Are AAA room rates + tickets cheaper than package?

Over the weekend, I priced out rates online through WDW and through DU for mid-January and received the same quote for a package which included POFG and tickets.

Will we save $$$ by booking the room with AAA rates and then buying the tickets separate?

I currently have a room at the CR using the AAA discount. I have now been trying to decide if I would save any money by getting the package through AAA, which would allow me to keep the room discount and add tickets to the deal. Or would I be better off buying the tickets myself through ticketmania. So far, buying the tickets myself is the winner. I would think about changing to a package if a free dining deal was announced for next April, but buying the dining package does not seem to be a good deal to me. My kids would both be charged as adults, but my DD eats like a mouse and we would be wasting the money paying an adult rate for the amount that she eats. So, for me getting the room discount through AAA and buying tickets separately seems to be the winner.

We went to WDW in june, and we wanted to go back in january, so got a quote online at Disney and then I called my CAA travel agent (same as AAA) and it was 300$ US cheaper with CAA!!! I was REALLY SURPRISE I tough that dealing directly with Disney shouldn't be cheaper???? Anyway, if we go back in january I'm gonna book thru CAA.

I checked the AAA rates against the WDW web site and what my travel agent could offer. Because of the Free dining during our travel period it made more since to go with the travel agent.

By signing up for the mousesavers newsletter, you get access to a special ticketmania site with the best discounts on tickets I have found. Using this ticket discount and the room only AAA discount has gotten me the cheapest total for room and tickets. If a free dining offer came around for next April, I would simply buy a one day ticket for everyone and take advantage of the free dining.

I know I signed up for something before...but when hubby wasn't working we figured we wouldn't be going so I haven't saved any of my newsletters. I'm waiting anxiously for another one. I'm still not sure if it's mousesavers, but I think it is. And I'm sure that I checked out ticket prices on that site before and did find that they were a huge savings. I think I was a little nervous about not getting them through Disney directly.

I think you should get the same quote either through disney or through CAA, I suspected you cannot enter the CAA quote on the web, you can try to call disney and ask for the CAA discount (or try mousesavers.com to get the AAA code).

The problem of going through CAA is that when your package is booked through a TA, everything will have to go through a TA. I booked through AAA this time (the first time through a TA) was because I like to get the diamond parking

Sorry, can't post the link. They are very strict about only getting the link from the newsletter itself. If you have the copy of the last newsletter, the link is one of the first ones in the newsletter. If not, the next one comes out on the 15th. I assume that ticketmania will still have discounted tickets linked in the newsletter since they have had a link as far back as I have been getting the newletter.

I first got a rate online at WDW for the package with hopper and dining plan.
Then called AAA asked for same pkg and was quoted $200 cheaper.

I have to agree that room only with AAA discount (through CRO) plus tickets through the mousesavers link is the cheapest way to go at this time.

If you want to add the dining plan (paying for it) the least expensive way is to get a package through an AAA agent. Just be sure to ask about extra fees and their cancellation policy. My agent does not charge fees and the cancellation policy is the same as disney - 45 days out. For room only it's 5 days, I think.

I saved over $600 with AAA for our December stay. Our package includes 4 nights at Poly, 10 day no exp premium MYW tix and dining plan. We are saving a TON of $$$ by going with AAA and the dining plan

How do you get AAA discount on package?? Thru what system? Disney? AAA?

Sorry, I am a newbie, but we are going in mod Oct. I learned from Disney reservations that once my reservation becomes a package, they can't give me the AAA discount on the rooms. So that takes me back to AAA...

My initial visit with them (AAA) quoted me same prices as disney website, for the package. I wasn't saving anything!! So I either had a bad AAA agent that was adding commission, etc., or she was dumb.

Bottom line, how do I get a discounted package thru AAA?? Or how do I get the AA discount on a package??

You have to book thru a AAA agent. However, you must have your AAA number to book. Cancellations and any changes to your package must go thru AAA.

I swore up and down I wasn't using AAA again since they did such a terrible job booking our first trip to Disney but with the dining plan I decided to check out AAA again and much to my surprise it was $150.00 cheaper to go through AAA then the Disney website plus my TA from AAA was just super! She was really up on her Disney stuff, so I am very happy with my AAA package, in fact she is also booking us our Universal trip also.

FYI - I just booked a November trip through AAA. The AAA discount only applies to the room, not the entire package. Regarding the free dining plan offer through Oct, AAA agent told me that you could only apply one or the other but not both.

I booked through AAA because free dining is not currently available in November and I wanted to book MYW package. Disney will apply the AAA discount but only allow you to book the room, they will not apply the AAA discount if you book a package.

This system is so confusing! I called AAA for a quote for March 2006 for 9 nights. I want POR, 9 day passes with the park hopper option and the water parks option, and the meal plan. We are a family of five, with our boys being 8,6, and 3 next March. AAA quoted me $3807.82 with the AAA Agent telling me that is a standard view room and with the AAA discount.

I got a quote from Disney online of $4000 ( I didn't write the exact figure down). I then called Disney and got a quote with the 10 day passes for $3734.92!

So Disney is cheaper than AAA with the supposed discount and an extra day for our passes? Methinks the AAA agent doesn't know what she is doing.
