Are AAA discount percentages published anywhere anymore?

It used to be that you could find the AAA discount percentage by resort class/season. I can't find this anywhere now. No specific resort in mind, so I'd rather not call and go through every single scenario.

I was in my local AAA office recently and picked up the AAA Walt Disney World brochure. It has the AAA percentages off for rooms listed by resort and season.

For value resorts, you just need to know you are staying value as the percentage off is listed as 10% for the entire year. For moderates, you need to know the dates since the percentage varies depending on season. For deluxe and deluxe villas, you would need to know the specific resort and the dates. Of course, the resort that you choose would have to have the AAA discount available for whatever you choose.

Although I know that the various AAA regions each operate slightly differently from one another, I do believe most if not all of them offer a no-cost, no-obligation quote service for a Disney vacation. It has been my experience that AAA will be able to offer whatever current promotions are available.

The last time I tried to go through AAA, they quoted me a price on a package that was identical - down to the penny - of what I'd booked myself for an on-property stay. And, considering that the previous year I'd gone through AAA for park tickets, and found the people at the office I worked with utterly incompetent to provide them, I started growing very weary of the marginal benefit AAA provided. Alas.

I have a question about the AAA discount. When I called and booked a room only direct with Disney, I told the CM that I have a CAA card, but she never asked me for the card number. Can I assume she applied the discount?

In my experience, often the CM's have no clue what CAA is. You have to ask for the AAA rate. I have been asked for my card number so I think that perhaps the discount was not given to you. They only offer a limited number of rooms at that discounted rate but if they are looking at the AAA discount they will tell you that it is or isn't available. You are also supposed to have the card available at check in....this has been hit or miss for me. I would say about half the time I have been asked for it.

To check your rate go online and price the same room and dates you have already booked.

Are AAA rates typically the same-as, better, or worse than public offers?

When I made a reservation for this August for the Poly it was only around 8-9% if that. It wasn't much but I figured I had it locked in just in case no other discount was offered.

I booked a 2 bedroom villa at the BW with a 20% AAA discount for early Dec. The CM did ask for my AAA number. I had to wait until she checked that it was valid and that it went through. I was pleasantly surprised that it was 20%!

When I called the other day, the CM I talked to said there were no AAA discounts at this time. I have never experienced a time when there were no AAA discounts, should I call back?

We ran into that last year too. Only it was my Dreams Unlimited TA who told me there were no AAA discounts at that time, and I tend to think she knows what she is doing. It is possible there is no AAA discount for your particular time, but it never hurts to double check if you are in doubt.

With AAA you also get a couple of other perks beyond the discount. We rented a car last time, and we had a pass for Diamond Parking at all of the parks. We had great parking pretty much everywhere.

We also got a Princess Storytime event at Epcot, and reserved fireworks seating at MK. There is no additional cost for this.

FWIW - these perks are only available if you book a package with AAA. If you are just doing room only, you aren't eligible for these things.

In my case I did better with public offer/disney month prono from aaa. I got 20% off rm part of pkg and a 25.00 gc for booking thru aaa during disney mo.

Fyi
when I went to AAA a few weeks back and sat with a rep. WAS TOLD THAT THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE DIAMOND PARKING PERMIT (REGARDLESS IF YOU BRING A CAR OR RENT ONE) IS IF YOU BUY A 4 DAY TICKET OR MORE DIRECTLY FROM them
Oops...Sorry for caps, too lazy to go back and change...

All AAA Clubs are different on this. It varies by region. In our region, they will give you a diamond parking permit solely for being a member. In the next region over, you have to book a package with them to get it. It's up to the discretion of the branch managers, but is usually uniform throughout the region.

Just jumping on board. I sat with a not so friendly AAA ta and found the exact same price online. Is there any advantage to using this person over reserving with Disney direct?
