Archiver's Mist?

Anyone know of a good source to buy "Archiver's Mist"? I've seen it talked about at several sites but can't seem to find any place to buy it.

For those that may not know, it's a spray bottle with a mist that when it dries on paper takes away the acidity so you can use things like park tickets, etc. in your layouts.

As some of you know I've just started scrapping, and would really like to include these types of items in my layouts safely.

I bought my bottle at a local scrapbook store.

I only used it a couple of times before it jammed up on me. There is plenty of spray left, it just won't come out. Has anyone else had this problem? It's a weird sprayer with a pump so I don't think buying a new spray bottle and transfering it will work. That was alot of money to spend to spray three things.

Thanks so much. I'll be sure to check. I used to have a Michael's about 3 miles from my house, but it closed a year or two ago (before I ever got into scrapping, unfortunately). However, there is one about 1/2 hour away that I'm planning a trip to later this week anyway, so I'll be sure to check it out!

I was actually told by my LSS not to bother with this stuff. It's expensive and is only guaranteed to last for 2 years. So...I guess you're supposed to re-apply every 2 years? She recommended using a buffer (i.e. mounting the tickets or whatever on cardstock and not letting them touch the pictures) and not bothering with the spray. For things like newsprint, I copy them onto cardstock because printer ink is safe already (at least most is).

I was disappointed when I looked into it though.

I found some spray called Make it Acid Free! at Hobby Lobby by Krylon and it is much cheaper ($4). I am going to use it for the church scrapbook. It is costing me a fortune to make copies. They are saving every little mention of the church....

This has happened to me. I called the company the first time it happened and they sent me a new sprayer. The second time they said they are not sending out sprayers anymore, but to soak the entire sprayer in vinegar. This does work, just rinse it really well before using again. I also make sure to cap the bottle while soaking the sprayer as the archival mist evaporates quickly


I have gotten mine at Michaels and have seen it in Wal Mart and Joannes.

Thanks! I have had this sitting unused for over a year now and almost chucked it since I couldn't get it to spray!

Also I just pulled out the newspaper announcement from my wedding over 10 years ago and it still looks great. It was laminated (by my dad's friend, a local funeral director, how creepy is that?) with some thick lamination.

It would probably cost a fortune to do this with everything, but for something really important I'd recommend it.

Wow, I finally saw some at Michaels tonight. $45! What is in that stuff, LOL.

I think I've decided to forgo it for the time being. I just made my first pages, and I have included some non-kosher items (ticket books, etc.). These are just attraction and park icon pages I'm putting together, though, nothing vitally important. I'm just figuring everything out. Anyway, I was careful to keep anything that may not be acid free away from the pics, and am going to trust in the fact that every other thing is completely acid free. I'll be more careful on my autograph pages and such, though.

The local craft store had some very reasonably prices adhesive clear envelopes. I might try that next time I need to stick tickets, fastpasses, etc. in my album. You can still see them, but they are separated from the pictures.

I don't know but it is made by a company that provides deacidification services for libraries and archives. Even when I use it, I make sure that the items are mounted on card stock and do not touch my pictures.

I have also bought a ph tester pen and use that on any memoribilia I put in my albums to see if I should spray it or not, so now I don't even ust the mist as much as I have in the past.
