Is the line for the Aquaduck really long? Just curious because it's only one slide for the whole ship, right?

It can be long, or short, depending on when you want to ride it. Yes, one slide. We found hitting it on Castaway Cay day first thing in the morning there's no one. Also, during dinner, it's not as busy.

It depends on the cruise and the times. The best time to ride is on port days while others are off the ship. Another fantastic time to ride is between the first dinner and show on Pirate night. There is a little Mickeys Pirate show they do during that time so the AquaDuck is empty. Several times we've been the only people riding it during that time. Walk right on with no wait, get off, go back up and walk right on again. Twice now we have ridden it 3 or 4 times in a row on Pirate Night between the first dinner and show with no wait. (This was on the Dream.) Late night right before it closes is typically a good time as well. Enjoy!

I will add at opening on a sea day. A lot of guests wake up late, so all the public spaces are pretty empty. If I remember correctly, it opens at 9 or 10 depending on the day.

Dream 3 night in sept waited about 10-15 mins and 15-20 mins on embarkation day and then 15-20 mins mid-day on Nassau day the 3 times I rode

As others have said, the line can be short or long. The shorter lines are most often in the mornings when it first opens, during port stops, and during dinner. The longest lines are afternoons of sea-days.

And just to clarify... the "AquaDuck" is a water-coaster type ride on the Dream and Fantasy. You sit on an innertube and ride through, either solo or tandem. And yes, there is just one for the ship. The "AquaDunk" is a waterslide on the Magic. It starts with a very steep as the floor drops out from under you.

Enjoy your cruise!

I find the time estimate at the base of the line is fairly accurate. It may be 5 minutes longer than it says, but at least it is proportional. So if you have your suit on, you can hold your fire until the line gets a little shorter. It definitely ebbs and flows. Also, sometimes, when it is windier they insist on two at a time, which tends to speed up the line.

My son is in a wheelchair. Is the aquaduck accessible? Are there stairs at the beginning and end?

There are stairs at the beginning. I don't know if there's an elevator, though. If there is, would he be able to transfer to the inflatable raft? And maintain his upright position on his own during the ride?

Disembarking from the ride, you have to get out of the raft and step over a 2/3 foot wall to get out of the water.

Unfortunately, no, I am not aware of elevator access for the AquaDuck; it is not accessible, unless your son is young enough and/or small enough to be carried up the stairs. The stairs go up 2 or 3 decks, so quite a bit of stair climbing.

Enjoy your cruise!

He can

He can transfer with help, and I plan on riding it with him. I can handle getting him up one flight of stairs, more than that may be too much for me.

We had a 2nd dinner seating and rode the aqua duck over and over again with little to no wait from about 4:45 pm on. There is often little wait at night (it's open until 10 or 11) as well but it's chilly then, even on a warm night. Port days especially CC if you come back early also good time to ride.

Have you tried waterparks with him? Can he transfer to a raft that isn't necessarily stable? Can you carry him 2+ flights of stairs and then assist with getting him situated in the raft? Could someone meet you at the exit to help get him off the raft? As an able-bodied person, I'm far from graceful getting off that raft and have flipped it more than one.

I'm not trying to deter you, just making it realistic. You will have at least 2 flights of fairly steep, somewhat narrow stairs -- one inside and one outside; that's assuming you use the elevator to get to deck 12. The DCL website used to indicate something about "must be mobile" for the AquaDuck, though I can't find that on the newer site. But I don't think anything has changed. I really would only attempt to carry him and transfer him if he's a young/small/lightweight child (like preschool or so) -- anybody older/taller/heavier, it's probably not particularly safe to try.

Sorry, I'm sure that's not what you wanted to hear. There are other water areas where he can participate. Be sure to make contact before the cruise and let them know if he will need to use the pool lift. Enjoy your vacation!

We (and our friends) did it in the evening one night after dark (early December) about 4-5 times in a row and we were the only people on it. The guy running it was obviously bored so he spent some time giving us different tips on how to make it go faster. We did it about 3-4 times on, I think, the day we were docked at Grand Cayman in the late afternoon. We didn't leave the ship as we've been there twice already. Wait times were maybe 5-8 minutes.
