My trip isn't until the end of 6/04,beginning of 7/04. I would like to make my reservations as soon as I can. I know that what I'll get is a voucher which is activated when I first use it. My questions is,When I make a room reservation using my AP,how does the reservationist know I really have one?

I'm not an experienced AP holder. Got ours on our last trip because it proved most cost effective with our length of stay. However, it is my understanding that you can book a room without an activated AP. In order to get the AP discount, you must present the AP at check-in. Note that getting the AP discount is hit or miss and discounts for your trip probably won't be released for some time. I'm waiting for 11/03 now.

Whether you buy APs now is a personal decision. Do you want to invest that much $ now or wait closer to your trip. I was hesitant to buy ours ahead of time incase our trip had to be postponed or the rules concerning APs changed.

Have fun planning!! :)

The reservationist doesn't know or care if you have your AP when you make the reservation. You don't need the AP to make the reservation, in fact, AP rates don't generally come out until just several months ahead of time (maybe 2-4 months, there is no set policy on their release).

Just go ahead and make your reservation at rack rate, or AAA if you have it, and just watch the disboards or mousesavers to see when the AP rates, or another code, are released. You can then call CRO and change your ressies.

You never know if a different code, other than AP, is released and then you wouldn't have to purchase the AP unless you're going more than once in a year. But if you do get the AP rate you do not need it until check in and most of us have checked in with just the voucher, which you can turn in for the real pass at your first visit to a park.

Hope this helps. Have a great time planning your trip!

No, you don't need them to make the reservation. You may need to chow them when you check-in. (we were only asked 1 time to show them out of about 10)
You can pick them up at the Disney Store at the airport when you arrive. This way you don't have to worry about standing in line to activate the vouchers before going into the parks.
