AP's to get 20 FP+ per quarter

Exactly, even to enter an AP to the website already they ask for the barcode number, not the ABC string.

How does it work for those, like me, that have a package plan that only needs to be paid 45 days out? Hmmmm.

The package date may change, but you have a reservation. Cancel it at 45 days and the FP+ cancels too.

The FP+ is directly linked to a ticket, and a ticket is directly assigned to a human being. Break any part of that chain and it goes "poof."

But these aren't basic questions - these are very personal "what if" theories that are mostly already covered if the person asking the question bothered with 3 seconds worth of research.

Instead they want to be alarmist about the new system and post their 2 cents knocking it and showing the world how it wont work and they're the poor unfortunate one who it is going to be leaving out.

I'm not falling for the charade and don't suggest anyone else does either.

Alarmist? Hardly.

Concerned about how the new system will personally affect me? Of course. As I am sure most here are as well. (And if that makes me "alarmist" in your view, then so be it...)

As for not bothering to research, you caught me there. I had no clue that AP's could be renewed 60 days prior now because my own AP expired in November 2012. Since I had no desire to keep that anniversary date, I never looked into renewal.

However, I do not think it is unreasonable to ask questions about the upcoming implementation of this. By your words the social media team has already "recently" began to rethink how to integrate AP's into the program. So what's wrong with giving them some more to think about??

So true! I talked 9 friends to shell out thousands of dollars to go to Food and Wine with me next year. Some of us will also be there in June. We have no idea at this time what type of tickets to buy, and as I have said before - I have already missed one deadline (DVC $399 PAP) because I didn't have enough information. Now I am mildly concerned about losing the opportunity to by a non-expiration ticket (I can also buy a DVC AP for a discounted rate) or do I buy two separate tickets. I do think these questions are necessary. And Cinderumbrella has been attentive.

An aside:
I was with these people last night (who already think I am a nut because we had to decide on the trip over a year in advance because of DVC), and I said we will need to meet in August to sync up our friend lists and decide what rides we want to reserve! And they said, "For our October trip?" They all turned a little green even considering planning ahead for rides.

Yeah!

First, you may need to make FP+ reservations before then. :)

Second, you should still be able to enter the ticket info from the KTTW cards. If they forget that some people still have valid tickets on "expired" KTTW cards, there will be lots of phone calls to WDW Ticketing to get the correct codes.

They've stopped using the ABC XXX XXX XXXX type number for passes and using the barcode. The barcode that's on KTTW and most other tickets.

I'm looking at those old KTTW cards that have one day tickets on them. Directly below my name is a 17 digit number and just above the bar code is 18 digit number. Which one are you guys talking about? Not that it matters that much, since I would be able to use it to get FPs for just one day for my eleven day trip.

Whichever one they prompt you for. :) I don't have an example handy right now to know which is the right one. Again, you can't do anything right now so it's not worth worrying about.

We're not certain what limitations it would place on you right now. You might be able to get more. After all, you've got 14 days to use a multi-day ticket, so they need to have some leeway. They could easily allow you 10 days worth on the 1-day ticket, since getting more isn't exactly useful unless you add on to the ticket anyways. But if there is a lot of abuse - guests eating up FP+ slots just because they can and then not using them, we might see some stricter rules.

By the way that is still an unanswered question correct? How many days of an 11 day trip will the guest get 3 FP+?

Yes...we don't know how they will control how many days you can get FP+s for.

One thing I don't like about this proposed FP+ idea is the lack of possible spontaneity that we'll have. When I have my kids, we stick more to a plan, but when I go solo -- like I am doing in March -- some days I wake up and say, hmmm...I think I'd like to go to Animal Kindgom this morning to ride Everest and the Safari. So I go...and I get there for RD and get FP. Works really well. But with this new system, the possibility of doing that just goes away -- now it will be that I have to plan 60 days in advance of what I will be in the mood to do. Even with the kids, we left a couple of days open for what we wanted to do again most.

It appears that Disney now has higher priorities than your flexibility.

I don't think she is. I know in my case how this plays out will affect my decision whether to go or not. I am already thinking about canceling my May trip or at least not getting another AP and spending no (or maybe just less time) at WDW. Again, so far I hate everything I've read about this new system and see no pros for the AP holders. Getting to the parks at rope drop and utilizing fast passes has always worked very well and allowed us to do everything we've wanted to do in a timely manner. Yes, I was an uberuser, but everyone else had the same opportunity to be one also.

Again, I'm only guessing, but I really think that you will be in a very small minority IF you actually decide not to go to WDW because of the FP system.

I also don't understand how you could "see no pros for AP holders" when Disney has yet to make any official announcements for exactly how this new system will play out for AP holders! :confused3

The only "official" thing I've seen is this quote: "Thank you for the comment, Dan. I see there are several questions concerning Annual Passholders. Our Annual Passholders are very important to us and we’re taking extra care to provide access to all the features and benefits of MyMagic+. Stay tuned as we are finalizing our timeline and we’ll keep you posted."

That's far from a detailed plan, but it certainly isn't a brush-off. :goodvibes

Other than the problems with the spur of the moment trips by locals with APs (they will have limited FP+ to pick from), but right now it looks like AP holders will have at least the same benefits as any other guest.

Hmmm, I'm guessing this has something to do with linking into the Magic+?

I just wonder how much spur of the moment business Disney gets? It will be these people that have the most trouble from what I've seen so far. Them and those that prefer to wing it.

At least the uber planners will be happy. I think that many here are such planners but I'm not convinced that the casual visitor is.

And there's that charming personality again

:lmao:

:confused3 I'd love to see examples of these so called "posts" you're claiming that are here on this thread.... somewhere... :rolleyes2 "Alarmist?" Really? They aren't any posts here claiming there should be a mass suicide over FP+ :rotfl2:

People are worried about this new FP+. Disney has a terrible habit of releasing a tiny piece of information, just enough to cause people concern about their upcoming trips. People want to know how it will work and how it will affect their plans. Given the "amazing" Disney website that doesn't even work properly right now, it's not wonder people are bothered. Even the AP site often doesn't work properly. For me personally, I want to make sure that I can reserve my FP reservations and not be worse off because, thanks to the terrible website Disney has, not be able to make my reservations possibly until I arrive! If that happens, there is no guarantee I'll get any reservations I want at that stage. That actually would mean a worse off system then what there is now.

The dis boards are for people to chat, ask questions, get help. No, not everyone is a Disney expert, not everyone knows everything about FP, AP's, Photopass and everything else. People do to Disney to holiday, it's not a college degree :rotfl2: I'm SO over certain people on the boards thinking they're Disney experts and treating everyone so badly if they don't "know" something. Get over yourselves, if its a theme park, not brain surgery!

In realty we know almost nothing about how FP+ will be used with an AP. Until then, people will continue to ask questions, posts comments, make guesses. If people don't want to read that, don't come into this thread! :thumbsup2

Quoth Disney:

Guest can spend time "planning as much or as little as they wish."

There is always a choice.. not that not planning has any rewards, but no one is forcing anyone to plan.

It had better!!! We don't need DVCers losing it if we don't feel special enough!!! :crazy2:

True. But once you pay for the ticket, they honestly don't care if you spend your entire vacation sitting at the resort. So there is no down side to Disney you you underplan and leave more ride capacity for others.
