AP's to get 20 FP+ per quarter

Don't forget that attractions that did not previously have FP but are getting FP+ will not distribute "old style FP" ever. They are not going to install new machines or anything to allow people to get FP for them - only FP+ through the reservation system.

Since they're FP+ they will get people using the system and slowing down the standby line... so if you want any hope f riding those attractions during busy periods you'll need to convert.

Not to mention, once they change all the entry gates to the RFID you have to convert your ticket type and at that point.. so much for the old FP system.

Disney is not going to let this linger and be a drawn out process.

My apologies if you covered this, I may have missed it. Now that Disney will be able to manipulate - I mean, control the inventory of FP+ behind the scenes, they will to a certain extent be able to drive people where they want them to go. I think were mostly thinking that there are x number of FP per hour for each attraction, and that they will simply take those same FP and spread them out for computer distribution the same way with the choice now being ours of the time rather than the distribution window we stumble upon when we approach the machine.. But, now they will have the ability to save the "good" times for the better guests and only throw out the scraps for the APs. So where there may be 1000 FP+ for the 1pm-2pm window at TOT, only 25 of them may be up for grabs by APs, the rest being held back for the whales. At the same time, the entire pool of Haunted Mansion FP+ for the same time frame is available to all.

Or, even held back for a future pay as you go FP+ system. Oh look, a FP+ just popped up for TOT, tap here to purchase for $5.

These allocations could be controlled on the fly.

They already do this behind the scenes for DVC rooms, and of course, unless you work for Disney you would never know the allocations.

Kind of scary really now that I start the imagine the possibilities here.

Well that STINKS if its true

And the general thinking here is that once FP+ goes live, FP as we currently know it will be a thing of the past?

The resort guests will get it first, but only certain resorts - they wont just have like one day where everyone gets it. It will progress quickly though - there wont be much "I can't believe guests at Coronado get it and not Grand Floridian!" type threads. It's just a matter of not hitting the CMs with everyone on the same day. Probably a week by week thing with different groups.

At some point APs and other guests will get some sort of access. During the transition period, the old FP will remain active - but again, only for rides with existing FP.. no FP+ rides like Haunted Mansion or Spaceship Earth.

Then Disney will eventually say "nopes.. you cant get into the park without the RFID ticket." Very likely when the switch to wristbands as tickets is made.

Probably not.. if anything it'd work like dining does. There's an inventory, it is static. The access to the inventory is a timed thing.. like how resort guests get XX-days plus ten. That gives them a leg up but wont exhaust the inventory. That whole decision was a means of balancing the two groups while still making it a "perk" to resort guests. They consider that model successful.

Again, this is where I am confused since I am both a resort guest AND an AP holder.

Ah, leave it to me to expect the worst :)

Note:

I fully expect there to be a 9-10am FP+ window. There's no reason to have the morning delay with advanced reservation of FP+. Going forward it wont be that the lines switch to FP returns at 9:45 and the lines suddenly jumps... just however "late" the FP+ people decide to return in their window.

Most FP guests currently return within the first 10minutes of their window.

So.. rope drop and quick feet if you don't want a line.

If there is a means to convert you when initial resort roll out starts, they'll convert you or consider you a "resort only" guest without park admission.. and thus you'll just get whatever perks come with being an AP at that point in time.

I suspect APs will get resort-perks when staying as resort guests once everything is fully functional, but Disney hasn't said anything on that particular matter. If anything threads like this have now made them very aware of guest interest in the issue though.

They certainly know what the concerns are now.

And to throw another wrench into the equation, we have actually purchased our MYW tickets through WDW (using the new Disney Visa promo that offers a room discount plus a ticket discount) and will be upgrading those tickets to AP's upon arrival...

Well, if it's rolled out when you arrive, then it'll probably be auto-converted and you'll have no say in the matter.

Yes, but the $64K question is auto converted to 20+ per quarter or to the 4 per day for resort guests...

Again, I realize this is all speculation and I will just have to wait. But I REALLY hope the Powers That Be are aware of just how unfair this is for AP holders that are not locals that can come each weekend. 20+ per quarter on a 15 day trip is ridiculous! Disney do you want 14 nights worth of lodging and food from me?? Or should I just stay on site for 7 days, use my 20, and then move to Universal for the other week?? :rolleyes1

4 per day until you make it an AP - if you make it an AP. They wont give you benefits of "ticket media I intend to have in the future."

When making FP+ reservations prior to arrival you'll have 4 per day as a resort guests on a package with tickets - assuming that's the allotment.

Ok, I read this whole thread over the course of a few days. Now I can't keep the rumors and speculations straight, but it sure is fun! ;)

If regular FP is going to be converted to all FP+, then every guest will eventually receive the 4 FP+s per day, no? I mean, maybe resort guests would get more (or whatever), but if FP+ is ALL there is, then all guests would be "allowed" to use it. Right? If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me.

So, as an AP, I would expect the FP+ every day I am in the park. Period. It would make no sense to allow day ticket guests access to FP+ every day they visit the parks but not AP holders. Can you imagine what would happen? For one thing, we would not visit the parks without FPs. Seriously. Why would an AP wait in a 120-minute SM line? We don't wait in line for more than, say, 30 minutes, max. We use our FPs, ride a few A,b,c rides, and go home. It's a benefit of having an AP. A benefit we PAY for by buying the pass. Pretty simple, really. I need to renew soon and this thread keeps popping up and making me hesitate. I will just have to hold out against FP+ as long as possible. I'll be the lone lady scanning her ticket while everyone else is tapping their bracelets. ;)

I don't think they care if you visit the parks. They only care if you buy the AP. ;)

The entire point of this thread is the supposition that AP holders would indeed be limited to 5 days worth of FP+ reservations per quarter.

The further supposition is that there will be short period of time when you could hold out with your paper AP but very soon would be required to convert to RFID (and therefore FP+ only).

the supposition is that they are going to treat AP holders differently from regular ticket purchasers. AP holders would only get 20 FP reservations per quarter (about every 3 months) or about 5 days worth and they can be used only in one park per day. Apparently because it's assumed by WDW that AP holders don't need to get Fastpasses too frequently and they want to keep those slots open for resort guests. There isn't any supposition about what would happen with an AP holder who is also a Disney resort guest - would the AP allotments hold or would they also get the resort guests allotments - or are those allotments reserved for package guests who bought tickets?

These are the things we are waiting to find out. It's also noted that once you go RFID there will be no option of getting regular Fastpasses at all. It's FP plus or standby. And eventually everyone will be going RFID because the park gates will be converted and you will need the RFID to get into the parks. The speculation (Disney hasn't announced) is that there will be no scanners for paper tickets.

Personally, as an AP holder I rarely use FP anyway. The part of this that creeps me out the most is the information gathering. I don't even have a Facebook account because of how creepy it is and now Disney is going to want to know who I'm riding rides with? and dining with?

SERIOUSLY?

No.

My biggest concern in all of this is whether the mere presence of FP+ is going to change the nature of that standby line. If they tinker with one piece of that puzzle, no telling what it will do to the other piece.

Will DVC members get 4 passes per day they are in a DVC resort room? If not will we have to get an annual pass to get fast passes in the future. I bet a lot more guest would have annual passes in the future if thats the case. Resulting to having to limit the number of fast passes to just 80 a year. (20 per quarter). I went to the parks 31 days when I had my annual pass that expired last August. I did not come near to using 80 fast passes. I think I would have used that many on Toy Story at HS if I could have, LOL
Many rides had times during the day that a fast pass was not really needed.

If I understand the AP 20 FP+ correctly some percentage of those are only available for parades? Meet and greets? Or A,B,C ticket rides?

More than half? I know we are still speculating, but assuming there is a 20 limit, how many of these could be used on a headliner?

But you supposedly would not be able to use all of them for TSMM.

The way the test was set up, you had to choose 1 attraction from each group they set up. So only one of your 3 for DHS could be from TSMM. Only 1 of a day's worth of Fps from MK could be Space and so forth. I'm thinking either RnR or ToT was also in the same grouping as TSMM and you couldn't have more than 1 from a group. Similar thing in the MK where things were grouped and you could only have one from each.

Some of the headliners are contained within a given group. And you could only get one from each group per day.
