Can I combine all these?

We're taking a group of 15 in December and there weren't DVC accommodations for everyone at VWL, therefore DH and I booked ourselves a room at rack rate on the hotel side.

Everyone else wants to do the DDP. Can we? Everything I find says you have to have booked a package or be a DVC member staying on points and my family are AP holders. We have TiW so it's not a total loss but still......

From another post the other day, I learned (if the people replying were correct) that you have to have an AP rate room booked, not rack rate, to get the AP DDP.

With rack rate you would need a package.

Maybe you can get an Annual Pass rate closer to the date.

What's the reasoning behind this? I mean, Disney has my $1700 rack rate for the room, my $1200 for AP's for my family, why wouldn't they want another $750 in DDP money????

Passholders can add the dining plan to a room reservation without buying the entire package. That's a fairly new change.

Non-passholders must book the room and tickets in a package from Disney in order to add a dining plan.

How did you book your room, trying booking it online through the Passholders site and I think you can add it, even if there is not an AP discounted rate available.

Go to the AP pages and sign in, click on "Passholder Offers" and scroll down to "Room and Dining Packages for Passholders"
