How do you people get these e-mails and postcards??

I think it's pure luck.

From September 2001-December 2003, I would get all sorts of postcards and emails. (our first trip was in August 2001) Then they just stopped.

The email I got Wednesday was the first one I've recieved in almost 2 years.

For some strange reason I always get postcards and special rates from DVC.

There is apparently no rhyme or reason to who gets emails or postcards, when they get them or IF they get them. It's total luck.

I do recommend going to Disney's website and requesting their vacation planning VHS or DVD though. This way they have your email and address so they can send you something if they so choose.

I've gotten a few postcards and a couple emails in the past 3 years since signing up, but I know some people have never gotten anything.

We are going at the very end of May ... for Star Wars Weekends.

When is Star Wars weekend? We are planning to Go May 20-30. Is Star Wars weekend during this time. If we go during the Star Wars weekend, what would we encounter. Do a lot of people dress up?

Going in April, meeting my DH after anl all girls 4 day disney cruise. DH can't go on the cruise so he is meeting us after the cruise and the mother and mother in law are going home. Looking forward to doing disney with DH and DD's.

Adora--unfortunately, it seems that Canadians don't receive email pins or postcard discounts. That is really unfortunate since there are so many of us who are addicted to Disney!! Hopefully, someone will notice and start including us in the deals! Hopefully, there will at least be some sort of discount.

You should be able to "opt-in" for codes as a Canadian. Just be sure that you tell reservations when you are giving your address and email. Canadian law requires that you give permission to Disney to send you things, for US residents it's not as restrictive unless they are "selling" the info to other companies which Disney doesn't do.

We have opted-in but we still don't receive codes. We receive all the other mailings from Disney but no discounts. We have discussed it on the Canadian board, and it seems that this is true for all of us--even the most dedicated Disney travellers. We log on to the Disney site on a regular basis, subscribe to all Disney publications, and visit Disney World often. Still no codes. It would be nice to be included, but I guess we will have to settle for visiting as often as we can!! I just feel lucky that I am in a position to visit since many people I know can't manage the high cost of air travel from my area. Can't wait until April!!

just in case anyone was curious, lvc at the Poly, in early April, AAA can do it for 6058.00, park hopper w/ water parks and DQ, Disney itself is 6400.00, we opted for Disney w/ the fear of AAA not getting everything right.

I would think that another set of discount codes would be released soon. Maybe through February. Anyone know?

Why when I call Disney for rate info. they tell me that the AAA rates are not out yet? Do I have to book through AAA to get their rate?

Some of the codes are valid for the general public and others are limited to groups like Annual Pass holders and Florida residents. Also, Disney will sometimes send out postcard or email codes that are only valid for the person to whom it is addressed.
