April Exercise Challenge -27,527 minutes reported!

Cam - Hope you feel better & can enjoy your trip.

This thread has definately been helpful in motivating me to keep up, even on days I felt like I didn't have the time or energy. I am still in the process of making this a habit, and my problem is one day off turns into many, and I am starting over every couple of weeks. If I force myself to do something I am always really glad I did, and feel great once I start. Its getting over the mental hurdle of thinking I don't have the time or the energy.

I am really impressed with how much time everyone has!

4/10 - rest day - determined ahead of time as a needed day off for my leg muscles to recover.

4/11 - 25 minutes - tone, sculpt workout

4/12 - 18 minutes - arm workout/ ab workout

4/13 - 38 minute walk/run, + 5 minutes stairs/walking at work
I am giving myself credit every time I take the stairs at work (5 flights) to motivate me to do it every time I visit that building. Did a lot of running around at work yesterday too!

4/14 - 18 minutes so far today. Did an interval work out this morning.

423/1200

The weather is looking great for the weekend here, and I'm hoping to get lots of outdoor time in! And hopefully lots of activity!!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Hi everyone! I couldn't get on yesterday because of the server issues but here are my totals for last week:

April 8 - 50 mins running
April 9 - 35 mins running
April 10 - 60 mins gym (weights and metabolic exercises)
April 11 - 25 mins walk
April 13 - 30 mins walk
Apirl 14 - 115 mins running and 30 mins walking
Weekly Total: 345 minutes

Grand total: 580/900

I am so happy that everyone is posting and that this challenge is helping us all stay on track. I think I have everyone updated now, notwithstanding all the posting glitches.

----------
As for me, I did 45 minutes elliptical and 25 bike at the Y Friday night. I am counting all the walking in NYC yesterday as 60 minutes. Hoping to wrack up more minutes today.

537/1700

So I'm a bit behind! I didn't run at all this week. Oh my. I see new smilies, but no screaming guy. Here we go:

Yesterday I did manage to get a walk in and pulled some weeds so am definitely counting that! Hopefully this week I can get back to running. I keep track of my exercise minutes on my ipad spreadsheet and last night I saw that I hadn't updated that in almost a week. Fortunately I'd been posting walks, etc. on mapmywalk so was able to use that to update! Yesterday was my birthday and DH got me a timex ironman run trainer gps. It charged overnight so can't wait to play with it today! The kids got me a giant candy bar of my favorite kind and Tangled! I had a bit of the candy and think I'll either break it up into little squares or freeze it.

Cam, hope your hip is better.

Keep on moving, Everybody!!

No actual exercise yesterday, I spent the morning loading and unloading the truck with hay, and the rest of the day landscaping. Lots of raking and lifting and hauling and walking! Despite not working out I'm happy with my day yesterday. I do plan to get on the treadmill later today though. :)
I love reading about all of your posts, it makes me motivated! :thumbsup2

After a week of being sick:crazy2: I was able to do 6.5 hours of yard work yesterday, which included digging a trench to repair the dog fence, also loading and unloading 36 bags of mulch. For a total of 390 minutes, grand total 560/1200!!

Cam, looks like you are having a great weekend in NYC. Hope the hip doesn't hurt too much!

Since I last posted, I've completed 2 hours of walking and 4 hours on the bike (55 miles). My tush is very sore. Ha!

New total:

620/1200

4/14 70 minutes - 40 bootcamp, 30 cardio

4/15 60 minutes walk with DH over some really hilly terrain

My 5k race was today. Finished in 38:35. It was fun, but I swear they mismarked the miles between 2 and 3!!! I thought I'd never finish! Not to mention we had an 80 degree unseasonably warm heat wave today! :rotfl::rotfl:

352/800

450/1100

April 14th 60 minute boot camp
April 15th - was going to go to a weight lifting camp but ended up cleaning for 3 or 4 hours then potting plants. For which I am giving myself 60 minutues.

Nice sunny day here in Seattle, hope it keeps up!

Good job to everyone so far. Half way there.... :)

Nothing happening today as I got up, went to church and then went out shopping with the family for several hours. Stomach is off a bit due to a lack of water a few days ago. I plan on doing some dancing with the girls tomorrow as I borrowed the Black Eyed Peas Experience Wii game from the library. We got some cleaning done this afternoon so we can have fun tomorrow. Brian and Ash will do some early morning work outside before it gets too hot! Supposed to be almost 90 here tomorrow so anything we do will happen early. They also have soccer practice tomorrow night.

Plan is for 50 minutes on the elliptical in the AM and maybe another 50 later in the day. And some dance time!

TTFN :tigger:

Wow! 90?? That's hotter than Orlando! Is that unusual for your area this early? I usually don't work out over the weekends, but if I'm going to make my goal, I guess I'll need to change that. My sister and her DH were hear from Texas over the weekend and my DD and DGD are here from Va and we celebrated my parents' 65th wedding anniversary, so lots of eating out and such. But I was really good on my food choices and didn't over do. But today I'm not feeling very good. Hopefully I'll work out later in the day cause I'm not feeling well enough to go now. Have a great day everyone!!

Another 0 for me yesterday. :sad2: I'm so mad at myself! I was outside again yesterday doing more landscaping, the plan was to hop on the treadmill when I was done, and I went and pulled a muscle in my foot! I guess it's going to be crunches and pushups and weights -- anything that doesn't require feet for me today.

Looks like everyone is doing a great job of using that Dis down time to get up and do something! :cool2:

I did 10 miles on Saturday -- 200 minutes. Yes, I am a slow runner. :lmao:

I also did 120 minutes of housework yesterday.

That brings me to 650/1200 and keeps me on track for the month.

Keep up the good work everyone.

Wow, this thread is hoppin'! I had to go back several pages to find my last update.

Cam, I really hope that pain in your hip does ease and that NYC is loads of fun for you. Thank you for all of your encouragement.
...

51 min run/walk - my first 5K...not the fastest time ever but I actually thought I had done much worse.

Thank you for the good wishes on my hip. Great job on your first 5k. :thumbsup2 That is a very nice time, and now you have a baseline for the next one. :woohoo: It only gets faster from here! :cool1:

We're all in this together and that helps a lot! Let's keep up the good work and take each day as it comes.:flower3:

I hope you enjoyed your visit with your DGD and DD! :cloud9:

I know exactly what you mean by this. I have to keep reminding myself of how much better I will feel after a workout, compared to how sluggish (and guilty) I'll feel if I go home and sit around instead. I have given myself a jumpstart on good decision-making by packing my workout clothes and taking the bag to work, and most nights forcing myself to change into those clothes before I leave the office. Then, I just have to force Max (my car) to stay left off the highway exit to head toward the YMCA, instead of bearing right and heading home. It seems like every day, we can make a series of good decisions, one at a time, that lead to a healthier lifestyle.

Keep up the great work, one smart action at a time! :thumbsup2

565/1200 just finished 50 minutes on the elliptical!

Have a great weekend!

Great job, Tracey!

First of all, Happy Birthday!!!! :bday::cake: I hope your family treated you like a princess:

Have fun wiht your new GPS watch! DH has one and loves it.

My 5k race was today. Finished in 38:35.

Nicely done!!! That is an awesome 5k time! :woohoo: You should be so proud of yourself!! You've set your bar pretty high, my friend. That is a great new PR to have if I am remembering correctly that you haven't done a 5k in a couple years. And in the heat? Impressive!

That sure sounds like exercise to me. WOW!! I would definitely have counted those minutes!

I'm sorry you were sick. I hope you are feeling better and that you didn't overdo it this weekend.

Great job, Susie! You are amazing! :lovestruc Yes, we had an awesome time in NYC. I love being with my kids and Howard and now that we are all really trying to be more active, it's even more fun to be out and about together.

First day out with the kayak today! Beautiful weather, which helps with the exercise. Now I'm up to:
1408/2500

Oh, that sounds wonderful! I've never been in a kayak but it always looks so serene, even when I know it is hard work to propel yourself through the water. Do you go out on a lake?

4/14 70 minutes - 40 bootcamp, 30 cardio

4/15 60 minutes walk with DH over some really hilly terrain

Great job! :goodvibes And you know my theory, right? I think hilly terrain counts double! LOL! ;)

April 14th 60 minute boot camp
April 15th - was going to go to a weight lifting camp but ended up cleaning for 3 or 4 hours then potting plants. For which I am giving myself 60 minutues.

Nice sunny day here in Seattle, hope it keeps up!

I'm not so sure about the cleaning, but potting plants definitely sounds like more fun than weight lifting camp. LOL! :thumbsup2

Tracey and Disneychic2 and teeka - I hope you are all feeling better today. Oh, and teeka, the landscaping certainly means you did not have a "0" for activity that day. I know how hard that kind of work is. I hope your foot is feeling better.

I did 10 miles on Saturday -- 200 minutes. Yes, I am a slow runner. :lmao:

I also did 120 minutes of housework yesterday.

That brings me to 650/1200 and keeps me on track for the month.

Lisa - You are rocking this challenge and doing amazing on your miles!! Keep up the great work! :cool1:

Okay, I think I am caught up on all the posts and all the minutes, but be sure to check that I've got your total and your color right. I LOVE seeing that almost everyone has minutes posted and everyone has been so active. Great job, fellow challengers! :thumbsup2

We had such a wonderful weekend in NYC and even though my hip was hurting, I was the one encouraging us to walk everywhere. We took a cab from the WTC PATH station to Times Square, but then walked to the Disney Store, Planet Hollywood, Toys R Us, Sephora, Champs, Crumbs Bakery, and then to our hotel. Saturday night, we walked to and from the theater. Yesterday morning, we were going to take a cab from our hotel to Hi-Line Park, but instead walked there :cool1: and walked the length of the park. We took a cab to WTC but walked quite a distance around the entire perimeter of WTC, taking the long way back to the train station. That was more than 2 hours worth of walking, and all of it was with my heavy Vera Bradley duffel bag that I wore on my back like a backpack.

If my hip is up to the elliptical tonight before my deep water aerobics class, I'll do that. If not, I may do some recumbent bike and/or weight machines. Monday nights are always busy at the Y - I think everyone is trying to make up for their weekend splurges, like me. LOL!

Have a great day everyone!!

Very unusual for mid April! They are very concerned about the marathon runners! It's in the 80s already!

660/1200 just did 50 minutes on the elliptical and then I raked for 45 minutes. It's warm out there! And I forgot to eat anything this morning so I guess I will make some lunch now!
