April 6th dcl announcement

How about announcing another pair of new ships?

That would be big news....(and would have made a GREAT April Fool's Day joke)

WOW! This is good news for the Magic. I would sail anywhere with her as long as it is not the Caribbean. Buddy, do you know the length of these Med/Europe sailings?

Thanks!

You will have to wait a little while, he's shaking his Magic 8 Ball.... oops I mean checking with his "source". :rotfl: Just joking!!

This is inline with the rest of the information I have . . .

Wonder permanently in LA, Magic permanently in the Med/England (maybe) once the Fantasy is delivered., and the Dream and Fantasy out of PC.

Why the "maybe"? Wouldn't any knowledge of the annoucement in just a few days be more certain?

Again, the Port of Grand Cayman has the Magic listed as being in port every Tuesday from 9/25/2012 through 4/23/2013 with the exception of Christmas Day itself. This has traditionally been a fairly reliable site for predicting unannounced itineraries. I'm not sure where the Magic will be prior to September 2012, but I'm still sticking with the New York prediction and not Europe. They've had to do too many kids-sail-free promotions the last couple of years in the Med as well as having to shorten many of the Med cruises.

Those are custom carpets.....probably designed well over a year go if not more....DCL could possibly have changed their minds since then about a ship permanently in Europe....

I will just wait and see.....:surfweb::surfweb:

Those things can change you know . . .

Here is what I know, this was a PM between me and another commenter on this thread:

From what I know, it is going to be a cruise out of LA to Alaska then on to Hawaii, then back to LA. I don't know the specifics of the itinerary to include ports and what not, or even exactly how long, hence the intended "12+". The guy who gave me the info is one of DCL's biggest bookers who knows the DCL President, and DCL President of Hotel Operations. I don't remember how long, exactly the cruise was supposed to be, but obviously 12 days or longer . . .

Other tidbits of info I received: They plan to keep the Wonder in LA permanently. Additionally 2 more ships are in the preliminary stages of planning . . . early reviews of the Dream have not been good for Disney with the biggest complaint being that there are too many people on the ship (capacity on 1st gen DCL was approx 2000, Dream and Fantasy have a capacity of 4000). Doubling capacity has strained the crew, and made it harder for them to give the same personal attention as with the Magic and Wonder. Also compounding this problem is the fact that somewhere between 15-30% of the crew are legacy DCL, meaning only 15-30% of the crew for the Dream have been with either the Magic or Wonder, and know what Disney and DCL are all about. An inexperienced to Disney and DCL crew has led to poor reviews. However the ship itself is getting great reviews . . . just the guest services that are suffering, which is what Disney PRIDES itself on. So with the planned 2 new ships, they will be somewhere between the Magic/Wonder and Dream/Fantasy in size. They plan to keep the ships at various different home ports, but I am not sure which is going where . . .

I would love for Disney to go to Roatan. We went a few weeks ago with Princess. Such a beautiful place - hardly any commercialization at all.
Not to speak well of Carnival, but we were in Roatan this past December on the Carnival Dream. It was cool, but the only place where it was easy to get to the beach and the kids had a great time snorkeling after a short walk. The RCCL Oasis of the Seas was there at the same time and there was still ample beach room. Closest thing we found to CC on that cruise.
I know we would not mind another stop there :)

This was post on the Puerto Rico news paper:
"Como balance, indicó, para el mismo año 2012, la línea de cruceros Disney comienza sus visitas a los muelles de Puerto Rico. “Se está negociando para que la línea Disney vislumbre a Puerto Rico como ‘home port’ ”, dijo, lo que implicaría que los viajeros abordarían el barco en San Juan."

It means that in 2012 disney its going to start visiting PR and they are negotiating to make San Juan home port.

That would be awesome! I would love to make port there!

Yes - it will be New York for at least awhile.

That sounds like a 25+ day cruise, and I think you're way off - source or no source!

I agree. This sounds off. Why would the ship go to Hawaii after Alaska and just return to LA. Seems if they are doing a repositioning cruise to/from Vancouver you wouldn't just return to LA.

The San Juan itineraries for November and December 2012 on the Fantasy have been available for booking since mid-February.
