April 6th dcl announcement

Yes but they are also talking about becoming a home port probably for another ship:confused3. I would love it!! then they could go to Aruba , Dominica, Grenada , Barbados there so many islands to choose.:cool1:

The Fantasy is committed to homeporting in Port Canaveral for several years. However, the Magic could spend some time in San Juan, after it spends time in New York, Galveston, Europe, etc. :teeth:

What is the airfare cost to PR? I always thought that cruises that originated from PR had to be discounted as it was harder to get there that most US Ports.

That said, I'd love a cruise with a visit to some of the islands you mentioned! It'd be great for winter cruises especially.

This was post on the Puerto Rico news paper:
"Como balance, indicó, para el mismo año 2012, la línea de cruceros Disney comienza sus visitas a los muelles de Puerto Rico. “Se está negociando para que la línea Disney vislumbre a Puerto Rico como ‘home port’ ”, dijo, lo que implicaría que los viajeros abordarían el barco en San Juan."

It means that in 2012 disney its going to start visiting PR and they are negotiating to make San Juan home port.

That's interesting as the future booking fellow on Princess told us that Princess is pulling out of Puerto Rico after 2012 dues to low sales.

We cancelled our planned cruise out of Puerto Rico last year. One reason was airfare cost/travel time and the other was that an opening came available with DCL and we wanted a known product at the time. That said, we are still very interested in going on the itinerary that was out of Puerto Rico. We were impressed by what Princess has to offer and their pre/post cruise customer service is far above DCL. DCL has a lot to learn in that department. However, DCL is still our first choice.

This was posted by a TA as their guess...Disney Magic - out of NYC (Bahamas/Port Canaveral? Bermuda?), April to September and out of Galveston (W. Caribbean), September to December. Disney Wonder - out of Vancouver/Seattle (Alaska), late May to early September, out of LA (Mexico), October to December, with sailings to/from Honolulu when repositioning LA to Seattle/Vancouver and return. This is only a GUESS!

I doubt they will sail to Alaska during Sept.-Dec. The drive on the pass would be horrible that time of the year and maybe only a handful would brave the cold and see the glaciers.

Can't understand why Galveston? Looking at Google earth, its further away from Southern carib. than PC? Its a long way across the Gulf....?

The suspense is not easy :confused3

If you are referring to my post it said Alaska May-Sept., Mexico Oct.-Dec. :goodvibes

October to May makes more sense. Alaska is cold enuff in May -- Mickey would freeze his ears off during the winter.

I've been discussing this with my DH for several days and this afternoon he reminded me of something our server at Palo said in January. Take this with a grain of salt...I claim no inside information ;)...but he said that perhaps Disney would sell the Magic. Hmmm...

I find the Puerto Rico idea interesting. It would certainly open up a different set of ports.

I also think that the whole carpet thing is interesting. It's probably nothing, but then again, maybe it's not.

My guess is that if they were doing Alaska again they would stick with Vancouver, as they need to stop at their foreign port, which would have to be Victoria. That would not given them enough time to do a 7 night closed loop cruise in Alaska. Leaving from Canada eliminates that need so they can start heading North immediately.

Although my guess is that they won't even do Alaska, they'll do Asia, but again, only a guess!

Ships do wear out eventually, and the "big" cruise lines sell off the older ships to smaller cruise lines and replace the sold ships with newer models. Perhaps Disney is already planning to do this, a few years down the road from now, of course.

The former American Hawaii line sold a ship for scrap metal -- think of a beloved horse being sent to the glue factory -- but the ship foundered while it was being towed to the great shipyard in the sky. (pardon the mixed metaphor.) Anyhow, it was cut loose and was allowed to be "buried" in the sea. And if this is just a legend, chalk it up to April Fools' Day.

The RCI that go for the 12 nights or 10 nights link it to Asia or Australia I believe. So I am betting it is 2 round trip 15 night cruise with a repo cruise to Alaska and then back.

They are not showing on the website but the Fantasy itineraries for the rest of 2012 (Sept.-December) have been available to book since mid February by phone directly through DCL or a Travel Agent. We transferred a booking to a Dec. 2012 itinerary that includes San Juan.

That sounds very odd, to say the least. How are you supposed to know what the itineraries are, or the cost if they're not listed on the webiste?

Most roundtrip cruises from Seattle are 7nights - and they make the obligatory stop in Victoria the evening before the cruise ends.

Wow, I did not know that, thanks. How pointless huh?!
