April 6th dcl announcement

A lot of speculation. I will love the NY because I wont have to flight. Also it can be going north to Canada.

Whatever is, Im very excited. :yay:

I would love NYC! We could save on airfare which is huge.
A double dip at CC would be FANTASTIC!

Our family enjoys Princess and Celebrity (but Celebrity may not be as good for some kids). We will be sailing to Turkey, Greece and Italy on Royal Caribbean next month--they "sound" very good for families but I don't really know yet.

We did the Western Med on Royal Caribbean last year and had a great time. I think they have a lot to offer families.

The nice thing with RCCL in Europe is that you have a lot more choices about itineraries and ports. We love Disney cruises for sure, but their itineraries last summer just didn't work with our timeframe and travel plans. I have no regrets about going with RCCL instead. We sailed in and out of Civitavecchia on the Navigator of the Seas, with 10 days in Rome beforehand (we were also visiting friends there).

I hope you have a great cruise!

We have sailed two Meds and 1 Baltic, all on Magic. :lovestruc If NY and Galveston is all that Disney can offer, we will have to find another cruise line. :scared1: Does anyone know of a good family cruise line that does Europe or Asia in the summer?

If DCL limits itself to sailing from US ports only, we will have no choice but to try other cruise lines. Our family is interested in seeing more of Europe and Asia!!! Come on Disney...give us exciting ports so we can continue to sail with you!

Thanks NHdisneylover! Let me know how the Royal Caribbean Europe cruise goes. I would love to stay with Disney but we want interesting ports. Did you sail Princess and Celebrity in the summer when there were more kids? My teens like the dressing up but they don't want to be the only kids on the ship! :scared1:

Not trying to hijack the thread ... but wanted to comment.

When we did our Western Med cruise last summer on RCCL (early July), there were a ton of teens. My girls were 15 and went to the teen club the first afternoon after boarding. Amazingly, the first 2 girls they met were from our own hometown!! They met a lot of kids, and it was neat because they were from all over -- US, UK, Europe, Canada, South Africa. I definitely think you would find plenty of kids in the summer.

Along for the ride and more speculation. I think I am on board even if the Magic or wonder cruise nowhere.

Galveston gets a vote from us. As much as we want to sail the Dream or Fantasy, I couldn't pass up a chance to sail out of Galveston. Just a short 7 hour drive for us, vs a 20 hour drive to Port Canaveral.

Does anyone know if they do have a cruise out of NY and hit Bermuda would this be enough to satisfy the Jones act thingy?

The reason I ask is if there was a one way from NY then I could stay on in Disney for a week. A one day excursion would not be enough for my family:rolleyes1

If this is possible, do you think it likely? or just wishful thinking on my part...

I wish there was some leaked info about the Wonder Summer 2012 :upsidedow

I would love a one-way from NY... go from NY to CC and then to PC, then we'd go spend a week at WDW and fly back.... or the reverse, get on the boat in PC, go to CC and head back to NY. Of course, that wont' happen, but a girl can dream, right!

I want Galveston also! To anywhere - a stop at Key West would be a great one - chocolate covered key lime pie is a good enough reason for me. I'm in TX and would transfer my deposit for the Fantasy to a Galveston Disney cruise to pretty much anywhere to save the airfare. I REALLY hope Magic sails out of Galveston on a permanant basis (even if only part of the year).

We'd have two Magic's as I think the Carnival Magic is scheduled to sail out of Galveston starting in November. Is that any issue??? Never too much magic in one place, I guess! :rotfl:

I will try to remember to post about it when we get home:goodvibes We are sailing over Easter so I expect a fair number of kids. We love DCL's ships and satff, but agree that they often do not sail where we want to go, and even less do they do so when we want to do it (like my kids have two weeks off for Easter--but there is no Disney option at all in the MEd at that time--and we really want to sail the Eastern Med which DIsney has yet to offer at all).

We have also managed to find many great prices on DCL, but not always. In this case, we are sailing in a very high season (right through Easter) in the Med and paid only $1700 per cabin for two inside cabins for an 11 night cruise. That is less than half what cabins on the Dram for only 7 nights were going for over Eater (not that we wanted to sail to the same boring islands again anyway).

We have always seen plenty of other kids on Princess. Celebrity caters to a bit older crowd and then we sailed them during our kids fall break, the week which includes Halloween, which is not a time off from school for very many people. There were VERY few kids onboard. I think DS was the only American in his age range (he was 11) and there were only 10 or so in the range at all. Mine still had a lot of fun, found the counselors very willing to do things and all the regular programming (trivia, etc) were happy to include them. It was a very different feel though (but must have been good becuase they price Celebrity like crazy now looking for another chance to sail them:lmao:).

I am so happy to rad good reports. Thank you:goodvibes

Again, nice to hear. Yes, one things my kids really noticed was taht even in Europe the kids tend to be almost all American or British. On Princess and Celebrity there is a huge mix of nationalities--which they really like.

I think that April 6 is the real date. TA seems pretty confident and she's very reliable. Best guess is NY in warm weather, Galveston in cool weather. Most likely destinations from NY are south to Florida (one day at Disney World), CC and Bahamas, but I don't think one way. She thinks Bermuda is possible but unlikely. Also thinks New England/Canada cruises are more likely in September than in the summer.

I have to believe that the Wonder is returning to Alaska via Hawaii in 2012.

We have a fully refundable deposit on a 10-night Eastern Med cruise on Celebrity for early August. If Disney surprises us and goes back to Europe, we would prefer to cruise the Eastern Med with them (we LOVED our Baltic cruise) but the Celebrity ships are really nice looking, we were pleasantly surprised by the pricing, the itinerary is amazing and I have to believe that at that time of the year, there will be lots of kids. We really love Disney, but we have a 15 year old and a 13 year old, and at this point we want to go to new ports and show them more of the world.

I think you are spot on about the 2012 itineraries for the Magic and the Wonder. Like you we also have a fully refundable deposit on a Celebrity cruise... a 12 night Eastern Med and Greek Isles. We would love to sail Disney in the Eastern Med but I have a feeling even if they sail there the price and the itinerary would not be as good as the Celebrity Silhouette's.

We are not really interested in the same old Caribbean ports any longer, we want our girls (ages 15, 10 and 8) to experience more of the world. The possibility of Hawaii is interesting but if they are repositioning cruises the dates will not work with our school and sports schedule.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions in Europe. :thumbsup2 We have taken 9 DCL trips and LOVED everyone of them. We are now so tired of the same 5 Caribbean trips and love to travel different places. I'm going to start looking at the European cruise lines that have their 2012 itineraries available and start planning. I will still hope for a Magic sailing in the eastern med but I can't keep waiting forever.:guilty:

We saw that 12-night itinerary, but the calendar didn't work for us, so we're on the Equinox. I think you're right about pricing, but it's still going to be a hard adjustment for us not to be on a Disney ship. My guess is that they are planning Asia for 2013, which is not on our short list right now, so it might be awhile (after Alaska) before we cruise with Disney again, which is a bummer, I have to admit.
