April 6 & 7 - no rooms available

Just got off the phone with member services and was disappointed that there was "no room at the inn" - any of them, even after looking in cash inventory!

While there were some rooms available for 4/4 and 4/5 at SSR and OKW, MS couldn't find anything on 4/6 or 4/7 at any of the DVC resorts, so we will be staying offsite this time round.

Since this is very last minute, I can' t cry too much - but I do regret not being on site.

We are heading down to visit Rollins College in Winter Park and will combine that visit with some time at WDW.

A very nice April surprise for DD - she was accepted to Rollins for the Class of 2012 - now we need to visit for a day or two and see if she would really like it there.

If your reservations off site can be cancelled, call back daily. I have gotten rooms as late as the day of so the inventory changes daily.

I added 4/6 about two weeks ago. At the time, SSR and OKW had availability - but it's Georgia's spring break!! I'm expecting crowds!

Thanks for the wait list advice - I will call tomorrow to try to wait list - now that I think about it, I'm a little surprised that the CM didn't ask if I wanted to try that ... ah, well - tomorrow is another day! I guess that Georgia's spring break helps to explain the booked rooms - I was surprised to find that cash inventory was booked, too.

Congrats to your dd ! We just recently did something similar as my dd was accepted for the class of 2012 also at a FL college (1 hour from Orlando).

I think alot of the resorts are full because a friend of mine is in WDW right now and the CM at POFQ (which is full), told her it is spring break for FL schools. It started this Monday.....so this is probably why this weekend is booked. People are just booking the whole week for break.

If you really really wanted to stay onsite you'd paying the $95 and staying at a moderate work for you?

There's the thing- when I couldn't get a room on site at WDW, I booked a room at the Comfort Inn which is in Winter Park - it is closer to Rollins, making that part of the trip much easier. I may just stay with that (only $69 a night, breakfast included) since much of our time is spent at the college..... and only a day or two at the parks. I rented a car so we can easily drive to WDW for the day.

Thanks starbox ! She's actually in WDW now (AS Sports) on her senior class trip. She is counting down the days until graduation !

Dd will be in Disney the weekend after we get back from our Rollins trip - her senior class trip is to WDW and she will be staying at the All Stars Resorts with the group. ") Talk about jet lag- two flights to FL within 7 days of each other!

She is wondering what it will be like staying at ASR, since she has been at DVC for the past 6 years or so. No kitchens in the rooms, can't watch dvd's for free, no in-room whirlpool.... whatever is a girl to do? ! haha!

Maybe DVC could start a scholarship fund- DVC kids who come to college in the Orlando area..... and happen to intern at WDW.... what about that?

You can't but cancellations do still occur. You just have to call at regular intervals and see if anything has come available.

In fact, the odds of getting something via repeated calls may be pretty good since there is no waitlist--late cancellations just sit there waiting for someone to call.

We are at OKW right now and we could only get a room until the 5th. We will be staying off site until the 9th.

My DSis is in Florida and I was able to book her a SSR studio for just one night, Tuesday the 8th...at first the CM thought the 9th would also be available, but no. I was just happy to be able to help her out, she's in Florida on sad business.

Checked again today no DVC or Mods available. Rained 3" last night at WDW. 5:45 Jay Black show was cancelled 5 minutes after it started due to lightnig. We waited a hour for a 5 min show.
