Fellow cruisers, I need your help....

We are considering staying at Paradise Pier before the cruise so I can fulfil my bucket list of staying at all the Disneyland Hotels but I just saw a video walk through of a room at Paradise Pier on another Disney message board (yes, I know, me bad!!!)...and the room looked like just another hotel room, nothing special (we stayed at the DLH in April and it was amazing) no real disney touches and SMALL...so what I need to know from anyone who has stayed at Paradise Pier, do you think we would be disappointed? It is a lot of money to stay there and if it's just like another hotel, I'd rather stay at the DLH or GC and leave that bucket list item not crossed off.

Thanks in advance

Is anyone going to be at WDW Sept 20-23? My husband and I will be staying at ALL Star Sports. They will be having the Mickey Very Scary Halloween Party then. We have done the Christmas Party but not the Halloween .Anyone have any suggestions about the party?

Be prepared for rain. It rains every time we go. The party is so much fun. Love it.

We'll be at WDW from September 10 - 24, staying at Pop Century. We are not doing the Halloween Party but have in the past. We had a lot of fun but found the park to be very dark during the party. Also, be sure to get a spot for the parade...you don't want to miss the headless horseman!!!!.

BTW...would you be interested in meeting for coffee or ice cream sometime during the day? Right now our plans are to be at the Magic Kingdom on the 20 and Epcot on the 21 & 22.

We liked it..previous to that we stayed at the Grand Californian. Not Disney crazy .. But then I didn't find the GC was either.

That would be pretty awesome!.. we are there October 26-November 1st. So we are there at the same time!.. We are staying at the PoP Century Resort. Eli loves to go on the "Mickey Mouse Boat" as he calls it. At least he did for 4 nights, I am not sure how he will do with 15, but, with all there is to do, I am sure they will both have a great time!..:cool1:

We'll be staying at Saratoga Springs, the best time for us will probably be to meet from the 29-31st (my parents will be with us the week before and my inlaws the week after), but we can of course make some plans closer to the date!

Get in line before the party starts to get a picture with the 7 Dwarfs! and leave the trick or treating till later in the night...as the night goes on they begin giving huge handfuls of candy!

We have never stayed there because we walked thru and toured it a year or so after Disney bought it and we did not feel like we were in a Disney hotel at all..HATED the atmosphere. It felt like any hotel in any city and we want a lot of Disney for what we pay. Our favorite for the Disney feeling is Disneyland hotel hands down..Grand Californian is really nice, but we are from Seattle and it looks like all the hotels at all the mountains areas around here - felt more like home then Disney for us.:confused3 Do prefer the ease of getting to parks from Californian, especially when pushing a wheelchair, but if we have a 3rd person with us so I have help pushing her we definitely stay in Disneyland.

We stayed there before the PC cruise in 2008 and after the PC cruise in2011. It is an ok hotel. I don't think it is worth the price but it is convenient to the parks. We are still debating where we are going to stay for this cruise.

Thanks everyone for your PM's and your reviews of Paradise Pier so far...

Wow... miss a few days and I am WAAAAY behind!!

Erik: Glad to hear you got the vacation time approved! that's one thing off your mind!

Alex: Well said about the FE's. :thumbsup2 Ditto what Alex said... ;) Plus.... Let's keep it fun and not so complicated!

LOVE the idea of the Hawaiian shirts!! We're in for 2... just need details on sizing. measurements etc. Prefer no pocket but don't really care.
Someone suggested adding a column on the spreadsheet... good idea! Thanks Val for doing all the work!

We stayed at PP prior to our last Hawaii cruise. We did not like it at all. Room was not ready until 6pm. Did the Character breakfast and were put to the side and only had 1 character. Prime Time was 90 minutes late (not Disney fault. After the cruise we stayed at DLH and loved it. We stayed at GCH and loved it too. I am waiting on SW and once I see thier time lines it will most likely be Queen Mary.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Oh yeah! It's FUN! For the parade, with my ecv, I like to sit in the handicap area by the Liberty tree - it's on a corner and it's one of the performance areas. Get there early for the second parade.

Trick or treating and character visits during the first parade. I don't waste my time on rides during a party, but friends have said it's the best time to ride.

Cut loose and dress for the occasion. It really enhances the experience not only for yourself but for others. I LOved the 80 year old Cinderella and prince charming couple we saw. And the pirate family. AND the very cute Peter Pan and Tinkerbelle.

You'll have a great time.

Happy Day, all!

I liked the Halloween party better than the Christmas one! I think mostly because of the guest participation/costumes.

As for the Halloween Party, We have a Mickey contume here for John. He will be the biggest Mouse you have ever see. The only problem is taking it in the suitcase on the plane., It takes up a lot of space. We did a Disney Cruise Party here a year ago and a friend had the costume and gave it to us. I can be Minnie. I am looking forward to this. Now to convince John to be the mouse!

We've stayed at the Paradise Pier many times...it used to be our favorite. It was purchased by DL when it was the old Pan Pacific.

I believe it was called the DL Pan or something back then & the rooms were not Disney themed - but you did find Disney toiletries in the bathroom and there was a nice Dis sculpture in the foyer downstairs. The rooms have since been redone and are styled in a nautical them & the pool, that once was a plain rectangle, has been redesigned to have a slide & better theme.

We liked it in the past because it was the most economical DL choice and had just about all the advantages as the others - you can use the pools at the DH, but not the GC though. When it was renamed the PP & DCA opened, we also loved the new views it afforded (the best ones, we thought, of Paradise Pier in the park), and it had a private gated entrance just across the street beside the GC.

But....the private entrance has now been sealed due to new park modifications & the Villas placement, the price has risen (although still is a bit less than the others), and we are DVC members so always book the villas now.

It is still convenient (just a short walk past the DH and convenient for DD and the monorail, and right across the street from the GC --with a good crosswalk)! The views are still great (get a park view) and it has as much a Disney 'feel' for us now as Port Orleans, for example, in WDW.

Hope this helps some - it's still fun to be staying in the park, and we are a bit sentimental about it perhaps, but always enjoyed our stays there. jmho

I got back two shirt designs. One was pink - which I liked but I don't think would be popular. The other one was nice but very dark. So I think I need to send them more detailed instructions and art work.

Thanks to Erik for giving me great input and ideas. I would like to get feedback in regard to STYLE - not a final design - that I will get from the company making them and then I will post for your votes. So below are a couple of styles of fabric and logos. Give me your input but remember: THESE ARE NOT THE PROPOSED SHIRT DESIGNS TO CHOOSE FROM. I am just trying to get an idea of what is expected or hoped for.

I mocked these up from graphics I got off this site and the web so they are ROUGH and you should not be concerned about the quality of the graphics. I am mostly looking for input as to likes and dislikes regarding traditional vintage style, bright and 60ish, or more Disney with a little Hawaii. Also, remember this is representing a small sample of the fabric, like about a 6 inch square.

My Bob said I made it confusing by putting the graphics on a pattern. The issues of graphics and print are two separate things. So here is the graphics on a solid color. The prints are a separate issue.

I am editing this posting to add the following images so you can see what I mean when I tried to explain the graphics can be put on any pattern.

Here is shirt one on a flower pattern print

here is an example of how we can adjust the background color to whatever we want. I only enhanced the color to create a few of the unlimited options to give you an idea. We could ask for any thing - don't know if we will get it, but we can ask.

I love the first two styles. Personally I love the design with the flowers, but maybe it is just a little bit too busy. If I am being practical and am considering what Graham might wear then the colour and style of the second one is a winner. It is a lot more understated, but still fun.
