I think at this point we need to sit back and wait until she has time to talk all the options, prices etc. with the company and lets us know and then we can make exact comments once we know what are options really are.

I know that a "special" shirt like this I will dry clean - budget or no budget - so it has a really long life, although I usually do everyday shirts myself. So material won't be a factor.

It is an unfortunate fact of life that you can't please 100% of the people in 100% of the options, but it sounds like we have a unique opportunity here so I hope it can work out so most everyone is pleased.

Once again thanks for all the hard work.

You said it perfectly!! Kudos to you and to Val for all her hard work!!

LOVE the shirt idea, Can't wait to see the artist's idea's. Thanks so much for all the work you have put into this, what a fantastic idea! :goodvibes

As to the Fish Extender issue, I would not dream not to give to anybody who is saying that they will use their contribution to the lanyards as their Fish Extender gift. For me doing Fish Extenders is more about giving then receiving. This is a welcome opportunity for me to try out new ideas and techniques and generally letting my creativity go wild. I know that I was very vocal about this issue. I had the families with children in mind. I have seen the utter delight on children's faces when they found something in the Fish Extender, but also the disappointment when they came back to the room and there was nothing in the Fish Extender. Knowing this, it would not make any difference if we had lets say 150 cabins involved and 25 participants do not put anything in the Fish Extender as they have contributed to the lanyards. However, if we have 25 cabins and 5 people see their contribution to the lanyards as their Fish Extender gifts, then that makes a huge difference, especially on a long cruise like this.

So I have come up with a solution for myself. Yes, I will give to any people who are in my group who opt to count their contribution to the lanyard team as their Fish Extender gift. On top of giving to my group, I will give a gift to every cabin with children that has people in their group who use their lanyard contribution as their Fish Extender gift.

I too take extra FE gifts, especially for kids. I know there are others who do too, so between the 'extra givers' I think it will more than cover the lanyard people who won't do a traditional FE gift. For me personally it is all about the joy of giving, but for me as the 'mummy' I love seeing the kids little faces light up when they see there is something in their FE pocket and it it the main reason we join an FE group.
Everyone should do whatever they are comfortable with, I don't think anyone will miss out!!! ;)

I think I am about to upset people, if that is the case I am sorry but I have to get this off my chest. Please realize this is my perspective so I am sure others will disagree. What is happening right now is just one of the many reasons why I don't do the FE thing. In my eyes reading the conversation I just have a image in my head of children crying. I can't believe grown adults are, again in my eyes, are complaining about such a trivial thing. This is to be a fun adventure half way across the Pacific and back. What I see happening now is not very fun. Sorry again, but I had to get it off my chest. Again this is my perspective and if I have angered someone I apologize.

I don't think any child will be crying, how could they cry over something they didn't expect. It is quite the opposite, the way their faces light up with joy when they find a 'surprise' in their pocket. Do you have children? If you do I'm sure you know what I mean.
I haven't read any adults 'complaining'. I am certainly not. Somebody put a question out there and people are 'discussing' their thoughts and opinions.
Don't apologise for vocalising your opinion, that's what we're all here for, to discuss. :goodvibes

So, everyone do what you feel comfortable with, If my kids don't get any treats, I'll pop some in myself, no big deal and same happy little faces! ;)

As for numbers, I did think we were dividing into groups of 25, I am a planner and would like a decision to be made on numbers.
I don't think it's necessary to lock in groups yet, just numbers. :thumbsup2

I was thinking of a magnet for the inside of people's doors with a run down of each days events.

Great idea! Going to have to be a BIG magnet with this groups activities though! :rotfl:

Well, I talked about it with my boss today and he said I can have the eleven days. WOO HOO!!!:woohoo: (I'm sure it didn't hurt that I mentioned that this would formally be our honeymoon probably....but still...it's a big load off not to have to worry about that!!)
:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Has anyone seen the thread about the packing cubes ? I have never heard of them before seeing the thread. I ordered a set and I am excited to see if they really help with packing and keeping clothes wrinkle free.:)

Love packing cubes, just because there is 4 (nearly 5) in our family and I find it a great way to seperate our clothes, rather than having a whole suitcase each.

Hi! Myself, DH, DD 13 & DD 16 will be joining this cruise. I'm having a hard time convincing myself and DH that it's O.K. to take my girls out of school for 18 days. Who else will have children missing school? I need some DIS advice :)

My kids are taking 3 weeks off school, I think they learn more in the big world than they do stuck in classroom sometimes. My kids school encourages travel as long as the kids are currently keeping up academically at school.
They are asked to keep a journal as their school work while we are away. Upon returning to school they are to give a oral presentation about their trip.:)

So - here are pictures of the sample shirt we were sent.

Shirt, front traditional 4-button front, no pocket, plus collar button. Pockets are an option. Tail and sleeve lengths are full. Bob is 6'4 and wears an Xl or 2XL. He has a JC Penny tee-shirt under the shirt and the sleeves of the tee do not show at the bottom of the shirt sleeves

The full repeating pattern is visible stretching most of the way across the back fabric panel, and appearing twice between tail and collar. From the back you can see it is plenty long and wide.

shirt detail Shows most of the repeat, with six custom logos (large and small, plus "flops" of blue octopus). They incorporated 5 different images this group gave them, The flowers and leaves, water and palm trees the artist provided, everything else is the MALS-II group logos.
5923206959_e3841a9f1f_m.jpg

Shirt, custom label In the collar, a custom label for the group/business that orders the shirts. Note this is the reverse of the fabric just below the collar. Becky had told me the fabric pattern was weaved not printed and you can see this on the reverse of the material.

This shirt is 100% polyester, we can have ours made like this, that slinky material or a cotton blend. We could also get them in silk, like the Tommy Bahama shirts, but they cost $10 more.

I am suppose to get the first art proofs the first of this week. I haven't asked for any specific colors but I would think we could recommend or state what we want. As with pocket or no pocket.

We are in for a custom shirt x2, ok Bob, you are 6'4"...I am retired military, 6'0", but have a 55" Chest...are sizes going up to 3x?

Also, do we get to select/vote on a pattern? Can it be DCL/Disney related, or even customized to relate to the Disney Hawaiian Inaugural Cruise?

Keep us up to date...

Robin & Angel "D" :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Anything that helps with staying organized I am in.:)

looks great ! Thanks again for taking the time to do this. :thumbsup2

Val, thanks for all your hard work with this. I love the sample shirt and can't wait to see what design they come up with for us.

It looks and sounds great. I vote without a pocket. IMHO, the slinky material seems to shrink a lot and wrinkles bad. So will 100% cotton. I think something with polyester will shrink and wrinkle less.

I thought silk would be nice at first, but had conveniently forgotten about the ironing aspect. I think the poly cotton blend may be a better idea.

Corinna

Can't wait to see the finished product! If the shirt comes in kid sizes we'll take 4.

Started on my FE gifts today. It is a lot easier making 25 of something than the almost 200 we did on the EBTA. I am using the same idea I used then but adapting it a little to reflect Hawaii.

You may not win the popular with the teachers Mom award, but I am sure you will win the cool Mom award!..:worship: We are going to WDW the last week of October and this cruise as well, but my boys are only going to be 2 and almost 5, so I really don't have to worry about school YET.
Good luck with the teachers!

Oh cool! My little guy will be almost 5 at the time of the cruise....we start school in Canada a year earlier (for the most part) than the US. I don't think it will matter much, will just bring a workbook or two with us on both vacations!

Sorry, I am one of "those people" who mostly visits our FB page. I admit that I have not read through the last 15 pages of comments of FB vs. DIS Boards, but I find it much easier to follow FB than the boards (just my honest opinion, no flaming needed).

I love the idea of the shirts and I hope someone will post the pics on FB for those of us that find that site easier and have a place where everyone can order.

As far as the FE groups, if someone wants to have/give more than 25, is there any rule established that they can't join multiple groups? That way, if they want more gifts, they can join all of the groups they want.

As far as the lanyards go, we have gotten them from several cruises, but we usually find the Disney ones more comfortable and this trip will be our first platinum cruise, so I'm sure we will want to wear those! ;)

We would be interested in 1 adult and 1 child shirt.

Maybe it would be a good idea to see how many people would like a shirt by adding a section on the spreadsheet!

I am hoping that Eli, the older boy will find him a good friend to buddy up with on this cruise. We went on a 4 night Bahama Cruise last Sept, and he really didn't want to go to the kids club. :confused3.. Maybe if he can find him a good buddy to hang out with, then maybe he will enjoy it more? :worship:

Hey guys...could someone tell me where exactly the "spreadsheet" is with our roll call and whatever else is? I'd like to add myself to the list.

Also, lovvvvve the Hawaiian shirts, the fit looks great. My vote would be for the poly blend with a pocket.

Thanks

I had to ask that last week...the link is in the very first posting in this thread just click "first" on the page selection in right corners

Well if you would like to do a small meet up at WDW in October (that is if you're there the same dates, we'll be there Oct 22 - Nov 2), and let the boys meet, I think that might be great for both of them! I think my son will like the kids clubs, he's at day camp this week and is mad when I come to get him :confused3

If my son knows someone on the cruise it might give him something to look forward to....when I told him we were going on a Disney Cruise to Hawaii he gave me two thumbs DOWN!!!

That would be pretty awesome!.. we are there October 26-November 1st. So we are there at the same time!.. We are staying at the PoP Century Resort. Eli loves to go on the "Mickey Mouse Boat" as he calls it. At least he did for 4 nights, I am not sure how he will do with 15, but, with all there is to do, I am sure they will both have a great time!..:cool1:

It's a small world after all ! :rotfl2: Sorry I couldn't resist.

Is anyone going to be at WDW Sept 20-23? My husband and I will be staying at ALL Star Sports. They will be having the Mickey Very Scary Halloween Party then. We have done the Christmas Party but not the Halloween .Anyone have any suggestions about the party?
