Wow, I have to say I sure created a monster. I have deleted my question from FB. If I could, I would here as well. Sorry!

No monster at all. You asked a question and I am glad you did and you got people's opinions. It would be a sorry state of affairs if people could not ask questions on here.

I can see starting lists and accumulating information, but I don't think anythigng should be locked/closed/decided before 12/31/11.

First of all, I think a lot of people on this cruise still haven't realized that the end of December is final payment day for everyone (in spite of what their paperwork or the web site says). Having to pay up right at Holiday time may be an issue for some people and most of the threads I've been on for special itinararies lose about 5% of the people who booked opening day anyway. (This is Jackie math...nothing I can document.)

I can understand people who are crafting or special ordering items for FEs wanting to get a head start and one would need to, but locking anything down before final payment could shut out any DIS folks who are able to book in January when cabins open up. However, there really is no reason WE can't agree now that FE groups wouldn't be more than 25 (or whatever) cabins. Right?

.....my thoughts as of this moment in time......

.

I agree that it is to early to go into specifics. For instance I don't intend to even start planning the jewellery workshops until the first of the new year. However, I do think it is a good idea to nail things down in principle so that people can start thinking over ideas for Fish Extenders and start getting stuff or materials. For instance I will consider different projects if I do gifts for everybody than if I just do it for 25 cabins.

Yes, DIS...

Yes, DIS...

:thumbsup2

DIS should be the planning place....

I am confused, I guess. If the FB group is closed and you have to be invited to join, then how are people finding that without knowing about the DIS? :confused3

I think there is only one person on the Facebook group that is not on here and going by the name, this is probably Laura's son. There are a number of people that are quite active on the Facebook group, but lurk on here.

Do you know how decisions are being made for different activities ? I ask because there has already been alot of discussion regarding the FE being broken up into groups. I thought majority rules. :confused3 I waited before I ordered my things and checked here first. I realize you can't make everyone happy, that being said how could it hurt putting FE in groups ? You could sign up for as many groups as you want to. If the person who is in charge of FE makes the decision then I guess I just have to wait till she can find the time to get on here. I am sure I am not the only one who plans ahead.

Well I agree. I think I was just meaning that it has to actually be decided on if you know what I mean, not that Heather has to do the deciding for everyone. Of course it is a group decision. :thumbsup2 I am not doing FE this time so it doesn't matter to me so I haven't commented on what I would prefer if I had been. Well at least since I decided I wasn't participating anyway, which is a looooong time ago.

Of course, see my post above, I didn't say folk couldn't decide or anything(none of my business) but just that the decision hadn't been made yet, or at least made public if you know what I mean. I wasn't saying that the FE group leader had to make the decision all on her little ownesome. Poor Heather.

Overall I thought I was trying to be helpful but I don't think I write my posts that well so perhaps it comes over as not. Ah well. I don't think I make a good lurker but!!

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Did everyone have a lovely weekend?

We hadn't been to a party in years - but THIS weekend we were invited and went to TWO. I'd forgotten what a good time they are when one is not doing all the work oneself! Originally, they were both scheduled for Sunday, but the early one was postponed due to rain. So we went to the late one on Sunday and the early one yesterday - then came home and had another chum over for dinner - which we could hardly eat thanks to having eaten at the party before hand. FUN weekend.

If any of you are going to be at WDW for October 14th, the 13 year old sister of a DIS Make-a-Wish child is going to be playing the opening set at the House of Blues - she's good, so you might want to put it on your calendar. Wish I could be there!

Happy Day, all.

Finally managed to get a hold on a cabin for this cruise.
Now see if we can get it all worked out with leaves from work, kids and school.

Kids would only miss 2 1/2 days of school, so hopefully we can extend our vacation and spend some time at Disneyland after the cruise:thumbsup2

Now, obviously I haven't read through all 178 pages of this thread, is there a compiled post with all the major events and information?

Hi and welcome. Yes, Birkner(Noel) does have a 'welcome wagon' post which has all the relevant information in.

Just got back from the beach and was surprised about the discussion of Disboards vs Facebook. I too think the Disboards should be where opinions are stated and decissions are made, but that is only my opinion. If the FE groups are divided up into groups of 25 I will certainly give everyone on the list a little gift. I always bring a few extra things and also some extra kids things.

Did anyone get a group rate from Paradise Pier Yet?

We had a GREAT 4th on Folly Beach :banana:a flyover of 4 F16s :cool1:and lots of Fireworks :scared1:Have Fun

My "Welcome Wagon" post for this cruise is not yet up to date as I am still busy with the WBTA in September. I hope to get it updated this week and post for review by event organizers.

Well stated and I agree.:thumbsup2 I am not looking for names or cabin numbers. I just think it should be decided if it's groups or not for FE and I think it should be voted on. This thing called life gets in the way many times. I have also seen my share of people having to cancel a cruise.:sad1:

Sandy, please don't worry....thats why this board is here to ask questions with hope to get answer. And discussion is good.....this way we can all tell our opinion and get some things cleared out....

:thumbsup2 I hope people will continue to ask questions and not shy away from this thread.

Yes, DIS...

I don't think there is anyone over on FB that isn't on the dis.:confused3 You have to be invited to join FB from someone who is here. I think the info. for that is on first page.

I understand Marilyn. :thumbsup2 I don't know Heather and haven't seen any of her posts. I do feel bad for her, what a job she has in front of her.

I haven't heard anything. I know Bev ( Mickeymom923 ) was working on different prices for Hotels. I wanted to book something by the weekend but I just can't decide. I am more worried about flights.

Saw the same F16s ! Pretty cool. :)

Hey all! Well I do hope that nobody thinks I contributed to any sort of drama or strife about the fish extenders and/or the DIS-FB discussion :sad2:....as I said in one of my last posts, I am sure it's going to be amazing no matter where folks decide to chat and/or what activities they decide to do or not do. That's the amazing thing about DIS Cruising----CHOICES!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 I have done DIS threads and activities for every cruise since the inaugural TransAtlantic back in 2007 and the DIS has absolutely changed the way I cruise....we're more social and more active as a result of these threads and we've made some amazing life-long friends, as well. Like most things in life, of course, there's good and bad----but the good of cruising with fellow DISers always outweighs anything else.

On a more unrelated note----we've passed the 200 mark for lanyards now! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: So keep those lanyard requests coming!! :thumbsup2

FYI.....if anyone is interested in a verandah...there are 2 available right now...

based on 2 adults:
4B - $10302.22
4A - 10722.22

Gee....it would only cost me $6,000 to upgrade from my oceanview!

Welcome on board. I hope that you can work everything out.

Good day everyone :) Hope everyone had a great weekend.

There has been a lot of talk about the FE. I do have one request though since I am not very crafty. I purchase my gifts pre made. Things that we usually hand out come in an even number count (6,12,24 etc) If we spilt the FE into groups, could we make it 24 instead of 25? I know it is weird request but I would be grateful.

Thanks :)

Hi everyone! Justed booked a GTY cabin for this cruise. I'm sooo excited, I've been trying to book a cabin on this cruise forever. It's been sold out, as I'm sure you all know. Very happy to be sailing to Hawaii, it hasn't quit sunk in yet. My DH and I sailed this past April on the Dream which was awesome, we haven't sailed on the Wonder in a few years. The Dis-boarders for the Dream cruise were wonderful people, I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you. I think it's just great that we get to be on the very first cruise my Disney to go to Hawaii. I'm already wondering what the entertainment will be and what excursions will be available. Well I have 178 pages to catch up on, so, good night!

I agree - it sure has loosened us up:rotfl2:

if the group is 25, and I'm in it, doesn't that mean I give to 24? :confused3

I agree - especially as far in the future as this cruise is, anything could happen - I hope nothing bad DOES, but ya never know, do you?

To all a GOOD night.
