April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Inagural Wonder to Hawaii-Part 4

HELLO ALL!

I was wondering if some of you MIGHT consider doing me a very special favor!? I sailed the Wonder on the 2011 Pacific REPO cruise (LA to Vancouver), and the Inaugural Alaska cruise. We linked reservations with other DISers (table of 9), and had a WONDERful server named Tobias (Toby).

DW and I normally retain the gratuity receipts from our cruises, so we can refer to the stubs if we need to recall the names of previous cast members. Unfortunately, we cannot find the 2011 gratuity stubs.

Some of the 2011 DISers we sailed with - have linked reservations to sail on the March 2013 WB Panama Canal on the Wonder. We would LOVE to surprise our server, by requesting him once again. Unfortunately, we cannot remember his last name (we THINK he was from the Netherlands). We've already contacted DCL (shore-side), who said they do not generally know the last names of servers.

*** WOULD SOMEONE *PLEASE* consider asking their HEAD SERVER to check their crew member roster for server(s) with a first name of Tobias (in each rotation) still listed on the Wonder? After having searched for TOBIAS on DISboards ... I have found only a few references of him working with DCL in 2002 and 2004 ... though nothing lists his last name.

I'd certainly appreciate your assistance! Since I will not be subscribing to this thread, PLEASE feel free to contact me with PM. :yay:

Steven

PS: In an effort to help other DISers find out if their favorite server / cast member is still with DCL (and if so, on which ship), I created a thread on DISboards. Check it out, and remember to post the names (first and last, where possible) of your recent servers, as well as and upcoming servers ... so others will be able to reunite with their servers.

Oh...that's real close to her. While her DH is on the ship she is splitting her time between her In-Laws (In Ladera Ranch) and us in San Diego. Before her DH went to work on the ship he worked at Disneyland.

I commend her cause I don't know if I would be able to do any of it lol. Let her know she is welcome to contact me, if she wants to, on here or on FB if she has one my name is Megan Elliott if she does :)

Late arrivals for the FE group....would you please post your stateroom numbers and number of people including amount of kids with ages and sex so my DW and I can add you to our list. You can send us a PM if you prefer.

Thanks.

Tom & Marilou 6003

Two adults in Room #7608. Thank you for adding us to your list. :)

Corinna...apologizes to start with  I cannot find the post with what day my workshop is. I added it to calendar as soon as I read it, but apparently computer decided not to save that days calendar additions when I closed it for the day, despite my actually doing a save. :(

A lot of you have probably already seen this on Facebook, but I decided to post here, too. I now have something to celebrate on this cruise. After living in the UK for nearly 16 years, I have finally decided to apply for British Citizenship. The first step in this process is sitting and passing the Life in Britain test. This is fiendishly difficult and a lot of British people cannot pass this either. Well, I have been studying every spare minute that I had for the last 3 weeks and yesterday I passed this on the first attempt. I am so relieved. As soon as I get back from our vacation, I will put in the application and hopefully when I go to WDW in November, it will be with a British passport.

I have been informed of a fairly embarrassing mistake on the Candy Swap list, I got my own cabin number wrong - we are in 2583 - I transposed two numbers. :rotfl2:

This affects groups 1,2&3. I'll republish the list once I get home from Australia tomorrow.

Sorry!

(no candy for me if you can't find the cabin!)

YEAAAAaa Corinna!:cool1:

I

GUESS WHAT!!!????!!!!
I just got a retirement gift in the mail from the team of people I worked with in LA. A Disney gift card for
TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS!!!

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

.

Congrats! That's GREAT timing!

Hoping I can find a wine shop within walking distance of DL - Fivepin got me started drinking Rosa Regale on a previous cruise. I rarely drink - but that ? oh yeah!

Happy Day, all!

Good Morning - Aloha Kakahiaka....

Getting into Hilo early is such a nice bonus. I am still reeling with trying to decide what to do with the extra time, but it shall be put to good use.

And I see I have lots to catch up on since yeasterday.

I wish everyone a perfect day today.:goodvibes

A few poi-pouri comments

Go with Thrifty. The site http://www.hawaiicruisecars.com/ has codes with good prices. They have shuttles in all the ports and get good reviews on Cruise Critic. If you go with Thrifty be sure to sign up for Blue Chip it will get you in and out much faster.

Thanks - still on my list, from yesterday, is to sort out the rental cars.....

I think I'm crazy! I'm packed besides toiletries, and hopefully have everything I need from upstairs now, coz I can't get back up there! Silly woman!!!! :sad2:

Same here --- other that the missing upstairs part...you are a trooper....

Cheeky pets! My dog knows the minute the luggage comes out that something is going on, She gets all sad and sulky.

The cats are being extra attentive......

I hope it all goes well too! Praying for no rain while we are away so they can finish all the really bad stuff, like the roof! :headache:

I hope you get your wish. We will take all the rain that you can send us so that the housesitter does not have to worry about watering the plants. Is it a DEAL?

I only know about the wine shop that will deliver to the hotel (posted link on fb, I think...Off The Vine).
Thanks for the hint. If I were driving, I'd pick up your favourite and bring it with you...

What a lovely and meaningful surprise!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am glad that you managed to sort this out.

I love the pins, but I can't believe that there is not one with Stitch.

Corinna

And no Chip & Dale Either....

Just checked the itinerary and we are now listed to get into Hilo at 9:30am! (9:30 - 7:30)

YAY..............

We have a 12:10 p.m. flight out of LAX. DCL told us that taking DCL transportation would be fine as the ship will be in port by no later than 7:00 a.m. We were told that the only issue may be luggage - because of the timing, we may wish to carry off our own luggage and go to the bus, as opposed to leaving it outside of our stateroom and then reclaiming it after customs - we were told to double-check with Guest Services after we are on board.

In any event, it's entirely too depressing talking about the END of this cruise before it even begins!!

Love your disname.....Empress Room was where we had our honeymoon dinner....(yes, as Hubby would say, we are "older"......we remember WDW when it had two hotels and the campground had a working railroad.

That had to be back in the 70's. DW and I and 3 DS stayed at the campground at that time. Nice to see there are other "Old Timers" out there. See ya on the Wonder. Do you remember the "Empress Lily"?

Oh yes, And the swan boats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Singles lunches on most cruises, most days - but you don't have to be single, just traveling alone. It's a group table (tables) hosted by a member of the cruise staff, usually in Parrot Cay.

Usually they have a Singles Lunch (as well as a College Club lunch) hosted table on the sea days. However, on my January MR there was one sea day when it was just College Club scheduled without a Singles one. Also, on the Wonder PC cruise last January, I think there was only one or two Singles Lunch tables scheduled at the beginning of the cruise and then none after that.

I've also seen afternoon (and sometimes evening) "Singles Mingle" meets scheduled up in the Cove Cafe (and sometimes Diversions).

I try to attend as many of the singles/solos meets as I can to support them and show there's interest.

I just hope that with DCL's attention to this thread, they haven't decided to scale back cruise-hosted activities because of all the stuff y'all are independently scheduling.

We too remember the early days at DW. We camped at FT Wilderness and enjoyed it very much but now the prices there are quite high.

Congrats! Good luck with the rest of the process!

Amy - don't they usually try to compete rather than scaling back?:lmao:
