Corinna, even if we are doing more than one group, I can't see us expecting to get more than one gift from anyone.

Well, I have 9 different gifts per person for everybody who signed up for all groups from the get go. All my adult gifts and most of the gifts for the children are home-made and I had great fun making them, but enough is enough. I have neither the time nor the supplies to make more.

That would be me, too. I hope your husband tests your desserts before you eat them. mine found a slice of raw banana in the bottom of a chocolate tart. We've been really careful since then

Fortunately I do not have a sweet tooth as a rule and much prefer appetizers to dessert. I also tend to gravitate to chocolate based desserts, which Graham can't sample for me as he is allergic to chocolate.

GOOD Morning, Happy Cruisers!

Group transportation from where?

LOL, Sorry.. it was in title of post but not body. Transportation from the Villas at Grand Californian (or that general area) to the Port. There was a whole sign up page on the spreadsheet.... but I have no idea who started it or if I missed it! :confused3

Was Heather aware of this? I will add you to the all groups list. I am having a mild panic at the moment. I have spares for the main gifts, but for those doing more groups or all groups I did a bunch of different gifts for each group. I have some spares for two or three of them, but not for all.

I never got around to getting some soft serve ice cream on our Mexican Riviera cruise in October. This is normally my favourite treat. Are the flavours clearly labelled? I am fiercely allergic to banana and I am worried that I accidentally end up with some.

We have done two or three Pirates Nights in the dining room. It is just too noisy for our liking. If we cannot get a Palo reservation then we will just head to Beach Blanket Buffet that night.

I am planning on doing that this time. As we are on deck 2 this time round and seem to spend a lot of our time on deck 9 (spa, adult pool, Cove/ Outlook Cafe), I should get plenty of exercise.

I am sorry that Marilou has to go through this. Hopefully the surgery can be scheduled for soon after this vacation so that she has plenty of recovery time before the next one.

The problem has been that there have been a bunch of good ideas, but a lack of people who were willing to organize things. It seemed to be the same people over and over again.

I have added her to the late additions list. Could you let me know her first name please?

Corinna

Thanks, her name is Ann!

Corinna as soon as you can talk to the head waiter and ask him to please find out if there is banana in any of the soft serve ice creams going to be served on the ship and to warn you if any is included in anything on menu but not stated. They are wonderful about giving my daughter heads up when I have asked about things she is allergic to.

freaking out is how I am about to do...they started fiddling with my daughters meds :stir: again and one of the new ones is causing rapid weight gain :( even when she barely eats...Can't take her off any to try and stop this (if they were sure which one or ones is responsible) or she may not feel up to making trip so this means new clothes at the last minute. She is miserable about it and I am stressed because she isn't able to :drive: anymore so I have to take her shopping once we get final list of necessities and then wash :laundy: and get ready for trip. We had hoped for a much more relaxed week before we leave but not going to happen. When I stress I eat and if I don't watch it I will be wearing a lot of clothes over and over and over because they will be all that fit :rotfl2:

Love our new smiley faces...

I haven't been on the Dis lately.....working and my mom is here for a few days, I am sorry about your daughter...is she the one that likes Goofy? I am going to go to the Cast Connection again this weekend after I work, I will look for a Goofy shirt for her!

OK....kind of a downer day. DW just found out that she has to have a knee replacement. She went through the injections, then knee surgery but the arthritis is killing her. Doctor wanted to do the injections again, but insurance company rejected since she has had them before. They feel that if they did not work the first time they won't work a second. I understand that to a certain degree, but they would rather spend $30,000 for a replacement than spend the money for the injections. Next problem, when to have the surgery. Four days in the hospital for surgery, one to two weeks in rehab hospital and then physical therapy. All told, about 3 or 4 months from beginnng to end. We have this cruise, a 5 day out of NY in September and then 7 night on the Fantasy in December. Guess she will have the surgery end of May or beginning of June. Then she can look forward to the September Canada cruise. It just does not get easier--guess that is what happens when you get old.....er.

 to you both as you explore alternatives
research the plan
make arrangements
and
commit to the program

Also will be trying to secure a second time on Pirate night. We have never been to the regular dining rooms for Pirate night. Maybe we are missing out on something?
.

I'm sure there are folks who love the Pirate menu, but we are over it.

So sorry to hear that; I hope all goes well for her.

Dimples says it's not "chubby" it's FLUFFY!

LOVE that!! Dimples is so smart!

......Corinna

On our last couple cruises, on different DCL ships, it seemed that the hoop-la in the dining room was toned down and the menu was different. A much more mellow experience. ::yes::

On the DREAM the CROWD made it IMPOSSIBLE to see the Pirate Show and the Mickey drop so we found a railing and watched the fireworks before heading to bed. In Alaska there were no fireworks so we did not even go topside. :sad2:

I am hoping Hawaii is a better experience and will give me one more reason to add to my list of why I like the Classic Ships better. :thumbsup2

(But I still want to try the FANTASY and a longer cruise on a New Ship than the 4 night DREAM cruises.)

AND
PS: :cheer2: I can log into the DIS on my computer!! Since Sunday all I could do was log in through my i-phone with it set on 3G and wifi turned off!! I did not change anything so it was on the DIS side and now it works WHA-HOO :cool1:

HEY! :yay: I understand completely! I have been putting off getting a knee replacement for 5 years......cortisone shots:(, synthetic knee joint injections.:furious:....laproscopy..:furious:.....exercise......:rotfl:

I am FINALLY going to do it after we get moved into our new house! We close on the house about a month after we get back from Hawaii.....

Then I will DO it! I have talked to so many people who have had it done, and they keep telling me it's worth it! Especially here at the Villages......now I just have to decide which doctor, and which hospital I want to have it done at......then I'll be jumping around again!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Tell her if she has questions about what I said she will see me onboard ...very chubby (hate word fat) 64.80 year old pushing my 42 yr old daughter in a wheelchair...or if alone I will be using a walker or cane :thumbsup2

I am the 59 year old chubby mom pushing my 34 year old son in the wheelchair, no cane for me yet, but I'll be having my knee surgery when I get settled this summer......I agree on the research on the orthopedist and the type of knee, but I do know not to do a "partial knee" if you have arthritis......and that's what most of us here at The Villages have. :goodvibes

Jan, so glad the DIS let you back again. How strange that you couldn't get on while others were back already. Glad it's over and you're here!!

What time were you planning on going? There are 2 of us and we wanted to get to the port when it opens around 10:30. We would be interested. I was getting ready to start looks into that today. We are doing DCL transfer from the ship. I still need something from the airport to VGC and then VGC to ship.

We were thinking of leaving around 9am... also wanting to get to the port around opening time (or earlier!) :thumbsup2 They just need to know number of passengers and number of bags.
Airport to VGC is easy.. just walk outside from the luggage pick up and there is the Disneyland Express... no need for reservations... they go when they get a full van and there always seems to be a full van!! I believe it was $16per person.
Still trying to figure out how to get from ship to LAX when we get back. We have a 12:20pm flight which is too early for Disney transportation. :confused3 Probably get Super Shuttle or Primetime again,

Hi Connie. John is going to have to get knee replacement someday soon too. He has a lot of pain and he wears knee braces. It doesn't help.

It's great to hear about the flavored Soft Serve. They had that on the Magic in Ict and we were really wondering if it won make it over to the Wonder. My trick to keeping the pounds off on the ship has nothing to do with deck 4 or the gym, I just do not use the elevators. I run up and down the real things instead of the imaginary ones at the gym.

This is what we used to do until knees gave out on us - now we do stairs occasionally, but hit the gym for the bikes for exercise!

These are great, but what I really need is Cayla's list of participants by deck, for those of us doing all groups, and not giving different gifts based on age or gender, that list it THE MOST helpful list.

So, Cayla, are you out there? And by the way, Cayla -- CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :cheer2:

Beth

Beth, there is one list of everyone by stateroom number on page 200.

Attention FE Group 4: Is there anyone in this list besides Cayla (Padalyn) who have unrelated folks in one room? Our gift is per stateroom, and I need to know which rooms will need 2 of them. Thanks.

I had both knees done at once about 4 years ago. I would not recommend doing both together but I am pain free. I still get some swelling on the left one and if I do a lot of walking. When we go to DW i rent a scooter to get around. I too went through the shots etc but to no avail. They have made many improvemnts even from four years ago, The thing to remember is to do the therapy no matter how hard it is. After rehab I went to Pt for at least another month or so. It was worth it in the end.

We went to see the shuttle Discovery mounted on a 747 makes it last flight around the area and now it is heading up to Washington DC. It was a very emotional for those people who worked on it for 30 years. It flew over Jetty Park where the cruises leave from and then to Cocoa Beach and then to Patrick AIr Force Base. It then flew back to where we were and made a final loop over the space center. It was something to see. I wish I knew how to post pic.

Corinna, the soft serve flavors are labeled at the top if the machine but you have to look up to see them. The chocolate and vanilla were always in the same machine and the other various flavors were always in the other machine. Since your allergy is so severe, I'd be concerned about kids wanting the banana flavor and the chocolate favor together and possibly transferring the banana ice cream to the chocolate machine.

Also, I have forgotten what I have signed up for! I signed up for the Navigator right?? Thanks for all you hard work!

We found a winery that we are going to on Maui.

Are we restricted to 2 bottles per person? I know when we went to Madeira, we could only bring in 2 bottles per person through customs.

Thanks
