Just picked up some trip insurance...usually don't wait this late for THAT task. :sad2:

Now off to assorted websites to put stuff on hold and advise of travel plans.

Hi everyone.

Wow...I can't believe what a huge thread this is...there is not way I can read through it all so please forgive me if I'm missing something.

Anyway our DD (25) just found out last night that she will be on this cruise. She is so excited because she has never been to Hawaii.

She will be accompanying her DH who just started as a mainstage entertainer on board the Wonder on April 1st.

So basically there will be times when he is working that she will be on her own so I was just wondering what kind of events have been planned that maybe she can be a part of.

I'm hoping to get her on the boards so that you can all get to know her a little in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for your help.

We were thinking of leaving around 9am... also wanting to get to the port around opening time (or earlier!) :thumbsup2 They just need to know number of passengers and number of bags.
Airport to VGC is easy.. just walk outside from the luggage pick up and there is the Disneyland Express... no need for reservations... they go when they get a full van and there always seems to be a full van!! I believe it was $16per person.
Still trying to figure out how to get from ship to LAX when we get back. We have a 12:20pm flight which is too early for Disney transportation. :confused3 Probably get Super Shuttle or Primetime again,

I have a 12:20 flight and have signed up for the Disney transportation...

We found a winery that we are going to on Maui.

Are we restricted to 2 bottles per person? I know when we went to Madeira, we could only bring in 2 bottles per person through customs.

Thanks

What is the name of the Winery and where is it in relation to our pier?

I have no idea how many bottles you can import, but I bet you could call DCL and ask. If you buy more than that, you can drink them on the way home :thumbsup2

Page 1 Post 1 has some info but some of the activities are closed. There is a Fish Extender group for the late comers--hopefully someone will post the link, I could not find it just now. There should be extra lanyards so if she comes to the DIS GATHERING at 3 PM in Promenade Lounge (and brings her DH--we loved to meet CMs!!) on EMBARKATION DAY she can meet folks and should be able to get a lanyard!

OK....kind of a downer day. DW just found out that she has to have a knee replacement. She went through the injections, then knee surgery but the arthritis is killing her. Doctor wanted to do the injections again, but insurance company rejected since she has had them before. They feel that if they did not work the first time they won't work a second. I understand that to a certain degree, but they would rather spend $30,000 for a replacement than spend the money for the injections. Next problem, when to have the surgery. Four days in the hospital for surgery, one to two weeks in rehab hospital and then physical therapy. All told, about 3 or 4 months from beginnng to end. We have this cruise, a 5 day out of NY in September and then 7 night on the Fantasy in December. Guess she will have the surgery end of May or beginning of June. Then she can look forward to the September Canada cruise. It just does not get easier--guess that is what happens when you get old.....er.

So sorry she is dealing with this pain.

Since Hawaii is one of the states there is no customs restrictions on things purchased there. :thumbsup2 Just aboard ship and in Mexico. How much wine can you carry? ;)

Tedeschi winery is about 30 miles away. We're renting scooters (bringing our own helmets) and touring the island.

This is great...thank you! I don't know about the FE because she will be staying her her husbands cabin in the crew area. But I will tell her about he Gathering...Welcome aboard days are pretty hectic for the entertainers (they have a Welcome Aboard production) so I'm no sure if her DH would be able to come, but I'm sure you will meet at some point. :)

I read some people wanted to join the FE, Please PM, me. Names, if any children please add ages and room numbers and I will add you to ours, I will take request all the way to 5 days prior to the cruise. :flower3:

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

I've tried sending you PMs twice now with a request and they send but then I see no record of them, have they been received? I don't want to fill your inbox with the same email.

Thanks,
Amy

I was about to make some magnets from ya'lls super cool graphics, but the link on page 1 is not working...could someone please refer me. Thanks tons and tons!!!:yay:

You don't have customs for anything purchased in Hawaii only from Mexico. If you find something you really like and want more than a few bottles maybe they would deliver to ship so you don't have to carry them on the scooter :)

Just want to say, Corinna, you rock!!! Thanks for all you've done! :thanks:

You are buying wine made in USA and disembarking the ship for your home in USA, I don't believe that customs figures into that equation.

DH is taking his tux. He will be the one ordering the martini shaken and not stirred...:goodvibes But it will also be worn with a shirt and tie for other nights. We are good to go....

Awesome - I love to see cruisers getting into the spirit of formal nights!! Sounds very :cool1:

OK guys, I love reading all of your exciting posts and I am so thankful for all of you that have added us in in the last minute for the FE's. But now I have NEWS!
We have just convinced my MOM (a very healthy 85 year old) to join the cruise! I have just spend the last 2 hours on the phone with the TA and then on line lining her up for all our events.
All I ask is if all you great folks that have stepped up to add us to your FEs and might have an extra to jot down her room number...6637 and drop something in her box......

Yay! Glad she will be coming too!! Wish I could get my mom to cruise...she doesnt know what she's missing. I'll be sure to add her to my list. :goodvibes

The nice thing is if your bag is 51lbs (or 55 or 70) you don't have the worry. My normal bag weight is 35-45 lbs but knowing I can bump it up to 70 makes things a lot easier. I'm bringing a couple of special bottles of wine from home so there's some extra weight without trying. I'm excited about our flight to LA...we're on a 777 with flat beds. It's only a few hours but I don't get to fly with a flat bed seat often so it's always fun. Too bad you only get champagne with intl departures. A cocktail will have to do. ;)

Ah, love the flat beds....my only experience with them was once when they gave away my seat so bumped me to the cool seats!! :cloud9: What a fun way to start your vacation!!

Just want to say, Corinna, you rock!!! Thanks for all you've done! :thanks:

^^ What she said!!! :cheer2:

Thanks, her name is Ann!

I have updated this on the spreadsheet.

Corinna as soon as you can talk to the head waiter and ask him to please find out if there is banana in any of the soft serve ice creams going to be served on the ship and to warn you if any is included in anything on menu but not stated. They are wonderful about giving my daughter heads up when I have asked about things she is allergic to.

This is the first Disney cruise where I have declared my allergy. I am normally pretty good at managing it and just avoid things that I am not 100% sure about. However, having looked at some Hawaiian recipes, there may be hidden bananas in all kinds of dishes. I have also requested a particular head server. We had the most fantastic server on the PC in 2011 and he got promoted to head server about two weeks later. Graham blurted out that I was allergic on the last night of the cruise and our server asked why I did not tell him. I explained to him that I had a very bad experience with a cruise on another cruise line where I was made to feel very uncomfortable and have not declared my allergy since. He told me that any server worth his salt would effectively manage this and keep me safe without making a fuss. So he can go and prove this to me.

On our last couple cruises, on different DCL ships, it seemed that the hoop-la in the dining room was toned down and the menu was different. A much more mellow experience. ::yes::

I am actually quite partial to the menu. Graham does not rate it at all. That is where the idea of Palo came in. He mentioned that he would eat at Beach Blanket Buffer that night and I told him that they would still serve the same menu.

Corinna, the soft serve flavors are labeled at the top if the machine but you have to look up to see them. The chocolate and vanilla were always in the same machine and the other various flavors were always in the other machine. Since your allergy is so severe, I'd be concerned about kids wanting the banana flavor and the chocolate favor together and possibly transferring the banana ice cream to the chocolate machine.

Also, I have forgotten what I have signed up for! I signed up for the Navigator right?? Thanks for all you hard work!

That's great. I do not mind looking up. You do have a valid point about cross-contamination though. This had not even occurred to me. This is something else to discuss with the head server when I get on board. Of course it could be that it is just banana flavour rather than containing any real banana, but I will have to find this out when I get on the ship.

:wave2: Hello I knew I remembered your name from somewhere. Didn't I do the wonder 25 cast design (still one of my favs) for you? Anyways, welcome to your DD :goodvibes there is going to be plenty to do and plenty of people to meet. Me for one ,who is a few months short of being 25 will gladly be around the ship (and whose mother will greatly appreciate someone taking me off her hands :rotfl2:) but for now welcome :)

I have you noted down for the booklet version to print.

Goodness, I never knew this. We had a lot more than that on the WBTA in 2010 and nobody said anything. We bought a couple of bottles of sparkling wine for Champagne Girls, 3 bottles of still wine, a gift set of different Madeira wines and a half bottle of Madeira. Most of this was drunk on the ship. I think we still had the half bottle of Madeira and half the gift set when we entered the USA and that was enjoyed at Bay Lake Tower.

You are very welcome.
