April 29, 2012 ~ Aloha! ~ Inagural Wonder to Hawaii-Part 3

So, long story short, FH (Nick) and I are having a wedding on April 28th, and then we are going on this cruise as our honeymoon :cool1:
Well we asked Nick's grandpa to perform our ceremony because he is a retired pastor and we love him very very much. He agreed to do it, but he informed us that his license to legally marry couples is now expired. But we still wanted him to do it so we decided to just go to the JP before the wedding day.
Well it has always been my dream to have a Disney Wedding, but due to most of Nick's family not wanting to travel we agreed to have it here. And since we found out about the whole having to go to the JP thing we started talking about doing the whole cruise ceremony to get legally married on the Disney Cruise.
After telling my parents that I was interested in it, they asked if they could pay for the Disney Cruise Wedding as a wedding gift to us!!!

So long story short,

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED ON THE CRUISE!!!!

My parents paid for it yesterday (:worship:) and the coordinator will be contacting me in the next few days!

I'm very very excited! It's a dream come true. But hopefully it will not be too difficult, as I'm still stessing about my wedding here like crazy! :scared1:

Seeing as it is only me and Nick on the cruise, it will only be us at the ceremony, so that's kind of sad, but all will work out I'm sure.

Sorry for taking up all the space, I just had to share it will you all. Especially since I've been seeing everyone's DCL love stories :lovestruc

And as a side note:

The Disney Wonder is also where Nick proposed to me on our first cruise in Dec 2010. During the Christmas Tree lighting in the lobby, he got down on one knee in front of everyone and popped the question! I pretty much blacked out from surprise, but I remember that it was awesome. And all the Captains were standing right next to us so they asked to join in on our pics after I said yes :bride:

Congratulations ! Speaking from experience it is the best place to get married. As others have already stated........plenty of people on board to be " witness " for your special day. :yay:

For those participating in FE's....

there is a form to fill out - now in post nbr 1

Update for the transportation to/from Aulani: I spoke to Charlie's Taxi this morning (recommended by Aulani concierge) and we got a flat rate of $75 per vehicle each way. Each vehicle can hold about 6 people. Since some people in the group wanted to depart earlier than others, we may be able to arrange two vehicles for the return trip at different times. I know that my family is currently planning to leave the resort at 8:00pm, so please let me know if you would like to join us at 8:00pm, or if you would like to leave at an earlier time (and what time you would like to suggest). Thanks!

Can somebody help with with understanding about linked dinning on the ship? How this works and if there is a larger party, do they try to put you together at the same table or just two tables close together? This is our 2nd cruise and we didn't do linked dinning the first time around, but we would like it this time.

I know others have answered already----but if you link a huge group together they usually try to put you at adjacent tables but they won't usually seat more than 8 people at one table in my experience.

Well...let's just make that official, why don't we?

3PM DISMEET PROMENADE LOUNGE EMBARKATION DAY!

Tables/comfy chairs/bartender.....need I say more?

.

Sounds like a plan to me!!

Maybe we should add this to Post #1 as an "official" DIS activity (and folks should also share the info on facebook and wherever else members of our group are hanging out)

Everyone who has paid for a confirmed cruise shirt (not the waiting list) should have received an e-mail with their USPS standarized mailing address and at the bottom of the form, their cruise shirt and material quantity and size information.

If you have not received this message please e-mail me at valbob89. You do not need to contact me if you received the message and all info is correct.

Anyone who wishes to order a shirt may e-mail me too.

Val

Thats good.... well hubby reminded me last night that we were on the inaugaral Alaska and had the one rough sea day going on the outside and we had the champagne girls that day and I was quite fine

There is ALWAYS rough water heading out of Seattle or Vancouver to the open ocean...shouldn't have that out of San Pedro, but if we did it would be first day.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to say Hi and and remind you that we are almost under 100 days left before the big party! And I am at post #6 so I can't reply to anyone's messages yet!

Hahahahahahaha. Working on it people, working on it!

Roy

Hi All,

Me again! Post #7. Count us in for the meeting at the lounge! We can't wait to meet all the nice people from DIS!

Roy

I seriously doubt I will be at the Lounge at 3. Sorry. I know I won't be at Sail away either. That bottle I showed you will not drink it self. I have plans at the cove then.

If you get married on the Deck 7 Veranda, the Disboarders can watch from the back of Topsiders. And of course the adjacent verandas, if they belong to Dis-ers.

Judy...I too suffer from Arthritis...at a scrapbook show I attended I saw there was a kit to switch out the posts for straps....I think they were called Strap Load and they were made by Pioneer...I too now purchase the 3 ring 12X12 binders from either Hobby Lobby or JoAnn's...

I think it's SNAP Load. Here's the how to video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAcadigg0-c

Good Question-----no, no final decisions have been made.....although I've organized lanyards a few times for cruises and I've always done it pretty similarly...so I imagine I'll do it that way this trip, too. I always bring the name badges in a box rubberbanded together by traveling party and in alphabetical order by DIS name. I then also bring a printout of the list sorted in sequential order by stateroom #.

The basics of how I've passed out lanyards in the past is:

1.) I've usually arrived at the port early and set up shop to distribute them while we wait to board. With the new system, though, I don't know that this will work that well. We're traveling with gold cruisers who got an 11am check-in time....but we're platinum, so I think that means we can board as soon as they open the ship----so there may be a short window of time that we can pass them out in the port, but not sure.

2.) If there is some kind of DIS meet aboard (like we've been on cruises that decide to do a meet in the Promenade Lounge at like 2:30 or 3pm so it's after lunch but before muster drill). If something like that gets set up, then we'll claim a table and hang out during that party and encourage folks to at least stop by and pick up their lanyards.

3.) We'll set up shot during the sail-away party, as well...up on Deck 10 overlooking the Goofy pool and it will be either me or Jason (if I decide I want to dance with the cruise staff!;)) passing them out up there.

4.) We usually carry all the lanyards that haven't been picked up around in a backpack on embarkation day.....so folks are always welcome if they see us out and about on the ship (we look very much like we do in our signature pics...and we'll have OUR lanyards on, obviously)---or even come by our room----and just say "Hey! Do you have our lanyards?!?!":rotfl2:

5.) And then everyone who has not picked them up by the end of second seating on embarkation day will get them delivered to their room late that night. Before we go to bed, Jason and I walk the halls checking out fish extenders and hanging remaining lanyards on people's fish...or putting them into their fish extenders. (NOTE: This is why it is absolutely critical that people make sure that there is at least ONE accurate stateroom # for every traveling party...because the room on my list is where the lanyards will get left.

Our goal is usually to try to be rid of all the lanyards before we go to bed that first night....so that we can start really enjoying the cruise!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am sure I'll post more specific instructions (as if you needed more specifics than the above! :lmao::lmao:) as it gets closer.

I'll help you at the meet if you want. I think DH will be in the Cove with Alan, having a beer.

I promised that I would ask a dear friend of mine, who is currently on the Wonder, to check who the Cruise Director and Captain will be on our cruise. She sent me a message from Puerto Vallarta today and we will have Captain Thord and Christian.
