Hi Beth....My mom and I were also on the Panama Canal cruise in 2005 and I'm pretty sure we met you and Harry on Kelly B's BAV on Panama Canal day!!!!!! BTW...Leslie & Joe (DisneyPinDiva) anniversary is also May 14...

Hi Elaine,

I remember you and your mother well. Yes, we were on Kelly B's balcony on PC day, but I also remember you stopping by our table at dinner fairly often to say hi.

I didn't know that Leslie and Joe 's anniversary was also the 14th! Of course, last time I saw them, Harry and I weren't married yet, and didn't even have a date set. We got married five years to the day after our meeting at the port.

Like I said before, it will be great to see everybody again.

Beth

Alan...this is for you...:p LOL!!!! Seriously congrats!!!!!!

I wonder how my life would be different if Disney had accepted my application to work in Canada Pavillion at Epcot back in the early 90's....but back then...Disney had a weight restriction and the CM that interviewed me walked me out and told me that unfortunately I did not "fit" Disney's image...he wanted to let me down gently so that I did not get my hopes up....I still have my rejection letter...

Congrats to all of you that have met your Disney Prince or Princess

Yes, all these love stories make me feel so happy for the people involved.

Elaine (and Monica), just keep doing what you like and the things that make you happy and that way you'll meet people who like the same things you do. You never know what life has in store for you.

Beth

Is anyone else having trouble with the DCL web site? I haven't been able to get on since early Sunday. I got the Port Adventures :thumbsup2 and wanted to do the on line check in later on in the day; but can't get past the sign on.:confused3

quick note ....we all should have our Hawaiian shirts on this day, so we all should be easy to spot....just pass the word if you see any of us

So, long story short, FH (Nick) and I are having a wedding on April 28th, and then we are going on this cruise as our honeymoon :cool1:
Well we asked Nick's grandpa to perform our ceremony because he is a retired pastor and we love him very very much. He agreed to do it, but he informed us that his license to legally marry couples is now expired. But we still wanted him to do it so we decided to just go to the JP before the wedding day.
Well it has always been my dream to have a Disney Wedding, but due to most of Nick's family not wanting to travel we agreed to have it here. And since we found out about the whole having to go to the JP thing we started talking about doing the whole cruise ceremony to get legally married on the Disney Cruise.
After telling my parents that I was interested in it, they asked if they could pay for the Disney Cruise Wedding as a wedding gift to us!!!

So long story short,

WE'RE GETTING MARRIED ON THE CRUISE!!!!

My parents paid for it yesterday (:worship:) and the coordinator will be contacting me in the next few days!

I'm very very excited! It's a dream come true. But hopefully it will not be too difficult, as I'm still stessing about my wedding here like crazy! :scared1:

Seeing as it is only me and Nick on the cruise, it will only be us at the ceremony, so that's kind of sad, but all will work out I'm sure.

Sorry for taking up all the space, I just had to share it will you all. Especially since I've been seeing everyone's DCL love stories :lovestruc

And as a side note:

The Disney Wonder is also where Nick proposed to me on our first cruise in Dec 2010. During the Christmas Tree lighting in the lobby, he got down on one knee in front of everyone and popped the question! I pretty much blacked out from surprise, but I remember that it was awesome. And all the Captains were standing right next to us so they asked to join in on our pics after I said yes :bride:

What a wonderful gift from your parents!!! As Monica said all us DISers will be celebrating with you!

You guys are killing me....I'm still looking for my Prince Charming and to find someone who shares my love of Disney would be icing on the cake for me....most people think I am strange because I live for Disney....but as ScottH says....I'm never growing up!!!!!

I'm right there with you...Where is my prince charming who loves Disney?

I spoke to Aulani this morning in order to get more information for those of you joining us for the day. They will not have the Starlit Hui that day, but they will have the Mo'olelo Storytelling as well as the Po La'ila'i Sunset Gathering (I have to call when the date gets closer in order to confirm the time). Although the Makai Preserve will be closed, Rainbow Reef will be open (additional charge of $20 for ages 10+ and $15 for 9 and below). The resort is about 45 minutes from the Port and they do not have a shuttle, but they did give me the names of the shuttle company they use so I can compare rates. At this point, our plan is to still meet in the morning after the ship clears customs and to leave Aulani around 8:00pm (that would give us an hour to get back to the ship and have 1.5 hours before the posted 'all aboard'.

Hello All:

After some sharing of concern by the Silvers and non-metallics that there will be no Luau spots left on Disney's Port Adventure to the Old Lahaina Luau, I posted on the FB page that I believe that there is a better alternative...

I have been to Maui several times and I think the BEST Luau is NOT the Old Lahaina Luau (OLL). The VERY best Luau is the Feast at Lele! (http://feastatlele.com/) :woohoo:

The food is incredible, there are stunning ocean views from every table and each party has its own private table. They are located at 505 Front St in Lahaina (just 7 blocks from the OLL). It's about the same 45 minute drive from the port in Kahului and they have availability for Saturday, the 5th if you are looking for another alternative. It is a little pricer than OLL ($115 for adults/$85 for kids 2-12 plus tax), but with car rental at only about $50/day or a group shuttle, it is a better deal to arrange transportation and go ourselves then to take the Disney port adventure and it is SO much better!!

So, having said all that, several folks on FB shared some interest so I am now putting together some quotes for transportation from the Kahului port to the Feast and back for Saturday, May 5th as well as coordinating for Feast reservations as to a group discount rate.

Since it is a much smaller venue, if we end up with 200+ who want to participate (incl. children), we could have the place all to ourselves.

We're still in the preliminary stages at this point, but if you'd like to consider this option of going to an amazing Luau with a bunch of crazy DISers, I'm game to make the arrangements.

Just go check-out the Feast's website, see if it sounds like something you'd like to consider and then PM me how many are in your group (and who is under 12) so I know just how many folks may want to participate.

Steph

A recent thread regarding early or late seating for dinner has my wheels turning! Right now I have early seating simply because that is when I typically eat. LOL Now I am wondering if I should get it switched to late seating. The kids will not be with me on this trip and I'm now slightly concerned about the time change. Hawaii is either 2 or 3 hours ahead (can't remember which!) of us on the west coast. Maybe late seating would be best for what my body is use to. When do we think they will change the clocks? Or am I just overthinking this?

Hawaii will be 3 hours behind us on the west coast. So if it's 8:00 PM in Honolulu it is 11:00 PM in L.A.

See Alan, another direct easy to understand answer :-) It seems to me that on my last cruise to Hawaii we changed the clock every night for the first three nights...but that was coming from Seattle so may be off one day further south.

Duh! I knew that...I should really give some thought to something before I type! LOL So early seating at 5:45 is really 8:45 here on the west coast. I think I'll keep the early seating. I guess I was confusing the timing with my Dream cruise next Aug. I was debating early or late on that cruise as well.

Oh wow...thats wonderful! :)

Can somebody help with with understanding about linked dinning on the ship? How this works and if there is a larger party, do they try to put you together at the same table or just two tables close together? This is our 2nd cruise and we didn't do linked dinning the first time around, but we would like it this time.

Hope you plan to go to San Diego Zoo...we are going there after the cruise..

Hi Judy, we have been there before, about 2 years ago. The girls loved it, especially the panda's. Since we only have 4 nights this time we are going to go to Legoland .... I think :confused3 and do some shopping :cool1:

Not sure we would be able to get yours all the way here for a grandparent trip....but, if you need temporary grandparents for awhile on this trip so you can do some adult time just let us know. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

Hahaha, Thanks, but that is what the kids club are for :thumbsup2
Just hoping there will be some nursery hours left for us lowly Silvers to book, fingers crossed!

We live here in San Diego, so let me know if you need any help in terms of knowing things to do, where to go, places to eat, etc...

Thanks Steph, I think we are going to take the kids to Legoland, there will be 2 girls and 2 boys aged 8-11 in our group, so I think that will keep them all happy. I absolutely loved Seaworld in Orlando, I am assuming it is much the same? My friend will take her 2 boys, but since we were there a year ago we will probably do something else that day.
We are staying at the Hotel Del Coronado, Is is nice?
And lastly - SHOPPING!!! Where are the best places to shop?

Answered you on FaceBook (Hayley Little), We're interested in this for sure, 4 adults, 4 kids and 1 baby. Thanks for organising! :flower3:

THREEBRITS - I have sent you FE forms, Thanks!!! :flower3:

Are you kidding?!?! Is the Hotel Del Coronado nice?!?! :confused3

Ummm...just in case you are NOT kidding - YES - it is amazing! You will absolutely love it!!

It is the largest wooden structure in the country (I think that is the claim to fame), but more importantly it was the backdrop for movies like "Some Like it Hot." It sits right on its own private beach and has loads of charm and good food and great grounds and pool. It is pricey though, I warn you...

It happens to sit on Coronado Island, an exclusive little stretch of land connected to downtown San Diego by a big blue bridge. The whole Coronado area is one great shopping area and totally quaint and walkable, but again PRICEY!

If you are going to LegoLand, then you should shop at the Carlsbad Shopping Outlet right on the way up (or back). Or, you can shop in downtown San Diego at Horton Plaza (for the mall experience) or at Seaport Village (for the tourist experience).

Let me know the kind of things you want to buy and I can point you in the right direction.
