Thanks Steph, I think we are going to take the kids to Legoland, there will be 2 girls and 2 boys aged 8-11 in our group, so I think that will keep them all happy. I absolutely loved Seaworld in Orlando, I am assuming it is much the same? My friend will take her 2 boys, but since we were there a year ago we will probably do something else that day.
We are staying at the Hotel Del Coronado, Is is nice?
And lastly - SHOPPING!!! Where are the best places to shop?

Hayley, your kids will love Legoland. Seaworld in San Diego is a bit smaller with not as many rides but we love it just as much.

My youngest DD Samantha is living there while going to law school. Our favorite mall is Fashion Valley which has every store you could possible want to browse.

Samantha works at the Cheescake Factory there in the mall part time so if you let me know when you might go, I could ask her if she is working. Also, if you want to PM me, I could ask her specific questions. If you need to speak with her directly, PM me and I will send you her email address.

The Del is the BEST hotel in my opinion in San Diego and have stayed many times though I preferred it before it was modernized!!

I spoke to Aulani this morning in order to get more information for those of you joining us for the day. They will not have the Starlit Hui that day, but they will have the Mo'olelo Storytelling as well as the Po La'ila'i Sunset Gathering (I have to call when the date gets closer in order to confirm the time). Although the Makai Preserve will be closed, Rainbow Reef will be open (additional charge of $20 for ages 10+ and $15 for 9 and below). The resort is about 45 minutes from the Port and they do not have a shuttle, but they did give me the names of the shuttle company they use so I can compare rates. At this point, our plan is to still meet in the morning after the ship clears customs and to leave Aulani around 8:00pm (that would give us an hour to get back to the ship and have 1.5 hours before the posted 'all aboard'.

Thanks for the update! Sounds great!!

I understand that the Grand Floridian in WDW was modeled after the Hotel Del Coronado!! I haven't been in years, but it was lovely. :hippie:

2.) If there is some kind of DIS meet aboard (like we've been on cruises that decide to do a meet in the Promenade Lounge at like 2:30 or 3pm so it's after lunch but before muster drill). If something like that gets set up, then we'll claim a table and hang out during that party and encourage folks to at least stop by and pick up their lanyards.
.

Well...let's just make that official, why don't we?

3PM DISMEET PROMENADE LOUNGE EMBARKATION DAY!

Tables/comfy chairs/bartender.....need I say more?

Can somebody help with with understanding about linked dinning on the ship? How this works and if there is a larger party, do they try to put you together at the same table or just two tables close together? This is our 2nd cruise and we didn't do linked dinning the first time around, but we would like it this time.

Linked Dining
We link our reservations so that we are seated in the same area for dining. DCL will group us in tables of 6 - 8 usually, but can be up to 10 if there is a request for that. We can request to sit with specific people within that group. For instance, you are traveling with another family. We could request you and that family be seated together, but your table would be in the same area as the other DISers. It makes for great DIS fun.

We originally booked a navigator and then when my mom said she wanted to go we went to a oceanview for the 4th person. She isnt going now but we stuck to the cat, anyway we were assigned 7000which is right in the front of the boat! The only cruise we were in the front I felt it day and night for some reason so now Im really afraid that being in the front and in the Pacific is going to be a double whammy! Have the bands and they help, hoping ill just be having too much fun to care or notice but worries me LOL

Some friends just came back from a cruise to New Zealand and back out of San Diego and said they could not believe how calm the Pacific was compared to other cruises they have taken. They loved sea days. We are at the opposite ends of deck 7..balcony is great there..bigger.

Has someone have on the boards have one of the suites Walt or Roy?

Just a thoguth for a sea day

Good Question-----no, no final decisions have been made.....although I've organized lanyards a few times for cruises and I've always done it pretty similarly...so I imagine I'll do it that way this trip, too. I always bring the name badges in a box rubberbanded together by traveling party and in alphabetical order by DIS name. I then also bring a printout of the list sorted in sequential order by stateroom #.

The basics of how I've passed out lanyards in the past is:

1.) I've usually arrived at the port early and set up shop to distribute them while we wait to board. With the new system, though, I don't know that this will work that well. We're traveling with gold cruisers who got an 11am check-in time....but we're platinum, so I think that means we can board as soon as they open the ship----so there may be a short window of time that we can pass them out in the port, but not sure.

3.) We'll set up shot during the sail-away party, as well...up on Deck 10 overlooking the Goofy pool and it will be either me or Jason (if I decide I want to dance with the cruise staff!;)) passing them out up there.

4.) We usually carry all the lanyards that haven't been picked up around in a backpack on embarkation day.....so folks are always welcome if they see us out and about on the ship (we look very much like we do in our signature pics...and we'll have OUR lanyards on, obviously)---or even come by our room----and just say "Hey! Do you have our lanyards?!?!":rotfl2:

5.) And then everyone who has not picked them up by the end of second seating on embarkation day will get them delivered to their room late that night. Before we go to bed, Jason and I walk the halls checking out fish extenders and hanging remaining lanyards on people's fish...or putting them into their fish extenders. (NOTE: This is why it is absolutely critical that people make sure that there is at least ONE accurate stateroom # for every traveling party...because the room on my list is where the lanyards will get left.

Our goal is usually to try to be rid of all the lanyards before we go to bed that first night....so that we can start really enjoying the cruise!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am sure I'll post more specific instructions (as if you needed more specifics than the above! :lmao::lmao:) as it gets closer.

Sounds like you have it covered. :thumbsup2 Also sounds like you have done this once or twice before.;) If you do get to the terminal early I am sure you can find people wearing our shirts. :woohoo:
