It is really easy and very fun! I don't scrapbook much, plus there's tons of
people to help. And Linda is a great teacher and does tons of the hard work for us....please join us!!!

I see that there's a tab for Palo brunch on the main worksheet. Is it too late to sign up? Thanks tons! Liz C

Hello All:

Well, after some discussion over on FB, it looks like folks would like to go ahead and try to coordinate an alternative luau to the Old Lahaina Luau (OLL) in Maui at the Feast at Lele.

I have gone ahead and added a sign-up sheet for it on the Google Doc that we have going for all the other stuff if you would like to join a bunch of other crazy DISers in hulaing and dining the evening away!! :grouphug:

Here are the details I have so far...

The Feast at Lele (http://feastatlele.com/) has incredible food (I'll post the menu here in a follow-on post). There are stunning ocean views from every table and each party has its own private reserved table. They only accomodate 180-200 folks per night so it is much more intimate than the OLL or some of the other popular luaus on the island.

They are located at 505 Front St in Lahaina - about the same 45 minute drive from the port in Kahului and they have availability for Saturday, the 5th. They also can provide wheelchair accessibility.

We can get a group discount of $103.50/adult and $85/child plus tax and gratuity. I am working on getting them to agree to reduce/waive the charge for kids 5 and under...more on that as I lock things in.

I also have round-trip transportation quotes from the port for those that need it that will depend on how many participate ($30/person if only 25 (mini-coach) or $15/person if we can get 55 (motor-coach) who need transportation).

Here is the evening agenda...

Fresh Flower Lei & Mai Tai greeting
Open bar included throughout the evening
A sit-down, five-course dinner, featuring cuisine of Hawaii, Aotearoa – New Zealand, Tahiti, Samoa, and Dessert.

Each course is accompanied by dramatic Polynesian entertainment from each island including a fire dancer.
Example, the Hawaiian course is accompanied by Hawaiian dances; New Zealand course is accompanied by New Zealand dances, etc…

We would depart the port at 5:15pm to arrive at the luau at 6pm with a return to the ship by 10pm.

If you have specific questions or special needs, feel free to PM me. If you're interested at all, please sign up on the google doc linked on the 1st page so we can see how many we have.

Thanks!
Stephanie

We have an 11 sideways cabin if anyone gets this organized.

Okay, I'm happy to organize the tour and coordinate with all those willing to participate since I just think this would be SO much fun...

BUT, I'll need your help - who wants to offer their cabin for viewing?

I am probably going to live to regret this, but here goes anyway. Has anybody offered to do a group navigator? If we do not already have this covered, I would like to volunteer to take this project on. With everything that I am either running outright or am in some way involved in, I need a document of some kind to keep me organised. It would only take a little more time and effort to do something for the group. If I end up doing this, I would create the document in PDF format and people could either print this or save it to their iPads, iPhones, iPod Touches, Kindles, etc. which is what I intend to do. I already have a bunch of email addresses for Secret Mickey and the Scavenger Hunt and would automatically send this to everybody who I have an email address for. Anybody else who wants a copy can just PM me their email address. What do you guys think?

Corinna

That would be great!

Corinna, you are a gem for volunteering. If you need help, PM me as we did the Daily Navigator on the last WBTA in 2011. DH is very good at making this print out.

Once we get a cabin, if not already taken, I will volunteer. Steph, I will let you know once one is assigned

Val and I were chatting about me organizing a San Francisco Bay area DIS meet prior to the cruise. I was thinking mid to late March when the shirts are ready.

Anyone interested, please Pm me.I will also post on FB.

I am offering our cabin. It is a 6A, but unique in that it is an accessible cabin with a bigger balcony than average, So you can list it as a 6A or if you want to have a normal 6A for viewing you could add accessible cabin to the category list. We are in cabin 7638

Hi All!

I go away for 5 days and there are like a dozen pages to catch up on...wow!:surfweb:

We're 99 days away!! :cool1:

We just did our 3 day on the Dream. The Costa incident happened while we were onboard so it was a popular topic of conversation. We had a great cruise though - 3 days is just not enough. We were with Mike's parents and some friends - we had a great time!!:yay:

We booked our 4th cruise for the year on the Fantasy in December so we can say we were on all 4 in 1 year. :thumbsup2

If you still need a 'regular' 11B for the tour, we'll volunteer...6143.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the 3pm Dismeet in the lounge. :grouphug:

SanDiegoSteph!

THAT IS AWEEEEESOME. We are sooooo in! Shari and I had a loooong discussion about the price of the Disney one and was very sad that it was so expensive. Just couldn't afford to spend that much money. But, this one you are looking at is great!

Please please please put me on the list. Let me know what you need. I didn't see a link for your list.

Also, I got your PM and want to ask you more about dinner! We would love to hang out and have our kids play! 5 min's with our kids and your son will not want to hang parents anymore!

Sorry I can't PM yet.

Roy

Are you kidding?!?! Is the Hotel Del Coronado nice?!?! :confused3

Ummm...just in case you are NOT kidding - YES - it is amazing! You will absolutely love it!!

It is the largest wooden structure in the country (I think that is the claim to fame), but more importantly it was the backdrop for movies like "Some Like it Hot." It sits right on its own private beach and has loads of charm and good food and great grounds and pool. It is pricey though, I warn you...

It happens to sit on Coronado Island, an exclusive little stretch of land connected to downtown San Diego by a big blue bridge. The whole Coronado area is one great shopping area and totally quaint and walkable, but again PRICEY!

If you are going to LegoLand, then you should shop at the Carlsbad Shopping Outlet right on the way up (or back). Or, you can shop in downtown San Diego at Horton Plaza (for the mall experience) or at Seaport Village (for the tourist experience).

Let me know the kind of things you want to buy and I can point you in the right direction.

Steph

Wow Steph, No I really didn't know. We are travelling with friends, I have been so preoccupied with the cruise that I had totally neglected anything else. My friend and I jumped online on the weekend, did some 'googling' at accommodation and thought it looked Ok, so we booked it. :cool1:
And yes, paid in full, and yes it was slightly painful :rolleyes1
The shopping sounds great. Sounds like there is lots to choose from. I know my way around LA and will do most of my shopping there after the cruise. But just wanted to make sure I had options in case hubby has the kids at the pool and my girlfriend and I can escape for a few hours. :thumbsup2

Hayley, your kids will love Legoland. Seaworld in San Diego is a bit smaller with not as many rides but we love it just as much.

My youngest DD Samantha is living there while going to law school. Our favorite mall is Fashion Valley which has every store you could possible want to browse.

Samantha works at the Cheescake Factory there in the mall part time so if you let me know when you might go, I could ask her if she is working. Also, if you want to PM me, I could ask her specific questions. If you need to speak with her directly, PM me and I will send you her email address.

The Del is the BEST hotel in my opinion in San Diego and have stayed many times though I preferred it before it was modernized!!

Noel

Hi Noel :) So glad you could make this cruise.
Fashion Valley does look perfect for me. I love South Coast Plaza and The Grove in LA, Fashion Valley looks like it has similar shops. :cool1:
Oooh, Hubby will be happy there is a Cheesecake Factory nearby, he loves it there. Just got to make sure there is a PF Changs, kids favourite!

I'm glad we chose the right hotel, so hard to know when your booking over the internet and have never been there. Looking forward to it now. :goodvibes

I understand that the Grand Floridian in WDW was modeled after the Hotel Del Coronado!! I haven't been in years, but it was lovely. :hippie:

Funny, I thought that to myself when looking at the pics, and to be honest it's what made me book, I love the Grand Floridian, but have never stayed there..... yet ;)

Well...let's just make that official, why don't we?

3PM DISMEET PROMENADE LOUNGE EMBARKATION DAY!

Tables/comfy chairs/bartender.....need I say more?

.

PERFECT :thumbsup2

Wonderful Corinna, Thanks a bunch :flower3:

Mine will be 4 years old in August and is a MacBook. I actually ended up buying this at the airport when we were flying to Florida for our very first cruise. My old laptop had given up the ghost the previous Christmas and I was mulling over if I should get a new PC laptop or pay a bit more and go with the MacBook. At the airport they offered a deal that I could not pass up. It was a higher spec computer than the one I had looked at in the local Apple store, but it was a little cheaper. So that was a no brainer. I would not go back to a PC now if they paid me for it. It is bad enough that I have to put up with one at work.

Corinna

LOVE MY MAC AND WILL NEVER GO BACK TO A PC, and yes I was yelling, A Mac is that much better!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I just sent you a PM with my info :)

I tried to find the FB page, but i couldn't find it when I typed it in the search bar. I'll try again though :confused3

It is a private group so you cannot find it on a search, someone has to invite you in and maybe only the founders. Send a DIS PM to "Brooklyn" and ask.

This is kind of off-topic, but on the off chance that DCL does another Panama Canal cruise, can anyone tell me what the ports were?

Several other WBPC 2008 on this thread but in case they did not answer yet--
Castaway Cay--Aruba--through canal but no debarkation--Aruba--Puerta Vallarta--Cabo San Lucas.

However, the Current safety concerns for tourists in Mexico that has people not booking and itineraries being changed might lead to changes for the next transits. Sorry if this has been said already.

Corinna-

You had asked me which bracelet my best friend and I wanted to do. Finally double checked with her.

I want to do the Princess one and she(djpate) wants to do the beach on.

Thank you for doing this and all the other things you are taking on. We really appreciate it.

We were unable to dock at Castaway Cay (apparently due to winds and currents) so did an unscheduled overnight at Aruba.

Manzanillo was also a port.

Corrina- don't know if I told you I wanted to do the beach bracelet. There is just so many things going on I forget what I have done. I wish people would use the Disboards for planning and not Facebook - it makes it very confusing. I also could not get to the link for the scavanger hunt - if that your too. I was not able to get on the link

We also went to Acupalco, Jan. But DCL stopped going there early on. I think the PC might have been the only stop. It "felt" unsafe to me even on a tour bus. Automatic weapon armed guards in the doorways of some of the stores not just at the port like Cabo and Puerta Vallarta. :scared1:
