There is so many around LAX :) Need to sit down and see who has good rates.....

If you really don't care where you stay you might try Priceline, name your own price. We have gotten 3.5 star hotels at very reasonable rates at LAX and other airport locations when we are just staying one night. We will probably do this for the pre cruise night this trip. We have stayed at the Crowne Plaza LAX for under $80 for the night.

Greetings all. Just got off the Magic. Had a great time. We are just sitting here on the bus waiting to go back to AKV.

Finally getting a chance to say "Hi!" and that we will be joining you on this trip. I've been booked since May, but having a hard time keeping up with you all! Finally finished reading all of Part 2&3...will have to go back and try to catch up on Part 1.

We honeymooned in Hawaii in 1998 (Maui & Hawaii) and loved it! Looking forward to seeing Kauai & Oahu! I really hope we can see both the Arizona and Aulani on Oahu. Wondering if DCL will offer excursions that allow time for both.

I recognize a lot of names from the 2011 Panama Canal cruise. DS and DD will be 7yo on this trip. The kids clubs were pretty empty on the PC cruise. If anyone has children who would like to connect beforehand, PM me. It might make my kids more excited about the kids clubs, because I think the "empty" factor on the last cruise made it a little "lackluster" for them.

DG (grandpa) is joining us, and we are currently booked in 2 Cat 5B's GTY. We were originally booked in a 5C GTY & 7A GTY, but I was hoping to get us closer, and was finally able to snag 2 rooms in the same category within the past 2 weeks with all the openings.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and learning/sharing some great information!

Welcome on board. I still have the jewellery kits for your kids from the Panama Canal Cruise. I had every intention to make up to the pieces and mail them, but I will now make sure that I will bring them to the Hawaii cruise and they can make them themselves.

hello all!
I am booked on this cruise and just found this thread. I havent had time to read all the way through yet but I am sure, as always, there will be alot of useful info and things that I have not even thought of yet. Since I have been to 3 of the 4 Islands ports for this cruise we will be wanting to rent a car to see some favorite and new things. I will be looking for info on rental cars in the ports unless there is already info somewhere on all these pages lol

I (42 years young)will be traveling with my mom (62 years young) and we are looking forward to this trip. No children this cruise for us.

Our most recent Disney cruise was on the Magic in the Med this year and this Hawaii cruise will be my 8th.

Cant wait to see everyone and Aloha!!!:goodvibes

Welcome on board.

Much as I hate to do this, we have moved our booking to the October sailing. The April date conflicts with some of Trevors graduation activities, and we don't want him to miss any part of this milestone event. I removed our info from the spreadsheets, however , I did volunteer to organize the early dining group, so if someone else would like to volunteer.....

We'll miss not sailing with the many friends we made on the WBTA last year, but look forward to reading your trip reports.

Janice & Trevor

I am sorry that we won't be meeting again.

Greetings All. I have been lurking and now it is time for true confessions. WE BOOKED!

actually, I booked back in March but have been busy with a Dream Wedding Cruise, not mine!!!! And am nervous about booking with DVC points this far out. It is a big committment as we are on the East Coast...and it will entail juggling vacation schedules but enough negativity.....

Cruising will be me and DH on our 10th cruise. And our course "Hedgie", our hedgehog mascot....we were on the 2008 Panama Westbound, the first Double Scoop in 2006 and the Dream Maiden. so, I recognize some of you already. some of you are battling illness...here is to a fast recovery.

I've got lots of catching up to do but thanks to all of you, it's all on page one. the shirts are such a super idea, we will be signing up. so much work has gone into every detail. and I have never done champagne girls, but sounds like fun. Door sings, yup a must there as well.

As for the islands, are there any divers out there? we have been blessed to have visited Hawaii three times in the past, for six islands..including one memorable three night hiking stay inside the volcano....so I cannot decide whether to dive, take an excursion or rent a car.....lots to think about. and all those sea days.....wow.

This is also our first cruise GTY, another new experience.

OK enough babble....

Welcome on board.

Just saw a post from someone who got off the Magic, that the Platinum shopping perk is now 10% off most items and no longer the $25 OBC for $100 perchases.

Anybody else hear anything about that?

.

This was the case on the Wonder when we sailed October 2nd to 9th.

I was able to get a studio at VGC this morning for 4 days post cruise. :yay::woohoo:

Oh, boy, oh, boy, we are booked at VGC too!!! (Only 3 days though, but that's OK.) :yay::yay::yay::dance3::cool1::cool1::woohoo::woohoo:

We also managed to snag a Studio at VGC for four nights post-cruise. We spent a total of 10 nights their this vacation and loved it. We have not made up our minds yet when we fly in and when we leave. We have friends near Disneyland and they are in the process of purchasing their first house and are really pushing for us to stay with them. So we either fly in on the Saturday and will either stay at a hotel near the airport or the port for the night and then stay for a week after we get back with the last three days being spent wit our friends or we fly in the Thursday before the cruise, spend the days before with our friends and then fly home on May 18th.

Well, I officially got the OK to take off work for this cruise!:worship:

Guess I can start making some plans now, eh?

MONICA....expect a phone call this weekend! (Should I call before or after talking with Cheri on Sunday????)

.

I am so glad that you got your vacation time approved.

Since I live on west coast and daughter can't fly we never got involved in the vacation club because when it started years ago there was nothing at DL. So when and where did Disney VC villas appear in California?

The DVC villas are at the Grand Californian and if I remember correctly they opened in fall 2009.

I am sorry to read that so many of you are having health issues at the moment. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I arrived back from our big vacation yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. It could not have been any more perfect. I will start on a trip report as soon as I got my Photopass CD.

So glad to hear everything went well and can't wait to learn the details. Welcome back!

Welcome back :)

Thank you. I saw that someone asked about the shopping perk onboard. Yes it was 10% off almost everything except on Castsway and the rum cake we got on the ship. I liked that perk because it brought down the amount we had to claim this morning. I am also so happy to see that DCL already has me listed as a Platiunm Csataway.

HI I am Happy Goofy's Daughter and she asked me to post for her. She is still in the hospital. Her minor surgury turned into major surgury. He recovery is going very slowly. But she is looking forward to her Hawii cruise with you.
:cheer2:

Pixie dust for a fast recovery!

Welcome back, Alan. I hope the rest of your vacation goes as well. It is cool to see the Castaway status change. We just turned gold so we have a way to go til we reach platinum, but we'll keep trying. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it, right?

Everyone going to VGC after the cruise have you made transportation arrangements yet?

Sounds like there is at least 20 of us or maybe more? 3 of us here.

I have made any arrangements yet, but was considering adding DCL transfers. I suppose much depends on what we end up doing before the cruise.

I have booked our tours for Kauai and Hilo. Now to get a rental car for Maui. Undecided about Honolulu. I know what I want to do but not sure if we will do it with DCL or on our own.

Do you mind sharing what tours/companies you booked. I am just starting to make some plane for shore excursions on our own.

We used DCL transfers back in January after the PC cruise and it worked so well we would do that again. Can't remember the cost but it can't have been too bad or John wouldn't have agreed!!;)

We used the DCL transfers from DLH to the port in April for the Repo cruise to Vancouver and it was $30 per person. I'm not sure if round trip is cheaper than the one-way transfer we did.

Do you remember about what time DCL picked you up? We're at VGC the night before this cruise and though DCL would make things very easy, we may need to take a private service if the port arrival is later than what we'd like. I'm making an assumption, of course, that the pickup time for this Hawaii cruise would be comparable to what yours was in April.

Thanks so much!
