Really, an annual pass will get you a discount? When did they start that on the ship? I have been told in the past that they do not accept AP discounts. I have a premium AP so that would be great.

They have never honoured our annual pass on the ship?

I stopped carrying it.

Heck, worth stuffing it into the wallet and trying.

Thanks for the reminder.

ok - my bad here. The AP discount is applicable to the RSP, and pre-ordered merchandise ONLY. The discount is NOT honored on the ship, neither is the DVC discount. I did not explain that clearly in my post - sorry for the confusion. So, if one is pre-ordering the T-Shirts from shoreside, then the AP discount is well worth utilizing (esp the premium!). I figured if the shirt is 40.00 (or thereabouts) the 8.00 saved is better than having to spend 100 to get 25 off of that. I also uploaded a copy when I placed my RSP, again 20% is better than 0%:laughing:

Well DW and I took one of the new designs and ordered a couple of t-shirts....hopefully the come out nice and if so we will attempt to order some more designs....we also ordered 10 magnets. Hopefully they are good and we will bring them on the ship and share since we only need 1 for our refrigerator......Will see when we get them.....they say possibly 14 days so we will let ya know....almost down to 10 weeks to go. By the way....we are arriving on Saturday night and staying at the Marriott by the airport.....anyone else staying there?

Well a fellow Bellmore-ite, Igrew up at 422 Lakeview Rd. and was the first class to attend all three years at JFK 1969 grad. I checked on Google maps and the house is still the same....

Regarding merch discount for Platinum guests. What is the percent discount in the shops. Is it 10% on all purchases or is it a certain amount credit after spending $100.

Maluhia....(I thought I'd dig out my Hawaiian book of names and start using my translated name...
DH is "Ua Lohe Ke Akua"
Now that is long....Wanna bet he does not use it?
May I ask what book you are using? I have just purchased the iPhone Hawaiian translation app for iPhone and see they have an app for Hawaiian names too. Was wondering if I should just get the names app or get books too.

Apologies for my ignorance but what is "RSP"?

Also interested in how the discount for Platinum quests works! Does anyone when DCL started giving discounts to Platinum guests and do you have a card to show or do they just have your status in the system? This will be our 13th cruise and the last time we were on a ship in 2009 we were not aware of any Platinum discounts at the time.

When we were on the Wonder in October they had changed the discount from the 25% after $100 to 10% of any purchase. Not sure if they have changed it again.

Becky e-mailed me today to say I should receive the last of the material today, only 6 sections. All of them are promised and paid for. Due to the way the fabric was printed, I didn't cut it by the yard, but by the repeat or section. Because each section was 39 inches, instead of 1 yard, I had to order and pay for more fabric. She also advised the shirts should arrive by 3-15. I anticipate getting them to you by 4-1.

I ordered a few extra shirts, don't have 2XL nor 3XL left, but I do have at least one small, medium, large and XL. Let me know if you are interested.

Hi Heather! Sounds great! Thanks for organizing this! :flower3: I am not crazy enough to think we should organize this around our planning so far, but 24 really works best for us...I'm sure we can improvise one more if we do 25...just thought I'd pitch the idea of 24. :rolleyes1 ......

Of course, factor in that you are one of the 25, so in essence it's 24? :hippie:

....."It has been confirmed the same type of Hawaii Logo Merchandise will be available on the ship to purchase with your Platinum discount. With that being said, availability can go quickly since most Guests will be interested in purchasing these special items. If you want to be assured of getting the exact item you want, it may be best to pre-order so it will be waiting for you in the stateroom when you arrive. However, the discount will not be available on pre-order items.":confused3

LOL no surprises there!! Thx for the info. :thumbsup2

annual pass discounts do apply! that amounts to more than the platinum discount in many cases.

That's great news!! :thumbsup2
I didn't know we could use that with pre-orders!! There isn't a spot for it on the form, so if you call it in, do they get info then?? TIA!

Related question on the Luau --- the ship leaves at 10:30 and the luau is over at 10:30......what is the time to turn in the rental car and get back to the ship????? I too am wondering about keeping or turning in the rental????

That sounded like it might be stressful and/or I'd be watching the clock, so we decided to ditch the rental car before the luau....cutting it close earlier sounded easier than cutting it close later! :rotfl:

Yep, still 10% per purchase, and be sure to have the CM deduct it in the store when they ring it up, or you will need to go back & have them refund/recharge the whole purchase, according to GS (who used to just take $25 off of your acct. after each $100) Platinum will be written on your KTTW card, so they should see it & apply the 10%, but we did have to go back & redo one when the CM missed it...and I forgot to notice too!!

Val, sorry to hear you had to be out of pocket for more fabric because of the layout!! Would it work to offset that (AND postage rates going up) if we all just sent an additional 10% (or other amt)?? Seems like that would be the easiest way to handle some of those extras. Or, alternately, we can all buy you a drink on board!! :woohoo:

A few catch-ups...

This is the Hawaiian book of names that I have.
41GNNMPKRZL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

I like it because it translates the actual meaning of the name to the closest meaning in Hawaiian. It is not a letter for letter translation.
We brought this back from one of our trips and I do enjoy it.

As for rental cars and the Luau...I think I will rush to make the bus rather than rushing to turn the car back in and waving to you on shore...

Wait, being stranded on Mauii, is that a bad thing?

Discounts on merchandise...thanks for the clarification that it is for pre-ordered items. Hum, must think about ordering now.....

Fabric - I would be willing to ante up some extra for the fabric as if Val had not cut the fabric at the pattern repeat I think we all would be having issues making it match.

Lanyards - THANK YOU AGAIN for organizing this.....

Platinum Guest discount, this is our first trip as Plantinum -- so thanks for the tip....

OK Lunchtime over...

Have a great Friday.

Thanks but no need (would love to JOIN you for a drink on board though). I found a few ways to cut costs,i.e. 15% discount from USPS when I printed my own labels, ordered free USPS Priority Mail tape instead of buying packing tape AND by buying 10 more shirts I got us to the 150 count. That reduced the cost of the individual shirts by a few dollars each, paid for the 10 shirts plus a few dollars over. I won't know the final costs until I get the invoices, with the shipping charges, but I am thinking I will be able to refund a few dollars to each of you.

When I was on the Dream in Nov, the 10% was not being applied - only the 25.00 of each purchase of 100.00. If a single purchase was over 100 you 25.00 off. This kinda sucked because I purchased a bracelet on a different cruise that was 225 and only got 25.00 off - the vendor (not from the cruiseline) would not split the charges up for me so I could get 50.00 :(

Apologies for my ignorance but what is "RSP"?
RSP = random selection process. There was an email sent (I didn't get it - had to beg for someone to forward it to me) that you MAY still have time to enter PM me your email addy - I will send it along. This is the process for the limited edition merchandise. You look at the catalog (a pdf file you download) and pick what you want in what order then fill in the request #1, if you want more of an item on request #1 you put it on request #2, even more? put it on request #3. Once the RSP is closed they put it all in a computer that spits out who gets what. If you put something on request 2 & 3 you may get it on those requests but not on request 1 - not sure why it works that way but it does. They charge your credit card 1.00 at the time of the RSP submission, then the full amount once the merchandise selection is done. You receive it onboard and have to carry it all off, so if you "win" something large - be ready for the shipping charges or the luggage overage!!

The RSP closed on Feb 14...sorry.

Ummm - I think 2 years ago - I got a letter in my cabin describing it - they are still tweeking it, the 10% seems to come and go - I didn't get it on the first of my B2B2B cruises, did on the second and not on the third...bizarre - but that is the Disney way, right??

yep you can! Yes you fax it in. The website clearly said it, so the cast member who emailed someone else may have been in error. I would and will fight for it!

here are some larger pictures of the merchandise I was sent a link to...no images of the womens shirts though :(

It seems where on the 10am Pearl Harbor tour with a number of you. We're considering booking a studio at Aulani on points for the rest of the day, but haven't decided for sure. I figure a nice beach/pool afternoon might be nice after 2 days of playing the mad tourist on the big island and Maui.

When you pre order the cruise specific merchandise, do you pay for it up front, or do they charge it to your stateroom account? :confused3

Dolphin Girl, May I borrow your Stitch to Hawaii picture for my door? thanks fran :goodvibes

Absolutely.

I assume that this like anything else that you order from the Amenities page and you pay it when placing your order.

Just got this from DVC - for those of you DVC members that want to see Aulani but are not using points or doing the excursion.

We received an email from DVC yesterday. They are doing a tour to Aulani for DVC members only (& their travelling parties). It is complimentary. They will provide transportation to & from Aulani and give a 90 minute guided tour around the resort. Tour departures are every 1/2 hour from early morning to mid afternoon (with a break of about 3 hours in the middle with no tours).

I'm about to go back through my emails, I'm sure I haven't received anything about this tour and we have been DVC since 2003...? Very strange.

Not sure if we will be interested anyway as we have a fairly full day planned and fully intend to stay at Aulani at some point, after all, its the closest "Disney" resort to us anyway.

OK, it's after 5pm EST which means the cutoff for pre-ordering lanyards (and having them guaranteed) is past. The list currently contains 323 people. So I placed the order for 375 lanyards total (which is more than I have ever ordered for a cruise I've done this for----Jason's gonna be very sore since they all go in his carry-on! :lmao:). That will give me 50 extra lanyards for any latecomers or last minute bookers----and if nobody claims them then it will give me 2 or 3 extras per lanyard team member which is always a nice gift they can give their servers or favorite CMs. I know some lanyard organizers order tons of extras....but I really don't want to be responsible for carrying them all and I don't want any to go to waste, really (especially because the lanyards we're getting are more special than any I've ever done before...and, therefore, more expensive!

Also note: 4 of the names on my list still are KrisannB's family because she has not responded to any of my emails to confirm she has cancelled this cruise and hasn't told me to remove their names...so I'm not sure what to do...can someone who communicates with her on facebook please ask her to confirm with me that they are 100% off this trip because I don't want to remove them and then they show up and are mad they don't have lanyards for some reason.

The bus transfer they have set up is returning at 9pm I think. I have to figure out how long it will take to get from the Luau to the rental location, then add in some time to get back to the ship. I try to get back about 30 minutes before all aboard, so that means 10pm, if the rental place takes about 15 minutes, then I just need the time from the Luau to the rental place - most likely around the same time of 9 to 915pm.

If your luau is in Lahaina or Kaanapalli, then allow 45 minutes to get back to the airport in Kahalui. From the airport to the ship 5 minutes, 10 max with traffic.

Again not trying to be agumentive but I am really hard to believe this since Cast Members don't get their discount, why would a AP? I am
Sorry this makes no sence to me.

I am interested in the XL as I previously stated if its still available.

If you are referring to the cruise shirts, I do have an extra XL. Send me a PM or better yet, an e-mail and I'll give you the funding info and get your mailing info.
