We have NOT gotten our cruise docs yet, but I know that we will NOT be getting them in the mail or via UPS, we will be getting ours hand delivered from Make-A-Wish. It will truly be a great time, as our DS got his chemo port removed today, and he will be well healed by cruise time so he can swim/snorkel, do whatever he wishes. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

The packing and shopping continues again tonight. . . . YAHOOO!!!::banana:

What wonderful news! Truly something to celebrate! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

Walk off that extra dessert on deck 4. If you are a walker or jogger you'll be happy to know you can do so on deck 4. This promenade deck goes all the way around. There is even a sign to show you distances. I think it is 3-4 laps equal a mile. The cool thing is that when you go around the front of the ship you are in an area where they keep the anchors and the HUGE links that hold them.

Rather do your walking on a treadmill? Then head up to the spa. The gym portion is free and open to all adults. Added bonus here. While you are on the treadmill you can look out at the water and see the same view the Captain does.

For those who want to be on top of the world there is also deck 10. The only downside up here is the wind and also that you have to go around a lot of obstacles.

No matter which option you choose there are great things to see if you are a walker.

Hi Everyone! I've been "lurking" for a little bit but the excitement is building too much now to stay in the shadows :) My DS (will be turning 11 right before we leave) and I will be on the cruise! Last year was our first DCL (3 nights) and of course....love at first sight and here we are going again in 3 weeks!!!!! Any other single people with a child(ren) in the group? Love the tips of the day ::yes::
Debi & Jae

Welcome to all the new cruisers!:jumping1:
I am so excited our little group is getting bigger and bigger. I think that we bought everything we needed for the cruise. Thank you everyone for all of the great tips.:thanks: This weekend we have the last few things to get done. Haircuts for the boys and pedicures for the girls. Since we are driving we also need an oil change for the car. Then we are ready to go. I can't believe that tomorrow we can say "we go on vacation next week" It is so close yet so far away...we started our countdown at 395 days and now were so close!!!:cool1: :cool1:

Debi - :welcome:to the group! The more the merrier!

I'm Mary and will be sailing with my DH Mark (aka MarkRG). No kids in our family but our friends from Ohio (aka Karen Ohiominnie) have an almost 14 year old daughter and an 11 year old son.

We sail in 3 weeks!

I wanted to avoid coming to the DIS today because I knew I would read this.

I'm not ready.

Today we go clothes shopping for KT though, so if we can find some things, that will at least put me just a titch closer.

Zerog....we are from New Hampshire....Debi 54, Jae 11!! THANK YOU all for the warm welcomes!!! I have to admit, we're just starting to get ready...yikes! I'm curious what kind of onboard activities you experienced cruisers find are "must do's" for the days at sea? Have a happy day...I actually think the sun MIGHT come out today up here in NH :cloud9:

There are about 84 people.

It's hard to believe that we're all going to be on the same ship for 7 days together. :grouphug:

Debi, we don't really have any set plans for the ship (except for my DW's hot rock spa treatment and a Palo dinner). I am planning to sign up for the 7 day rain forest. We'll just look at the navigator and plan accordingly. People say to bring a highlighter or two, so you can color those activities that look appealing. Ice sculpting, towel folding - those seem interesting to me. Of course, a lot depends on the kids and how much time they spend in the lab. Perhaps the seasoned cruisers can suggest an activity that they really liked on one of their past cruises. Debi, I'm glad that you joined us.

GOOD MORNING FELLOW CRUISERS!!!:surfweb:
YES, I've been a lurker as well, but decided to finally say HELLO since I'm feeling a bit more relaxed now that 95% of our shopping and getting ready for the cruise is done! I forgot how much work this is!!!
This will be our 2nd cruise on the Disney Magic. Last year, May 2007 we were also on the Disney Magic but did the Western Caribbean. It was AMAZING!!! We were hooked as soon as we got our "sea legs"!
We were a bigger group then (9), celebrating my in-laws 40th wedding anniversary! While on the cruise DH decided that we needed to do this again. So, he booked us on this cruise to celebrate our 40th birthdays!! DH will be turning the BIG 4-0 on April 16th and I will be turning the BIG 4-0 on August 22nd!!! Instead of making a party, we decided to take the kids on another Disney Cruise!!! Sounded like a GREAT idea to me!!!

Just wanted to say that Mary is doing a great job with the "tips of the day"! Thanks Mary!
Bye for now from Montreal, Canada!
By the way....no docs yet! Should be any day now!:rolleyes1

stevenmtl+ I am happy you came from the shadows my DH and I will be the big 4-0 this year (Nov and Dec) and two of our kids are the same age as yours or close, DD 10 (will be 11 in August) and DS 9 (will be 10 in Nov) maybe they can hang out together.

Can wait. . . we are counting down only til Friday, since the next day we leave at 6:45 am. And can't really do much that day except CELEBRATE.

:cheer2: :cheer2:   :woohoo: :woohoo:

Thanks Patty! You must be getting REALLY excited! Only 1 more week to go!
Our DD will be 11 in May and DS will be 9 in November. They'll most probably be in Oceaneer Lab together! :woohoo:

We cannot believe we will all be boarding in three weeks time. Welcome debi0728. Very nice to see the lurkers posting some have more catching up to do than others. it is a chilly sunny day here.

StevenMTL - welcome from the Shadows of the Lurkers. :wave2: I believe the Tinkerone family is also from Canada.

I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. I browsed to the Cruise Critic Website and found 3 families on their roll call. I think they had a total of 6 posts between them, so I invited them to join our Crazy Cruiser forum. I hope they get the message in time.

And finally, I drove the kids to the port today to see the one Disney Magic! There was Goofy on the back of the ship and I could see passengers walking about on deck. It was easy to imagine that this will be us in 21 days. The excitement is too great to describe in words. I was thinking that the sail-away party for these folks was just a few hours away. The bad news is, it is supposed to rain real soon.

One thing I did notice was that the usual parking lot next to the terminal was completely empty. I'll try to find out why. It looked like people were parking across the street. I don't know if they were allowing people to drop off their families and luggage up front and then park their car. Stay tuned.

Thanks to Randy (zerog) for posting about this thread on another board.

I was beginning to think that we were the only ones on this ship...

We're really excited about our first Disney Cruise- were DVC members and are flying in on Friday and staying one night at AKL to check out "our new property"

My partner Chuck is a vegetarian so any tips on finding great vegetarian food onboard, in port or at CC would be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad Randy pointed the way to this board!:cool1:

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:

Wow - every time I log on we're joined by new cruisers. Awesome!

Actually having so many people join has got me thinking that we do need a way to identify ourselves. So I came up with a little something. I'll print these out on business card stock that will easily fit into your KTTW (Key to the World) holder. The blank space in the middle will be for you to put your name in (real, screen, any combination of). What do you all think? I'll have them and some pens available at the 3pm DIS meet on Saturday.

Welcome and thanks for the compliment on the tips. I really enjoy helping people get excited about cruising DCL!

We plan to do Palo Brunch, Palo High Tea and also a Couples Massage. One thing I highly recommend is the galley tour. It is usually help on a sea day in the afternoon. It is amazing to see how big, organized and clean the galley is as you are touring it between lunch and dinner. There is no cost at all and it usually includes a fresh baked cookie. Watch your navigator for details.

Welcome! You will find that there are vegetarian selections available every night. Let your servers know the first night and they will be able to make excellent selections and might even offer to have some special things made.

welcome to all the newcomers!! So excited you all are joining us!! 3 more weeks!! We are flying out on the 25th, which is my 34th birthday!! :dance3:

I have started to pack up the suitcases, I just have them sitting out and adding things to them as I come across them. I want to make sure I won't forget anything! I am all set clothes wise, I think, just need a few odds and ends, like more disposable underwater cameras!

We are off to costco now, because I want to look at luggage, I don't think we have enough! :rotfl2:
