April 21, 2007 -- Western Magic -- anyone?

A few of us are going on the Capt Marvin's short excursion at 8:30am. There will be 2 other 3yr olds (mine and Val's) on the excursion too. Give Capt Marvin's a call and mention us (we're the Rodgers family), if you want to try to get on the same excursion as us.

We are also flying Southwest. Is all I need to bring to the airport my boarding pass that I print out the day before?

Also, does anyone know why the time the boat leaves Cozumel can change so much? When looking at some of the past navigators they sometimes don't leave until 1:00 am on Friday. We are scheduled to leave at 6:30 on Thursday (I think).

A huge welcome to the new folks posting! Glad to "know" you.

Jenni - don't worry. We've all had our share with young kids too. I know it's going to happen sometime on vacation, since there are all sorts of new experiences and things going on. If anyone sees Emily having a fit please, just feel sorry for me. :rotfl:

Cyndi, are you still well? I remember you talking about the coworker who was sick, and I hope you didn't get it!

We're going on Captain Marvin's at 10am. I don't know of any other DIS folks that will be joining us, so if you are, speak up! Just promise not to take photos of me screaming if the stingrays freak me out at first. :rotfl2:

I was just coming to say...

Countdown to cruising!!!
15 days to go!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I think I broke a new record for the longest amount of time spent at Wal-Mart last night. I think DH wondered if I was EVER coming home.

And speaking of tags...Amanda, would you care to explain yours?

:welcome: B&B Mom and cnj (Jenni)! I've seen B&B on the list of DISers from Molli, so I assume you've been here before (probably before I came along). I don't think we know much about your family, though, which is fine, too, but it's great to see you peek your head in and say hi! And, yes, Jenni, we've all been there before with the screaming kids. Mine have been banned from public since last weekend after throwing a fit in a store. I had to threaten "no Disney cruise" several times in order to get him to stop. Our biggest fear for this trip is that they will misbehave the whole time. (C'mon, boys, proove me wrong!) I do know Amy's football hold all too well, too. I think there's less chance of getting kicked in the sweet spot when you carry a flailing kid like that! :lmao:

Sarah, we'd love to have you join us on Captain Marvin's! I don't know how long you're wanting to be gone, but their website gives all the info for the different excursions that they offer. We've decided on the short one (one snorkeling stop and then the rays) because I doubt my DS5&3 will be able to snorkel, but DH and I really want to do the rays. There's a longer 1/2 day one with more snorkeling stops, though (I think Amanda is doing that one), and they even have an all day one, too. I'm not sure how many people they fit on each boat, but I'm sure Amy has an idea since she has done it before. So far with Amy's family, Tricia's (koby) 1/2 family, and us, there's 10. I'd hope they could fit you, too! :woohoo:

I get that way sometimes with Target! I do need to start getting things together for the cruise. I need to check our toiletry bag and our first aid kit too.

The boats are pretty big, so unless it's already full, it should be able to accomodate Sarah's family!!

Well last time I posted we were experiencing snow. Well 7 inches or more fell. See other NH posts, but the bad thing was we were one of 45,000 who lost power. Finally got it back while we were sleeping and shivering last night. Actually it wasn't that cold. Generator, I got to get me one. All I could hear was one of my neighbors generators running all day and it irked me. I was like why don't I have one. It is like the leaky roof syndrome. When it is raining and the roof is leaking you can not fix it. When the sun comes out and everything dries up, you neglect it.

Well I am going out this weekend to look for a generator. Hopefully I can get one on sale now. The worst part is our house is all wired for it already, so all I needed to do was buy the generator.

Well this snow has made me more excited for the cruise, if that is possible.

Welcome all new posters.

I need to catch up on the posts I missed.

And speaking of tags...Amanda, would you care to explain yours?

:lmao: Last year on the community board there was an extremely long thread called (if you're squeamish, quit reading NOW)......Poo Watch 2006. It all started when a poster said there had been a cleanup bag of dog stuff outside her neighbors door all day, people came in & out of the house and no one ever bothered to pick it up & discard it. She took photos, and even put up a short video clip of running over there, poking at the bag with sticks, and eventually her DH's wrench. So I got the tag from that. The funniest parts were people in disbelief that she was actually doing this, and posting it on the internet. Many, many tags were handed out from that thread.

I completely understand you about the generator. While we don't have snow storms, we have hurricanes and it wasn't until Hurricane Charley DIRECTLY threatened us did we actually go out and buy a generator. Then, as luck would have it, the hurricane turned and hit a different area. We didn't use our generator, but we did loan it to friends who needed it. So, at least we have it, if the need arises!!!

OMG! It's hard to believe how much we rely on electricity until we're without it. We had a similar situation around here at Christmas/New Year's with a couple different ice storms that knocked out power to almost the entire central/south-central Nebraska. We were lucky and only lost power for about three hours. There were lots of rural people without power for over three weeks! The weight of the ice just snapped over 6,000 power poles and transmission lines in half! Those huge metal structures were just crumpled! Very few people were lucky enough to buy generators at that time. The stores just couldn't keep up with the demand. The stores were actually encouraging people to return them after they got their power back so they could resell them to those still without power. Anyway, I'm glad your power is back. It's not a fun situation to be in! Sounds like you better go get yourself a generator!
Here's some photos. Check out the very last one on pg 5 of the second link for the trasmission lines.

We got $92 each way, so that was about $800 for the family on Southwest. I keep checking the Dings! to see if we can get a cheaper fare. We always take SW. The airport is not even ten minutes from our house. In fact, we have a skylight in our bathroom, and I can practically see the people when I'm sitting there doing my business:rolleyes1

IWe were flooded and our neighborhood had to be evacuated last Mother's Day. Our house was in disarray for weeks. I now think in all of that chaos some of our documents were inadvertently thrown out.:scared1: :

Holy Cow! I can't imagine....Good thing you checked now!
did someone mention shrimp??

look at that adorable couple, aren't they sooo in love

Pick me for the shrimp!
What a cute couple:hug:
Ya know, Molli, you and Preston are going to be Celebrities on the cruise! Better get out your sunglasses! I hope your eyeliner turned out beautiful :)
Well here it goes....I'm not much for posting, but do enjoy lurking. Looking forward to meeting everyone!
Hi guys! My name is Jenni, and it will be me, my DH (Casey), and my 2 children DD7 and DS3. We are so excited to be going on this cruise. I was a bit leery of posting here, because we really just want to spend this cruise with each other Jenni

Hi B&B Mom & Jenni :yay: Don't worry, we won't spoil your vacation:laughing: I just like getting together with everyone here beforehand and we'll see what may come once we're on board! It's always good to have "friends" when you're on vacation. We all know that family time or alone/relax time is priority, and I'll respect that. :flower3:
Cheryl
PS-Corryn: I think I got it..doing the quotes that is...thanks for the advice.
Nick is 14 and Spencer is 3 1/2

Your quotes look great, Cheryl....Hey everyone, Check out Cheryl's "Quoootes"!:rolleyes1
I'm guessing Nick will be in the teen club. My daughters are Tori 14 and Kyralyn 13. They've been posting on this thread just for the kids going on this cruise. If he's interested, I'll post the link again

I'm interested in Captain Marvin's stingray snorkeling tour -- Thanks!-- Sarah
I'm not sure what we're going on....How can I find out? I know it's the catamaran Stingray City Snorkel tour.....Anyone?

I just got home a little while ago - I got a perm :cool1: and now I'm going to get my eyebrows waxed.....Mike and Kathy are coming over later on. I'll get a good photo of them and post it, hopefully, later...
Have a good day everyone

Corryn, did you book it through DCL? If so, I'm not sure how to find out who they contract with--maybe it would say online. :confused3 We had to book directly through Captain Marvin's because Lennon is too young to book any of the stingray excursions through DCL.

I just realized 2 weeks ago that our passports and birth certificates were not where I thought they were. :scared1: DH has his (he keeps it in his briefcase..he's a bit anal). We were flooded and our neighborhood had to be evacuated last Mother's Day. Our house was in disarray for weeks. I now think in all of that chaos some of our documents were inadvertently thrown out.:scared1: I almost had a nervous breakdown when I went to pull them out and they weren't there. I sent away for our birth certificates (they came in 3 days) and I still have my old expired passport. Since we are taking separate excursions, the joke at our house is if you miss the boat we'll meet back up in NH. It'll be each man for himself trying to get home!:lmao:

Koby - That was some flood. I could not believe the amount of rain that fell. We have a little stream that runs next to our neighbors house. It turned into a pond with a raging river that took out some of the road, which they had to close. I am sorry to here that the rain caused such problems.

15 days until the cruise and I got my Docs today!!!:

Hey everyone! Just got back from taking the kids to see the Easter Bunny. Riley, my 3 year old, says "He was a fake." I asked him why, and he said because his eyes weren't real. Hopefully, he won't think that of Mickey and Minnie on the boat.:sad1:

Val, did you find out about your passports? Do you have backup birth certificates? I am stressing for you. We went on a Disney cruise out of California in 2005 (where we live) and we got our passports then. Do we need passports and birth certificates or just our passports? The reason I ask is because it is SO hard to find a good preschool here, and so we are on a waiting list. They have a lottery to see if you will get in. The day of the lottery this year is on the 18th (the day we leave) and my friend, who also wants her 3 year old in, said she would sign Riley up, but they need the birth certificate. I would feel really awful though, if Riley got in and her son didn't after she waited for the lottery. We'll just have to see what happens.

We got our documents this morning!:cloud9: So, I am going to go through them now. I hope everyone has a good day.

Jenni

It will be myself, DH, DD 11 and DS 9 on the cruise.

I do have few questions hoping someone can help: do you have to schedule a time for the Life Style Photo's or is it a little less formal first come first served type affair, also what kind of remedies are people going to be using for seasickness?

thanks,

April

Hi
I don't know much about when the ship leaves port, maybe it has to do with the weather, just a thought, how about you repeat cruisers any ideas?

About Southwest now that I can help you with, I usually bring the copy of the e-ticket that I printed when I purchased our tickets, just in case, and then we bring our boarding passes and your id's, thats it.

Cheryl

We are bringing Bonine and ginger. I had cruised in the past but my children had not. Yes, you can feel motion (sometimes). Our first dinner was in Parrot Cay (6:00 seating). At the end of dinner, the Christmas garland in the dining room started to sway! My DD looked at me and became pale. I don't think she expected to feel that much motion and it freaked her out a bit. I quickly took her out of the dining room and back to our room. I gave her another bonine and she was fine for the rest of the night and the cruise. There are times that you forget that you are on a ship and other times when there's no mistaking it.:scared1: Someone did get sick that first night in the elevator. That was a bit nasty!

Yes my son will be in the teen club, he's also going on the teen excursion on Castaway Cay, how about your daughters? I found the thread I will talk to him about it.

I think Nick and my husband are going on the Catamaran Stingray Snorkel Tour is that a Disney excursion? If so it is probally the one that I signed them up for.

Hey guess what I got my Documents today too.. I was a little disappointed that they came in such a small package...I guess I was thinking there would be so much more in the package, even thou Amy did tell me it wasn't much...
