Hello everyone --

I can't believe I have only just today found this thread, particularly since I have relied on these boards for years and I booked this cruise months ago!

Anyway, my name is Sarah (the "sarahste" that has been noted on the list of "who's going") and I'm booked on the 4/21 Western Magic cruise. I'll be traveling with my husband and our two youngest children: DD (age 8) and DS (age 3). We're also bringing my mother and stepfather and another family with whom we're friendly (they have a daughter the same age as ours).

Can't wait until 4/21! I only just ran across the thread this afternoon and I haven't had time to read ALL the posts. I'll try to catch up tonight (when I'm not at work -- ha ha). Is there anything of great importance that I should know about? Any plan to get together and meet? Any joint excursions? Any recommended hotels or restaurants in Port Canaveral for the Friday night before? Any special info I have missed out on? Any information or help would be appreciated. Clearly, I'm a bit behind schedule!!

thanks for any help you can give. Perhaps I'll get the chance to meet you in a few weeks!

So I just heard from my TA, I guess she isn't out of the country anymore and she saids that the documents come directly from DCL and are sent out 2 weeks before your cruise?

So all you repeat cruisers which is it, from your TA if you have one? or always directly from DCL even if you have a TA ?

Cheryl

Val - On our trip (RVing) through Nebraska(saw Chimney Rock) we took Route 80 right by Grand Island to Omaha, I think.

I was hoping that someone else had been to "The Good Life!" in Nebraska. I saw you and (I think) Wendy had been here--not that there's much to see or do around here anyway! Yes, what we call "I-80" does go right past Grand Island (2 hours west of Omaha, which is where we fly out of).

no docs here yet!! urgh! UPS man came today and brought me two boxes, no documents! the nerve

I KNOW! UPS came yesterday. No docs. FedEx came today. No docs. :sad2:

the temperature went from 80 degrees yesterday to 40 degrees today. welcome to the buckeye state.......

Yeah, we went from 78 degress on Monday to cold 40 mph winds on Tuesday. :cold: BRRRRR this morning. Weather Channel on my toolbar said 27 but felt like 10! It's supposed to snow tonight. Now I want sunny, sandy beaches even more!

:welcome: Sarah (and families)! Molli (ohMom) has a list going with many of the DISers on it with lots of the info you're wondering about. Send her a PM with your names, ages, home state, Fri accomodations, transportation to port, room/deck #, etc. (did I forget anything else, guys?). She'll email you a spreadsheet with everyone else's info (although some people are still not on the list!!! :rolleyes1). She also lists the DIS meets: in the terminal before boarding, Promenade lounge @3 PM on embarkation day, tastings, far end of family beach on CC, etc. There are three families (actually 2 1/2) doing Captain Marvin's short excursion on GC, and we're meeting for breakfast at 6:45-7 AM before tendering in. There are a handful of other 8 & under kids in our DIS group, too. My boys are 5 & 3, so they'll probably play in OC together! If you read back posts, you'll see we have posted family photos and also have Amy (alikat99) doing these great "get to know your fellow DISers" questions once a week. Just because you're a little late joining doesn't mean you can't get caught up! ;)

Welcome Sarah -

Val did a great job of listing info for you.

It is snowing here. AND ACCUMULATING!!:scared1:

I wasn't expecting this. I will have to go through my Cruise things to get warmer. It is really coming down. I have to go check the weather channel website.

So I tried contracting my TA for our documents and she is out of the country until Monday and we leave on Tue the 17th so what do you think are my odds of getting my documents(you do have to get them from your TA if you have one, correct?)before I leave. So what happens if I dont get my documents before we leave? Will this be a problem?

Cheryl
Cheryl - don't stress about your documents too much. Now that you can check in online, the only thing that your documents have that you'll need are your luggage tags (which you can get some from the porters, right at the port) and your Bahamian immagration forms that you can get at the port and fill them out there.

Cheryl
Typically, DCL will send them to the TAs first, then the TA would send them on to you. Now, your TA could have said to have the documents sent to you directly, because I think that the TAs can do that.

Welcome to the group, Sarah!!! You can jump right in where you are, we'll get you caught up. I see that Val has already filled you in on OhMom's DISers list, so PM her your information to get on the list. I'm going to bring a little something for all the kids, so make sure that they're on the list. Jump right in and start chatting away, because we only have 17 days to go!!!:cheer2:

Ok, now that I've caught up, I can say...

My docs are here!!!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

:welcome: Sarah!! also include which dining time you are (main/late) and FYI not to keep bombarding you with info but most of us late diners have linked our reservations to be sat as a group in the restaruants. once you get the spreadsheet from me, you'll see who has linked, we have requested APL.

cheryl -- i have booked through TA and my docs just came to me in the past. i booked through Dreams this time, i just think the consensus is that there is no rhyme or reason on how the docs are mailed. they just randomly appear at your doorstep. as Amy said, no stress :)

lets focus on important things.....like AI tonight :teeth:

the three phone lines at my house all voted for Chris last night, DH and I were pleasantly suprised by him. we kinda wrote him off a few weeks back. i've been voting for the underdog that I like and thought did a good job in my quest to neutralize some sunjaya votes, Paige is not happy with my strategy. and did you all see the sign "Sunjaya is my Papaya" what the hey?

ACCUMULATING SNOW???!!!! :scared1: YUCK!!!

Just think, Castaway Cay!!!

Our temp dropped today too, yesterday it was in the 70's today its 40's and raining.

Welcome and I'm so glad you found us!! As Val and Amy stated before, just jump right in and enjoy. We are one big happy family here :grouphug: Just be careful, its very addicting.

the temperature went from 80 degrees yesterday to 40 degrees today. welcome to the buckeye state.......

And I thought Michigan had cornered the market on weather changes. :rotfl2: We went from 70s to 30s in the past 2 days. I think that was the first time I was ever welcomed to the Buckeye State. Of course, I am ususally only visiting Ohio wearing a Michigan or Tiger Jersey on my way to root against an Ohio team.

Just checked the front door and there was a large envelope type package there ... not cruise docs though. What a let down that was.

We had that weather at the end of last week. Now it is 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky -- it is coming your way!!!! Glad to see more of you are getting your docs. :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

There are three families (actually 2 1/2) doing Captain Marvin's short excursion on GC
:lmao:

Val, that made me lol. DH and I have known each other for 35 years. We've been a couple for almost 30 but we're always in 2 different places. Perhaps that's our secret!!

I've started the countdown at our house. Everyday I say "in 3 weeks we'll be at ______ doing_____. I just told my son 2 weeks from today we'll be driving to the airport.

Hi Everyone and Welcome Sarah!!!!! Let Sarah be a shining example to all you Lurkers out there - Come on in from the cold!:grouphug:

I'm watching that Celebrity X Cruises commercial of the lady thanking everyone like she's accepting an Academy Award, when she's really on the cruise entering the restaurant for dinner......
If you have late seating and my dining rotation, and I've had a couple of Drinks O'the Day, Then Expect to see me pulling that stunt

Molli, there's an esthetician school close by to here and I've just started going there for glycolic peels (which are only $25! - Microdermabrasion is only $35!) Anyway, I read a sign on the door last week when I went asking for "models" for permanent make-up and I thought of you...How is it turning out? I didn't know you had to have a second application. What color eyeliner? do you get to pick a color?

Me and Ed just ordered travel insurance from Travelex for $190.
Like i said before Eddie is a supervisor over at U P S and he's been checking every morning and nothing as of yet. I think the last time we cruised we got our documents directly from Disney. But Eddie told me not to lock the Forever door in the morning when I leave for work just in case FedEx is handling the shipping.

Is anyone doing the GC Catamaran Stingray City & Snorkel tour with us? We're doing the 12:00 noon tour.

This afternoon I made those Chocolate covered Peeps I was telling you about. They taste like Mallowmars! I only had two, they're very rich. I used the Ghiradelli chips, melted them and waited until it coooled a little so it wouldn't melt the Peep. I used a big spoon and I spooned it over the Peeps. They don't look very professional, but I don't think anyone will care after biting into the first one!

Ed's mom (Angie, coming on the cruise) will be making the Italian Meat Pies with Eddie and Mike either Friday or Saturday....Yeah, Yeah, I know, no meat on Fridays, but they're just making them. Those things are muy deliciouso! The Italian market over here charges $10 A Pound for a piece of those! Angie calls them Cholesterol Specials, but we only have them once a year, so what the hey, you know?

Congratulations to those who have received their documents today!!!!
Goodie for you:cheer2:
We are patiently waiting for ours:rolleyes1 We know they'll come:coffee:

Oh, a couple more things; here's a pic of Lynette and Eddie
EddieLynette.jpg

and finally a nice photo of MIL/FIL Angie and Jack

MomJack.jpg

One more thing:

Kyralyn won points on VMK and she printed out the certificate. The only hitch, she has to present it at Disney at VMK Central on Main Street.

Is there anyone out there who is cruising with us who will be visiting Disney that would take ten minutes (if that) out of their time to stop by and pick up Kyra's points? I just have to mail the certificate to you and then you present it and pick up a little card.
She would appreciate it. Thank you:goodvibes

ONE MORE THING:laughing:
I got an email from my aunt about a video of a little girl, 3. It is HYSTERICAL!!!!!
Go to YouTube and enter Kassie 3......It is so precious!!!
Watch her little hands when she's trying to explain...
BTW, there's a curse word in it, but I let my girls watch it because it's not that bad (I say it anyway!) and she is just sooooo innocent.

Our docs will be here Friday!!!

:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Just received an email from the agency that they went out 2nd day air today. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Now, Molli - about Idol. Wonder who will get the boot tonight? Definitely not Sanjaya. He's causing too much of a stir. :rotfl:

It was 80 yesterday & today, and now the wind is howling & the temp has dropped to the 50's. High for this weekend is in the 40's. Brrrrrrr.
