Oh, you have to make door signs!!! Or, I'll make 'em for ya!!! You guys should check out my door, it's almost completely covered!!!:rotfl2:

I wouldn't even know where to start on making one! :confused3

Edited: Amanda, I guess you've given me a good start! But now what?

Val, I use Paint Shop Pro. But there are easier versions of software to do basic signs with. There is also a huge thread somewhere here on the DIS, and they have signs for you to use also if you don't want to start from scratch. :thumbsup2 (I need to find that thread.........)

I've only made 3 so far, plus this one tonight. :lmao: I need to do a few more I think. Going to print them on regular paper, laminate, and use magnetic strips. I'm also going to print out the mouse "ears" to go around the room number.

Wow! You guys were busy today. I love the "Talking stalking chocoholics" :rotfl2: Work was very busy for me today so I didn't get to stalk, I mean check the DIS.

Amanda--my DH has a yellow shirt to wear on this cruise too! That would be great if they had them on at the same time. :rotfl: He also has a orange one. Hey, He picked them out.

I started on my door sign this weekend. Anyone know what type of glue to use on those foam sheets? I had bought some foam glue but I was jipped, it was dried up in the container!! I tried Elmers glue but that does not seem to work.

I have to check the Disney site for the dining thing. I'll post what it says.

Hello everyone

I have been reading everyones posts and I was wondering how you guys found out your dining time? Where did you check? Also can you go in and do the On-line check in anytime? or is it better to do it right before we leave? Can you tell this is my first cruise ever and I'm over thinking alot. I'm also thinking I'm forgetting to do something, where is everyone in the planning stages-are you all set? Still have things to do? Just waiting for the days to go by? I think I'm alset except for packing which I seem to never do until the last minute. Also any last minute advise? what not to forget? etc... etc...

Thanks

I think that there's no way to know your EXACT dining time until you get your KTTW card. The internet only tells you if it's early or late.

I have done MOST of my on-line check in, but I do need to do a couple more things (I think my payment choice), before I'm actually done. I do think that there's a deadline (within the week before).

Don't worry too much about over-thinking this, because I think that almost every first time cruiser does this. I know that I did.

As for the planning stages, I'm pretty much done at this point. We're doing non-Disney excursions, and I've made my decisions and made my reservations. And, I've made my Palo & spa ressies and checked my kids in online.

As for packing, I have a lot of my cruise stuff in one place and about a week before we leave, I pull out my suitcases and lay them out on the couches in my living room. Then, I break out my extensive packing list and start crossing off things that I won't be bringing on this trip. Then, I start dumping my cruise stuff in the bags, crossing it off the list. I'm not actually packing at that point, just dumping. Then, I start with clothes and make lists of EXACTLY what we're wearing and on what night. And, on my last cruise, this worked really well. I bought 2-gallon ziploc bags and put the entire family's clothes for the night into each bag. This obviously doesn't work for formal clothing, but it works for the more casual stuff. Toiletries are the last thing that I pack. And now that DCL has changed over to the H2O products, I don't pack shampoo, conditioner or lotion because their stuff is awesome!!!

I hope that helps!!!

thats what I had thought I had read somewhere. But in the last few replys from Mickymania, dvc2themax and Cyndibear they stated that they knew their dinning time, so I guess I was hoping they would share how they knew now before getting on the ship. I would love to know now then I would know if I have to run to change my Palo reservation or not.

So guys if you are out there could you share with us how to find out our dining time?

thanks for the info

I still have door signs to print, laminate, etc. I *think* I've purchased everything we'll need. About a month from now I'll get really serious about packing. For now, it's all a jumbled mess of things I've thrown in the suitcase as I buy it. ;) Excursions are planned, online check in complete, and the contract is printed. DH & I have passports, for DD we're using her birth certificate while we still can. I do need to get a rental car booked, but that's no huge thing - I'll probably do that a couple of weeks before we leave.

I am going to browse for more memory cards for my camera, because I know I'll need them! I am also a photo-holic. Yes, that's a word (to me anyway).

A few years ago, there were only 2 dining times, 6:00pm and 8:30pm. Last year, DCL decided to do staggered dining times for each of the seatings, so you would either dine at 5:30/5:45/6:00pm for early seating and 8:00/8:15/8:30pm for late seating. You can go into the DCL site and pull up your reservation and email it to yourself and it will come back with a time. The problem is that DCL still only tells you the old dining times of 6:00pm or 8:30pm. I haven't seen anyone yet that has been able to get their EXACT dining time. So, if you do it, you'll come back with either 6:00pm or 8:30pm, but that's not necessarily when your specific dining will be.

Clear as mud???

We just bought a laptop with DH's yearly bonus check, so we'll be bringing the laptop to download photos (but we do have a 2G memory card, which should hold a lot). But, if anyone runs out of space, we'd be more than willing to burn your photos to CD or DVD (we have both on the new laptop). Shutters will do it too, but they charge $14.99 per CD (not even DVD).

WE ARE, TOO!! :woohoo: (Add that to the list of similarities, too!) We just bought a new camera after Christmas (Nikon D40 DSLR) and LOVE it! We happened to come across great deals on SD cards, so we have a small collection of them. We have two 2 GB, two 1 GB, two 512 MB, two 256 MB, and just bought a 2 GB Ultra. We will be able to take THOUSANDS of pictures. So, everybody, put on your smiley faces :) ...I'm sure you'll be in our pics!

:lmao: You're kidding me right? I JUST bought a Nikon D50 DSLR. I started laughing when you posted you got a Nikon.....I don't know if I should laugh or be freaked right now. :confused3 :rotfl: Mine came last week, and I've taken about 200 photos - well most I deleted, just trying out different stuff. So far, I only have a 1GB card for it, that's almost 300 photos....but who am I kidding, I know I'll take more than that.

We'll all probably have to post photos when we return, and pick out our families from someone else's pictures. :) I'll be the geek with the camera around my neck at all times, wondering around like a kid in a candy store.

:rotfl2: (I seriously am on the floor laughing right now!!) We must be twins that were separated from birth! And happened to marry a set a twins that were also separated at birth! :rotfl2: I was freaking out yesterday, but now...I don't know what to think! :lmao: I'm past freaking and am now wondering just what else is going to come up! And speaking of being a geek with a camera around the neck, couldn't Nikon come up with something more attractive than the huge black and bright yellow strap?!?!?!?! It is so ugly! How am I supposed to coordinate my outfits with that? At least we will match--like twins! :rotfl:

BTW, I don't think there is any better camera than the Nikon D40/D50 (very similar) for the $$. We bought a Canon Power Shot 8.0 MP at Thanksgiving and hated it. Our 5.5-year-old 3.0 MP camera was so much better that we returned it, even though it was very highly rated in Consumer Reports. For the average Joe, I'm sure it would have been fine, but the photo quality was just so poor that we couldn't stand it. DH did extensive online research and found the Nikon to be the best for photo quality (one of his employees has a D50, which helped seal the deal). Yay Nikon!

Ok, I can't be triplets with you guys, but we just got a Canon Rebel XTi DSLR. We're going to be some crazy photographers during this cruise!!!:rotfl2:

Well, my eyes just bugged out of my head. Thread stalkers, nearly identical acting husbands, new cameras, chocoholics......what next?

The 3 Musketeers - or 3 Stooges, depending on what day it is. :lmao:

And, the funny thing is that I wasn't even thread-stalking today!!!:rotfl2: The youngest had preschool this morning, and I have been painting my dining room all morning. I have to go pick her up soon, so I stopped my painting, wrapped up all my stuff and sat down for a quick DIS fix before leaving!!! I guess that I just "felt" you guys posting, and just HAD to check to see!!!:rotfl2:
