APRIL 2016 Rental Car Discount ~ Promo Code ~ Rate Watch

Alamo rates are low right now. Just re-booked 4/15-4/24 with MCO pick up and PBI drop off with Costco code and $35 off coupon (AD8183SDM) for total cost of $126.16 (with $7.50 frequent flier mile charge)!

It's going down indeed, but nothing even close (at least for me) compared to using Brazil Vegas code. Price for me on Alamo website is U$ 369.35 versus 193.00 with the BV code.

I'll keep trying as I don't feel 100% comfortable using that (due to the fact it includes CDW for my reservation).

Last night, I was checking rates at alamo and used this coupon. First, I did a check on a weekly rate. Then, I checked for just one day. I forgot to remove the coupon and was expecting the request to give me an error, but, the coupon worked for the single day rental. It showed rates from $5 to $15 dollars for the day. It's a great rate, if they will honor it!

I posted on the May watch thread and then realized I need to be here on the April thread. We just decided to fly instead of drive down for our cruise. I need a rental from the night of April 28 to the morning of May 1, so basically 2.5 days. Pick up at MCO and return to Port Canaveral. So far, all I can find is running about $50 a day. What codes or contract nos. should I be trying? Checked with Costco, and it was high. Alamo with my membership no. was high.

The best I have found is $118.79 for my 2.5 days using the Vegas Brazil code and the AU coupon. I hope I can end up with better than this. Oh how I long for the days when I could a rental there for around $20 a day all in.

I have not had any luck with Alamo this year. It is usually my go to. Alamo Vegas Brazil and $35 coupon is $185 for a midsized, where I currently have $145 with Dollar for a full size. I rented Dollar once and did not have a bad experience. I joined their Express club. If nothing changes in a month, Dollar it is.

Try the AD coupon (above in thread) and Costco ID if you are a member.

I am a Costco member, but don't see where to put a coupon code on their site. Should I be doing something different?

Came back to add that I fiddled around some more. Found the Costco ID, but the rate went up with that, even with the coupon. Using the Vegas ID and the $35 off coupon, I did get it down to $84.82 for my 2.5 days, which I am fairly pleased with. Brings it down to about $34 a day.

I also knocked off$1.50 on my 1 day rental from the Port back to the airport this morning using the Vegal contract, but no coupons worked for a one-day rental.

Next question is, with the $35 off coupon, do I actually need the coupon or is that available to anyone from Alamo?

I'm not sure if this ones been shared or not, but I got a pretty good rate on a SUV out of Sanford using this so I thought I'd pass it along in case it helps anyone. It's for Avis, the AWD Number A686200 and coupon code MUGA048. The coupon is for $15 off rental of an intermediate or higher vehicle.

Interesting, I've never seen a decent deal with Avis. How many days, and what was the rate?

It's a Friday - Monday rental (4/29 - 5/2) for $88.44 (total with taxes/fees) for an intermediate SUV, which isn't too bad compared to other rates I've been finding. I'm still hoping to do better between now and then, but I hadn't seen this low with Avis in all my checking.

I also have an Alamo reservation for $87.89 for a fullsize car.

Is it possible to check in at the kiosk with the Vegas/Brazil code and the 35.00 coupon? I remember in the past if there were coupons attached you needed to go to the counter.

Not only can you use the kiosks, but you can online check in. I've already checked in using both the code and coupon, no problems. After online check in, you go STRAIGHT TO THE GARAGE!!! Saves sooo much time opposed to the counter!!

I used the online check in with the Vegas Brazil code back in December without any issues.

Alamo rates via Costcotravel are down to 220.00. to me, it's a difference small enough (compared to VEGAS BRAZIL one) to make me switch. 27.00 is a difference I can live with and will give me piece of mind of the CDW issue.

Hope this can help others...

It's crazy how these car rental prices fluctuate. The same minivan I booked yesterday for 220.00 is today 360.00 with the same company (Alamo). I suggest folks to keep checking daily to see if the prices will go down.

I am having terrible luck. The best I can do for 4/13 - 4/23 is $498 from Alamo. That's about double what we normally pay

I have tried everything

I just made a reservation with Alamo for the same time frame for under $150 this morning. what are the things that you tried?

Just got my DD's April Alamo rental down to $142.36 using Visa upgrade and Vegas Brazil code (no CDW). 4/3 - 4/8 . Upgrade from Compact to Mid-size
