April 2012 Car Rentals

Seriously -- what is going on with Alamo this year? I have always used them with the Costco code. Right now, it seems like the Costco code is not really giving any discount and the prices are so high to begin with.

Thank goodness for Budget, but i really like Alamo -- I'm just super frustrated that their rates are so high and not dropping.

Vent over. :)

I agree all I have is the above Budget code and that is still kind of high at 217 for 4 nights

any other codes or when do you think they will come out
thanks

Alamo is crazy this year! I went the same time last year and was able to get a compact for less than $150 for a week. Now it is costing over $400!!!:scared1:

I booked mine but I am continually looking for a better deal.

thanks keep me posted if you get a better deal not much difference in car type prices either 164,176,180 then add on the fees!

I have a Dollar Reservation from Sanford airport (4/21-4/28) for $238 including taxes an fees. I used Promo Code 570. I'm going to keep shopping.

I can use some leftover Delta Skymiles and get a Budget rental for $142. I'm hoping the overall rate will go down and my miles alone will cover it as we get closer to the date. ;)

I agree. We like to use Alamo. but for April the prices are ridiculous! I have tried both BJ and Costco and the rates do not change.

Dollar and Thrifty rates just went down with City Specials! 8 days mid April 268 total for intermediate

I am just wondering if I use these Budget codes someone posted in the 2nd post (code X474200 with coupon MUGZ058) are they going to ask me for an actual coupon? and where is the code from? Just worried that they won't let me use it and I will end up paying like $800!

I have never been asked for the coupon. I have no idea where the codes came from, other than floating around on the Dis. I have used these codes a few times without any problems. :thumbsup2

On Budget's site you can contact them. I did and asked about the code and the need for documentation. They told me that it was not necessary, that it was a public code and anyone could use it. I've carried that letter with me everytime I've rented using that code but have never needed it. For your own peace of mind, I'd suggest doing the same thing!

Booked Dollar in April for 17th through 24th - for $280 using BJ's codes. Tried Budget code in thread and also BJ's for Budget and Alamo, which were both over $400 for the same time period. I paid $130 for 8 days in December 2011 with Alamo....

Not sure what size vehicle you are looking for but Expedia.ca has some good deals for us Canadians now. I think a US resident is able to book on there as well. A compact for $127 or midsize $130 inc taxes for your dates.

I wish I knew if it was okay for US residents to book on the Canadian site. The rate for our dates (in May) are $138 for a full size from Saturday-Saturday. Much better than our $302 for the mini-van on the US site. We don't really need the room, we just got it because it was only $5 more than the full size.

I'd love to pay $138!!!

Read the fine print - it said the rate was valid for us and canadian residents. Call the number listed for Expedia and ask if there are any issues with you booking through that site as a US resident. But if that all works out to your advantage, call your credit card company and make sure you won't get socked also check into that once I got the go ahead from expedia.ca. so there are no surpries on your credit card bill.
