April 2012 Car Rentals

For anyone who has booked with Budget before...do you get charged if you cancel your reservation [at least 48 hours in advance]?

They have the best prices now, but I want to keep looking as I usually use Alamo or National. I know Alamo does not charge.

Also, any advantages to signing up to be a 'member' with Budget?

Do you get to pick out your car, like you do at Alamo & National?

When I booked with Budget I did not have to give my Card number. I prefer Alamo myself still I still will be looking.

Not sure what size vehicle you are looking for but Expedia.ca has some good deals for us Canadians now. I think a US resident is able to book on there as well. A compact for $127 or midsize $130 inc taxes for your dates.
Thank you -- I will take a look!!!!

Read the fine print - it said the rate was valid for us and canadian residents.

I never found this fine print, but I did contact them. They said it was fine, but to understand that I would be paying in Canadian Dollars. She was super nice as she laughed at me ;)while converting the prices for me. The C$137 is equal to USD$133.89. I'm okay with paying $137 Canadian dollars.

Can I use a credit card with an international billing address?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes! if you have a credit card with a billing address outside Canada you can use it to:
reserve hotel rooms
reserve rental cars
When entering credit card information online, click "Non-Canada billing address" to enable the international billing address format.

This information is straight off their website. I would think we would need to check with Budget and our credit card company also. I just haven't had time to do that yet today.

I used the Budget code X474200 to rent a standard SUV Mar 30 - Apr 7 without any problem at all: $359; less than 1/2 of what I had booked on Expedia and AmExpTravel for a standard-sized car. I should have checked Disboards first!
I had always found better rates for Alamo/National with pick-up @ Dolphin but the rates for Spring Break are horrendous!

I used Budget X474200 with coupon MUWZ056 or MUGZ058 ($30 orr $25 off...really don't recall which I used or how much the discount will be when I return the car!)

Mini van -- April 21-28th -- $302 w/taxes

HTH!

Thanks for posting! Although the coupon codes are no longer valid, the X474200 is. I was able to rent a standard SUV for April 20-28 for $359 including tax. Everywhere else was 800 and up to 1200 for the same time frame.

I used the Budget codes and a minivan for April 22-30 was $415 with taxes. I will continue looking...

Try the Budget site again. Last night when I booked the SUV, minivans were the same price.

Thanks for the code! I just got $302 for a mini-van for Apr. 4-11! I usually have good luck with hotwire, but this was a quarter of the price showing, plus I"m not locked in, so any changes and I can take advantage!:thumbsup2

:banana::banana:OMG! I am seriously doing the hokey pokey happy dance:cool1:! I have a Budget Ressie for mini van 10 days in April - $530.88 (with the travelocity code.)

I JUST BEAT that with Alamo! Entertainment coupon $25.00 off when you rent minivan and entertainment ID code... wait for it...

$375.73:cool1::worship: You all are the BEST!

I am hanging on to the Budget ressie for a little while, cannot believe the Alamo rate just yet!

I booked for April 23-28 on expedia.ca and I'm American. We have received the MC statement already and were charged $124 plus I think about $3.00 for the transaction fee. I called Dollar and they have my reservation and said I shouldn't be surprised with any additional fees unless I sigh up for something. That's one less bill to pay when we get back from vacation and the price can't be beat!

The "name" on the offer under Alamo is SPECIAL $25.00 Off, when you click on it, it gives you 25% off and $25.00 off an SUV, Minivan or convertible good until June 2013. The offer says it will require to produce a coupon, I am assuming if it was online it will be in my book when it comes. If you still have trouble fining it, PM me your email and I will send you a link.

Currently booked with Alamo for Mar 31 - Apr 10. Used BJs codes & got standard size [cheapest at the time] for $430.37. Still hoping to do better. But beats one quote I had for over $1000.

Prices were up this weekend. Prices often drop during the week after 9pm.

Rates in CT are crazy, I know... have you tried the Budget code, yet? Or the Entertainment codes? Whats the closest Alamo near you? I would be happy to try the Entertainment codes... if they beat it enough, 25.00 for the book is worth it!

I got a great rate last month from National for a standard car, april 26 to may 3 (1 week + 1 day) = $121 including tax

I used Contract ID 5027112 (Visa) and Coupon ND8578ADT ($35 off weekly reantal)

Is National a reputable brand? Never rented from them (I'm from Brazil)

Thank you

National is always my first choice! I am a member of Emerald Club which allows you to bypass the counter and go straight to the lot. If you want to sign up, here is how:

I did not get as good of a rate you did. I got $288 for a mid-size 4/21-4/29. I made a reservation and I will keep trying. Thanks for the help!

WOW! I am really hoping rates drop! I am looking for an SUV/Minivan rental starting April 27th-May 6th!. We managed to get a rental last Sept/Oct for a minivan for I think $145 for 8 days!....This time it doesn't look like we will get that lucky (It was a last minute reservation though--Alamo)...I'm starting to wish now we would of just crammed ourselves into a standard room at a moderate or even POP! :confused3:surfweb:

I have no choice but to rent through Hertz as we are flying gin to Lakeland instead of MCO. I booked with the "Global Sale" for around 300 for a full size for a little over a week. Not great at all.
But recent checks are telling me the rates are getting higher not lower. Which would be fine except that my inlaws decided to join us so now I need something that will fit 6!

Thanks! Just went back to Alamo via Entertainment and the offer is for HI! I will PM you, if you don't mind.

Hi, my rate is 218.10 total according to expedia.ca. Does that mean that taxes, etc. will not be added to my rate?
Thank-you!
