April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Please pardon my previous shameless post...can't believe I scored it! I was in such a rush to get it that I didn't write anything!

Great additions to the on-going list. Here is our info to be added wherever appropriate. Thanks to all the keepers of the list! But mostly I am just thankful that it is not me! :worship:

And while we are at it...why not list/categorize where we are staying pre-cruise? And how bout a dressing like pirates list? Any takers?

Wait a minute...what is that I hear...Can you hear it??? I am not quite sure what it is...there..there it was again...did you hear that?

what is that sound....who is that sound? Wait...I think I got it....

I think it is Hypermommy and she is yelling like Horseshack in Welcome Back Kotter...oo...oo...oo...oo waving her arm and getting all hyper in her computer seat! Love you Hypermommy:hug: ...and admit it...you were doing that weren't you....Remember...admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery!

Excursions:

Key West: Wild Dolphin Encounter (on our own)
Cozumel: Dune Buggy Adventure (on our own and with Joan!)
GC: Seven Mile Beach (on our own)
CC: R&R and possibly parasailing

By the way...what is the pirate encounter?

No Spa treatments or Palo yet for us...we still haven't paid! I am having a hard time letting go of that cash! :scared1:

Fish extender participation: Yes
Yankee Swap..I am game..but have to admit that I am waiting to see what direction it takes!

Happy Tuesday everyone...and almost Hump day! Tomorrow my "baby" is turning 7!

Michelle

msdisney53, I have the just-turned 18 year old DD. She's a senior in high school. This is her fourth Disney cruise, but she's feeling like she might be a little old for the Stack. I also have a DD 15 who is a freshman in high school. Maybe our girls could e-mail each other before the cruise?

MassDisLovers; We are also repeat cruisers, this will be our 5th cruise. My 17yoDD (tomorrow is her birthday) ,her friend, my 16yo DD,her friend and my 15yo cousin will all be traveling with us. I'm sure the girls could hook up at some point. Last time they just used the Stack to meet people and then pretty much did their own thing. We will be in Disney the day before the cruise. What are your plans?

Denise:dance3:
i am so glad some teens are going the same age as my kids my dd is 14 and is in 9th grade and my son is 16 and is in 10th....my kids aren't ones for the camps but I am trying to make a big thing about disneys programs that hopefully they will be hanging out and having a great time:goodvibes

Great job with the excursion/Palo summary. I don't think I ever posted our excursions. We're doing the Eco Park and Snorkel in Cozumel, the butterflies/hell/sea turtle thing is GC, and I think we'll hit the aquarium in Key West, and maybe the butterflies there too. What can I say, my daughter's a butterfly nut!

Oh, and I booked a well-being massage for I think Tuesday at 2pm. Is that the 1st sea day? If not, then Monday? Anyway, it's the 1st sea day at 2pm. I did the hot stones in June and loved it, but thought I'd try the well-being this time to save some money.

The Cozumel excursion wasn't my first choice, but after going back and forth on bringing the kids vs. leaving them in the Clubs, I decided I'd be too nervous to leave them behind so we went with one that was little kid friendly. My daughter I could leave in the OC without much fear, but my son will only be 20 months so still young enough that I'm not sure he'll be thrilled with my absence for several hours. Obviously I'm risking that for Palo, but I figure we can always go get him if we have to. He's been in the Reef before and been okay with it, but not thrilled by it at all. We were paged on several separate occasions on 3 cruises to come get him cause he was inconsolable. Of course, he was younger then (6, 10, and 11 months) and he's starting preschool this Thursday so he'll be used to being away from me for a few hours a day, but I'm still not sure how he'll be in the Reef.

Happy Tuesday everyone...and almost Hump day! Tomorrow my "baby" is turning 7!

Michelle

Happy Birthday!

You know I thought you were on my side.....more spreadsheet additions! I thought we only had one Hypermommy - is it contagious!? Oh no!!!!!:)

Joan

yes, my dad is dineydavo. i would imagine that some kids are not into this whole disboards thing. i cant wait till the meet and the cruise! its so exciting! but, i am terrified of boats, hopefully i dont freak out!! :scared:

I mentioned your post to my sons (ages 14 and 12) and they both said to tell you hi. I think the eldest is worried that he'll turn into a disfreak like his mom if he starts getting onto the boards and heaven forbid that he admit that anything his parents do is cool. :rotfl2:

It is very exciting -- I can't wait either! I'm a bit concerned myself about being on a ship at sea as it's my first time. But the way I look at it, I've never heard about any problems at all with Disney ships and they take tens of thousands of people to sea each week. So, I'm going to let my mind control my emotions (easier said than done) and just convince myself that I'm not going to worry about it. You can do the same.... you'll be just fine.

Looking forward to meeting you. You sound like a cool kid (for whatever the opinion of a 40+ year old woman is to a teenager :rotfl: :cool1: :lmao: ).

Did you miss me on purpose because I won't add it to the spreadsheet?

Yes, that's exactly the reason. <insert maniacal evil-scientist-type laugh here>. Nah... to be honest I must have just missed it. I read back over several pages worth of thread to get the data together, but I did have to pretend to be working at the time so perhaps I just skipped over it. By accident... yeah... that's the ticket.

I think it is Hypermommy and she is yelling like Horseshack in Welcome Back Kotter...oo...oo...oo...oo waving her arm and getting all hyper in her computer seat! Love you Hypermommy ...and admit it...you were doing that weren't you....Remember...admitting you have a problem is the first step in recovery!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
OMG, now I have to go clean the coffee off of the computer screen!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

But I don't have a problem. At least one that I want to be cured of. I refuse to admit it. You can't make me. Nyahhh! :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2:

And happy birthday to your baby!

You know I thought you were on my side.....more spreadsheet additions! I thought we only had one Hypermommy - is it contagious!? Oh no!!!!!

Yes! It's an affliction with which I will take over the world <insert more maniacal laughter here>

LOL at you guys! This is gonna be great fun cruising with you!!!!!!

Okay, I updated my list. First a few notes:

anty30: i meant only bmalone wasn't swimming, but I see it wasn't clear. Let me know if this appears clearer.

Joan: didn't see the Native Way tour on the Disney page (have been pulling official names from there).... is it a Disney thing or something you booked separately? Also, what are your times for parasailing, tubes (all day rental?) and bikes on CC?

Michelle: since dressing like a pirate is more a yes/no thing, I'll leave it to Joan to add to the spreadsheet. It's just another column, girl.. just next time you open the spreadsheet, add the column. Of course, if this causes risk to my personal health, just remember that it was Michelle's idea (/me ducking and running). But seriously, if it's a pain, just let me know and I'll add it to my list.

I've added information about who's getting in when and staying where. I didn't add who's going to the parks after the cruise becuase I figure you guys would hook up if you wanted to on the cruise (and I didn't have that as I was reading through the posts -- if it would be helpful to add, just let me know... it isn't hard at all)

Michelle: you listed your excursions as "On our own"... does that mean you don't want company? LOL

Okay... so here's the list as I currently have it. Y'all let me know if I missed something or got something wrong or anything.

I made additonal column's on the spreadsheet: Pirate Dress? and Hotel Arrival. I also hightlighted those who have recently been active on the thread. That's not to say that the one's highlighted are no longer coming but it's a possiblility. They may join us again as the cruise gets closer.

Hypermommy: the excursions I booked for GC and Cozumel are through an outside company.

CC: Castaway Cay Getaway Package - All Day; Parasailing 2:20-3:30

Let me know your changes and updates!!! It's getting close! :goodvibes

Hypermommy-I truly can understand your nervousness about your first shipcruise.
Ask my sister,I was a nervus wreck the night before and had tons of nightmares. But be asured, once you step onboard and have your first marvellous Sail-away Cochtail and hear the horn for the first time-it´s all forgotten!!!!
To add to your list:
Marion Michael Silke and me are doing Captain Marvins in Grand Cayman and will walk around Key West(Maybe the Old Town Trolley).
And Marion und Michael will have Palo DInner on their Wedding Day.

Take Care

Thanks! I think I'll be okay as long as I stay near the top of the ship. It's sleeping down in the bowels (2105) that scares me. But by the time I head off to sleep I'll have had a few drinks of the day (me with a buzz.... now that's a scary thought) so I'll be okay.

And Marion und Michael will have Palo DInner on their Wedding Day.

And that's the 21st, right? Do you know the time?

I haven't seen the spreadsheet, but I was wondering if any of us have little kids. My daughter will be 4yo and it'll be her first time in the OC so I was hoping I could sorta talk up some other kids, or introduce her to some at the onboard meet. Last year she went to Flounder's, even though she was completely potty trained, because she did not like being in the OC alone. Our son was in Flounder's so she was happy as a clam to go there. I know she'll go to the OC without complaint this time around, but I also know she's not thrilled about it. She woke up one day last week and out of the blue said "Ya know Mommy, I really like Henry's Club better. You know, on the Mickey boat?"

Oh, and I'm not 100% positive we'll do the DCL excursion in Key West yet. We booked it just in case, but I'm leaning towards just walking around and doing those things on our own. We'll see. I've been to Key West before so I feel like a tour would be sort of a waste, but my husband and kids have never been so I don't know. I'll have to figure out the pricing one our own vs. DCL and see what's better.

I haven't seen the spreadsheet, but I was wondering if any of us have little kids.

Based on what I see in the spreadsheet there are:

Girls - Ages 3 (2), 4 (1), 5 (1), 6 (0), 7 (5) (not counting your own)
Boys - Ages 3 (0), 4 (0), 5 (0), 6 (5), 7 (6)

So there should be plenty of kids for her to meet. That should help her feel better. Don't know how she is about playing with kids slightly older than her... you'd know that better, of course. Hope that helps.

If you decide against it, just let me know. Editing the list is not hard at all. One point to make though... I remember years ago DH and I were part of a group from work that took a trip to NYC and did a bus tour. He thought it was going to be boring becuase he grew up just outside of the city. But after the tour he remarked how interesting it was and how he didn't know a lot of that stuff. Not trying to change your mind or anything ... we'll probably just walk around ourselves.... just something I thoguht of while reading your post.

Thanks for the tip. My husband sorta wants to do the tour so he'll be happy to know others are helping him out!

Madison actually likes older kids, well, all age kids really. Her preschool class has kids 28 kids between the ages of 2 and 9 months and almost 6yos so she's used to the mixed age group thing. She's very friendly and outgoing, and has no problem getting dropped off at new activities at home, but on DCL she flipped out at her OC trial (a week before she turned 3yo) and wouldn't go near the place alone at 3 and 4 months either. Go figure.

Kids! :-) I quit trying to figure mine out... it was making my brain hurt.

This list is great. Thanks for posting it. We wanted to go to the park where they do the dolphin encounter but my kids wouldn't be up to swimming with the dolphins. So we just did the observer because its the only excursion that goes to the park without adding cost for swimming. Could we have gone on our own? Probably but I was trying to keep it to a DCL excursion to be safe and because I have money to waste! :) (not really)

You all are so organized it scares me! Thanks for all you are doing.

Hi everyone,
Joan,
I am trying to print off the spreadsheet, is there a password or something to access it??:confused3 You can add us as pirate dressing. The night before we are staying at WDW.

Hypermommy,
We are neighbors in the bowels-room 2108. I did a lot of research in the selection of this room and I think we will like it down there:woohoo:

For everyone else...
Is everyone vaccinating their families for Hepatitis before the trip??

Thanks all,
Angie

Angie, 2108 was our cabin last trip. It is a fantastic location.:thumbsup2

As far as vaccinations go, no, we are not doing that. I dont feel it is necessary, IMHO.

Anty

Anty, what did you like about 2108 since we're close by?

As far as vaccinations... I called the pediatrician and they said they didn't think the kids needed any vaccinations. But the nurse I talked to didn't sound really sure about that. I'm going to get in touch with my doctor and see what he says. What have y'all heard about pros and cons (other than the normal cons of getting vaccinated)?
