April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

For those still wating for Southwest it still looks like Nov. 8th is the day.

From Southwest:

We are currently accepting air reservations through March 7, 2008. On November 8, we plan to open the schedule for purchase through May 9, 2008. This date is subject to change!

I keep checking and hoping it changes to Nov 7, We leave for WDW on Nov 8 and I'm afraid the flights won't be posted by the time we leave for the airport:confused:

Do you have someone who can buy the flights for you?

I already spoke with my aunt and she will book for us if we are not here but I much rather do it myself. This way we could really compare prices and departure times. If we are not in the air at the time we will have to discuss everything via cellphone.

Hey everyone!!!

For those who remember me.....I am indeed still alive!!! To the newbies on our cruise - WELCOME!!!!!!!

My summer was not without hecticness. It was spent looking for a new job as I had gotten let go from my job after 5 yrs. very unexpectedly back in mid-May; 4 days before our WDW trip. I finally got another one mid-August and I do like it, but it has proven to have an intense learning curve. I only had 3 days training with the old Executive Asst. and she really wasn't into training me or anyone for that matter. Plus this job is VERY different from what I did in my other AA jobs. Lots more Excel work and I come from doing graphics. I miss that piece alot - I've never considered myself a numbers gal, but it's the challenge that I needed.and the next step up in my career. I was getting very stagnet at my last job -so I have to thank them that I was let go!!!! It was the push I needed. I did get severence the entire time I was unemployed, so that kept me afloat which was great.

So....here I am. Hopefully I can get back on the boards more often as I settle more into this job.

I am SO looking forward to this cruise and meeting all of you. DH and I have not made any hotel arrangements or booked airfare. We will probably wait until after the holidays in the hope of getting some good deals. Airfare is SO expensive right now.

I hope everyone had a great summer and that as we move into the holidays we remember fhe good things we have in our lives.

Peace!

Welcome back! :) Of course we remember you - you started this whole thread! Glad to see things worked out for you and you're still able to join us on the cruise. Did you get the spreadsheet?

Just off the phone with DCL. The told me ship is pretty full no longer taking reservations for quad rooms. Only space for doubles left. I was surprised.

As the resident geek on this thread who is keeping track of such things, this does not surprise me. At last check, all categories but 11 were on GTY (6 rooms left), no rooms at all for Cat 4, 8, or 12.

Hi everyone. Just checking in. :wave2:
Still checking airfares daily. Nothing yet. :sad2:
Looking into maybe flying into Daytona Beach or some other airport. Whichever is cheapest. Just holding out.:confused3

I am so looking forward to this cruise. Need a vaca. I get jealous reading about everyone else making trips to DW. I need a fix.pixiedust:

I hope you all have a great long weekend. We have off Monday for Veterans day. Going to Yankee Stadium for a tour with the kids. We want to do it before they tear it down in 2009. :sad1:

Will let you know when I get airfare. Our plan is still to fly down Friday and return on Sat.

We are still planning on driving. We are actually looking forward to it. We will be taking a 12 day vacation (including the driving). We will leave on Wed and stay in Rocky Mount, NC Wed night. Arrive Thursday afternoon and stay at All-Star Sports for 2 nights.

We are going to park at the port. I had looked into staying elsewhere the night before w/park and ride, but we decided to do it this way, as we plan on going to the parks on Friday. We can stay late and just crash back at all stars instead of driving to the port. I need to call and try and make an adr for breakfast that am at chef mickeys. That's what we did before the 10 night on the wonder and it was a great way to go. Then we'll head to the port.

I haven't booked the hotel for the drive back, we are figuring somewhere in VA. We normally just drive til we're tired, but being the end of april w/the school vacationers and the snowbirds driving back north, I'd rather book somewhere and be on the safe side.

I will be paying the cruise off right around Christmas, I think once that happens, it will sink in. What is the 90 day point?? I forget the link to calculate it. Need to Book Palo & Flounders for the little one....

Does anyone know the answer to this question: Is there ANY way first-time cruisers can book earlier than the 75 days out? I read on another thread that if you book the Romance Package that allows you to book things earlier, is that true?

Thanks
Joan

It's true. I booked a Romance package for me and the misses. Our booking window opens up on January 5th. I'm not a first time cruiser, but I think anyone who books the Romance Package has those same benefits.

Hi everyone! Just back from our WDW trip. I got so lucky. Southwest airfares popped up 1/2 hour before we left for the airport on the 8th. We payed $295 rt non-stop each, leaving ISP on 4/18 and returning MCO on 4/26. Staying at the Hyatt on the 18th. We are really happy, the price was much cheaper than all the other airlines. Now I just have to cancel the air reserved with DCL and we are all set.

:confused3 How do you all get to the port? Do you do transfers with DCL or book on your own? We still have to decide on that.

Have a great day;)
