April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

I am leaving tomorrow for a Western Caribbean cruise. Unfortunately it is not on DCL. Luckily the Magic is on an eastern cruise next week because I am afraid if I saw it I would want to switch cruise lines and jump ship.
I am going to do an excursion in Grand Cayman that includes turtle farm, tour of island and a visit to stingrays. I have left plans open for Cozumel.
I am hoping that there are no tropical storms forming and heading our way. That is the only think that concerns me when sailing this time of year.

I better go start packing!

If you can, please ask around about DCL cruising to Alaska. There is a rumor out there that they may cruise there in the next few years.

Have a great and wonderful trip and report back. Thanks:cool1:

Just to add some more confusion to the airfare discussion. My mom is a TA so I know a little more than the average bear, so to speak.
Here goes: If you are doing DCL air and pay the $50.pp deviation fee to fly in the day before the cruise, you can stay at the hotel at the airport "free of charge". They put you up. It may be worthwhile to look in to. Also regarding Disney transfers: These can also be booked/paid for separately even if you don't do disney air and you can just purchase one way..doesn't have to be roundtrip. They are included in your airfare if you book with disney or paid for separately if you purchase flights outside of DCL. Someone earlier mentioned about the cost being backed out so to speak....that can't be done. It is either included with your air or purchased separately. No type of credit or backing out the price type of thing as mentioned in an earlier post.

I hope this helps a little and doesn't confuse anyone anymore.

Regarding my personal experiences: When we did DCL air in March...our layovers going to florida were about a hour, but our trip ended up being delayed anyway cause we sat on the runway for over an hour waiting for airtraffic to calm down in Philly. Coming home, I agree with Joan..vacation is over...although there may be a layover, there is no stress involved...but we did have a 2 1/2 layover. I kinda feel like you are damned if you do and damned if you don't with layovers...you know, Murphy's law kind of thing...if you have a short layover, your flights are running late and you are rushing to meet the next flight...and if you have a long layover, you get to your destination early and the flight ends up being delayed.

Yogi: You are quite the traveler. Have a fun and safe trip! I think when you joined our thread you were doing a cruise then too..or a trip to WDW. I am quite envious!

Connie: Have a blast at Disneyland Paris! Envious x2 here!

Anty: Not booking air is truly a test of your faith! I hope it all works out for you! And if it does...we will all be bowing to your strength, faith and wisdom!

Our Promenade Lounge meet @ 2pm will be on our day of embarkation..first day onboard...Saturday! I'll be the lady with the bag of foam mickey heads!

Is anyone else having difficulty with the feature of getting an email when a new posting is made to a thread we have subscribed to? I don't get notices anymore...Here I am thinking we are all quiet and such and I log on and there is 2 new pages! I also don't get that little blue box on the main thread page that signals a thread you have responded to. I have been "dis"ed by the dis.

Yeah....Can anyone say 6 months!:cheer2:

Mousketeer, I too was waiting for Jet Blue. We're flying from MA. They should honestly be ashamed of themselves and I sent them an e mail telling them so! $399.00 one way! The week before you could get the same flight for $114.00! This was the day the schedules were released. Anyway, we ended up using frequent flyer miles on Delta. 50,000 for coach! First class had they been available would have only been 45,000, go figure. We're flying down on the 18th and staying at the Radisson near the port.

Conny...have a great time at DL Paris. We were there this past summer and had a great time! Are you staying at the DL Hotel?

Tinkified I'm not getting update emails either.

Luckily I did check the board the first of the month and was able to get switched from late seating to main. :cool1:

OlKiara
I'm with you, no airfare yet.
Where in MA?

Us either...but we're planning on driving, unless something pops up. Hubby does all the driving, so I'm ok w/it.;) It should be interesting w/our youngest, he'll be 15 months when we drive. Last time we drove, our oldest (now 6) was about 18 months. We stopped in Rocky Mount, NC for the night. When we went to get back in the car the next am...he threw a temper tantrum (not like him at all at the time) and didn't want to go in the car. Thank goodness for DVD players!! We're going to have to get a second one for the baby. Oldest can wear headphones.

Thank you so much for the info on flying in the night before and getting the hotel free of charge. I am going to call my TA tomorrow.:thumbsup2

I think I may have jumbled up my words, when I booked our cruise in May we only booked transfers which cost $69 each for a total of $276.. We just added on the airfare this month so I ment they added the airfare amount and deducted the $276 from the the total. (I hope I wrote that better this time.:rotfl: )

Is this new?? When we flew down and cruised in 03, we stayed at the Hyatt the night before and we had to pay for it. We used Disney booked air and Disney booked Hyatt...but we had to pay for the Hyatt.

Thank you OlKiara
We will be staying at the Santa Fe Disney Resort this time. We´ve already stayed at all the others except the Newport Bay Club.Naturally the Disneyland Hotel is absolutly wonderful, but we try to keep the budget down this time(more money for Shopping;) ).
We haven´t been to DLP for 5 years I guess we were spoiled by WDW.Better weather, nicer CM etc.We will see how it is right now.
Take care
everybody and good luck with all your flight arrangments.

I just called DCL on the "free of charge" room at the Hyatt Orlando, and you are right BUT only if you book the air with DCL with the deviation and you live on the West Coast is the room free of charge. I guess because the flight is so long. So unfortanately that leaves me out of a free room::sad1: But thank you for the info:thumbsup2

Wdhinn89: I would double check with that about the Hyatt because I have heard of more people having a CM tell them one thing and then another phone call later get another thing told to them. My mom, the TA, offered it to me with the DCL air and $50 deviation fee but we are on the east coast ...because we were going to do it but decided against DCL air in favor of air + hotel + car rental for a day on our own being cheaper than the whole thing they offered. It doesn't hurt to ask again. Good Luck. Keep us posted. Michelle

OK:thumbsup2 I will call again tomorrow. Hopefully I will get the reply I want. Thanks;)

For those of you from the massachusetts/new hampshire a new airline that is located in the old pease airbase in portsmoth(sp) New Hampshire just opened up some cheeper rates to florida. The Airline is Skybus and only flys to select areas of florida Fort myers and jaksonville. but maybe worth it.
www dot skybus dot com

Good luck
I think we will wait till southwest opens up or drive.

I just called again an got a different CM. He said the same thing. West coast stay at the Hyatt is complimentary if arriving the day before the cruise. East coast has a hotel charge of $185 or $175 depending on date.:confused3 Would you mind asking your mom to double check that info. Maybe they changed their policy recently but if not maybe she can get some sort of code for the complimentary stay. Thank you so much for all your help and info.

yikes:eek: i just got a call from dcl I called them about a day or two ago to see if i added airfair how much it would be.....$658 pp this is out of Islip:sad2:I do believe she said it was with delta I think these are smaller planes because sw I believe is the only airline that has the larger jets at that airport:confused3 . boy that price
is way off in my budget that mean less cocktails :rotfl2:
boy times that by 4 passengers:crazy2:

come on Southwest:banana:

I booked with DCL out of JFK and it was $455.30 pp and that included transfers to and from the port and arriving at MCO on the 18th. Still really high but the best price I have seen. An extra $50 pp would make the flight a non-stop. Still debating about that though.
Still waiting to see if Southwest is a better price.

If you don't mind me asking, who is the excursion through? Let me know how it is, I'm thinking of doing that as well through Nativeway.

Boy, I missed a lot as well! I haven't gotten the emails as well.:o

Good luck on everyone getting a flight and hotel.

Did anyone get passports yet - we need them right?
