April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Haven't posted in awhile and I just caught up on my reading.Spent this week trying to figure out flights and before and after cruise plans, South west flights out of Philly turned out to be the best for us at $238 a person .we had planned on coming home late on Sunday but it was about $70 cheaper pp. to fly out on Monday. Then I called DVC and was able to get a studio at the boardwalk (DD's favorite). This morning booked a hotel at the airport that has parking so now we can start concentrating on Excursions!!!!

Count us in on the Dismeet in the Promenade lounge

Good Morning all!

Welcome Lazeric! Glad you are joining us! The more the merrier! We have a daugter too, but she will 7...but going on 77! There is a spreadsheet that Joan (4newtocruise) has done with all the personal info...kids ages, hometown, etc. You could PM her and give your info...or hang out for a while and she will be on and may snag your info on her own. Either way, welcome....and hey, the cruise is 5 months away..not 6!

Conny...I can't access your pics...

rantnnravin:I am with you about doing a park while we are down there. We have non-expiring hoppers and a "raincheck" to MK too! We arrive the day before the cruise a little after 10am and to me it is a waste of a day in Florida if we don't do a park! We are sitting on the fence about the whole thing too...

Just a quick note to those of us who are considering doing a park before or after cruise...I know the weekend of our trip is a Grad night Celebration in MK and I believe the following weekend might be too... I think that means MK closes early (7pm?) for the celebration.

Happy pre-Thanksgiving days to all! Probably the only thing as exciting as the cruise right now in my life is the thought of mashed potatoes loaded with butter and gravy, sweet potato pie and stuffing! GOBBLE GOBBLE!

We are finally booked for our first Disney cruise! :woohoo: We are Karen(43), DH Robert (44), DD Katie (11) and DS Robert (7). This will be cruise #7 for DH and I, cruise #3 for the kids. It is a surprise for the kids, and we are going to do the parks post-cruise. We are very excited about the trip and hope to meet hope we get to know some of our fellow cruises ahead of time.

We just Booked with southwest for an obscene amount of money:scared1: ... but its non stop:cool1: and it was still cheaper than airtran...now it is on to car rentals....

Good Luck all.

Are you going out of MHT or Providence? We tried both and it was insane what they wanted. I'm originally from Upstate NY and we finally decided to go out of Albany! It's a three hour drive, but their break is early April, so the rates when we are going are cheap. We're going out Thursday afternoon and coming back Tuesday morning and were able to get the flights for 850.00 for the four of us. I thought that was pretty good for nonstop flights. We planned on staying for three or four days after the cruise anyways, so the only added expense was a hotel Thursday night. I'm sure it's cheaper than the flights out of Boston or Manchester (1470.00) was the cheapest! I can get one heck of a hotel room for that $600.00! :cool2:

It does figure though, I booked this vacation figuring that upstate NY had it's break starting the 12th and ours is ALWAYS one week later. Our district is always late in setting the school calander, so I checked out Albany's, (several members of my family still work in the area schools) and guessed when ours is. After I booked, the school calander comes out and the break for our kids starts on April 26th! I can't believe that ANY school has a vacation that goes from April 26th until May 3rd! By the time they goe back, it's almost time for summer vacation to start! Our tax dollars at work!

Will your son still be 7 on the cruise?? If so, he and my DS may meet up at the kids club/lab in the 5-7 group.

Although by looking at him you'd never guess it, he's a "big 'un". Robert's birthday is the 6th of April. I'm sure that they'll meet up!! Our last cruise, both he and my daughter would've spent the entire cruise in the kid's club, if we let them, so I'm sure it will be no different this time! Has your son been on a cruise before? By the sounds of things, it's going to be a full boat! We're really looking forward to it!

why it was someone else answering your question, it really wasn't. MY DH had just created his own profile and I didn't check tomake sure it was me that was logged in before answering!!! I had a "Blonde moment" :rotfl2:

Hi Michelle
There is no access to the pictures.QUOTE]

Thanks Conny...I got them now. The site must have been down earlier..cause when I hit the link, it came up "no access". This time, I got them! They are great! Thanks for sharing! I am going to have to keep the non-US Disney spots on my short list of things to do.

Welcome to Soonipilady and her crew!
Good night all. Off to design and purchase our photo holiday cards online!

So, 5 months till we sail...the kids don't know that we're doing this and we're trying our best to keep it that way. DD will be 11 and DS will be 7...they've been on the Carnival Fantasy for a 4 day'er to the Bahamas (They both loved it and it was hard to get them out of the Camp Carnival) and a 7 day'er on the Jewel of the Seas. They loved that one too...especially going to the ruins at Chachobben. They loved the Kids Programs there too, but from what I've read, Disney is a cut above the other lines for Kids (Young....and old!)
Definitely looking forward to this one...DW and I have been on RCI (Monarch of the Seas 7 day Southern for our honeymoon in '95 just after hurricanes Luis & Marilyn...missed most of the islands and didn't care! :rolleyes1 and the Jewel of the Seas 7 day Western...great cruise, same itinerary as Disney except we went to Costa Maya instead of Castaway Cay.
:cool2: We also did Carnival x2 (Wife pulled off surprise anniversary gift of a Fascination 5 day'er to Cozumel w/o kids :thumbsup2 and we took the kids on the Fantasy to the Bahamas) DW got an extra 4 day'er on that ship for a "girls" weekend!

We're going on a 2 day'er out of Boston on the Norwegian Gem in December (My return anniversary gift) but both of us are really psyched for Disney Magic in April! :cool1:

To the April Cruise!
I will be going on the two night Gem from NY. It leaves Boston and then they will have a Christening Ceremony in NY.

Yes, DS has been on 2 disney cruises, 1 carnival and another small one out of tampa. He loves the kids club!! It should be interesting, though, this is our first cruise with our baby. He will be 15 months on the cruise. Tyler (oldest) is very attached to the Baby (Brady). I'm wondering if he'll want to spend as much time as he normally does in the kids club, as his brother will be w/us most of the time.

We are Flying out of providence. Unfortunately we are stuck with flying Friday(18th) because of a commitment at school for my oldest. After the cruise we are booked for Saturday to fly home. the difference between Saturday and Monday was 400.00 and after food and the 2 nights hotel I figured it was a wash... but because the business class was the same as the get away pricing, I chose business class so we can change our flight home if we get the right deal.

Hi YogiBigDog -

Guess we'll have to compare notes re the Gem...booked this for my DW as an anniversary gift (12 yrs) and we're excited to go out of Boston...even in December! :3dglasses

Couldn't pass up the opportunity to be the first to see a new build in the Northeast! We thought about going out of NY, but Boston is 2 hrs vs. NY at 5 hrs...no contest for a quick getaway!

That sure makes it easier! Robert didn't like the kids club as much on his first cruise, since it meant less time with dad & mom, but the older he gets, the less interested in spending all day with us, since he can do that any time at home!;) He really likes hanging out with his new friends instead, now. DD Katie has always been a social butterfly  and would choose new friends over mom & dad anyday:rolleyes:

When are you heading down to FL? We're going down Thursday morning. Haven't decided if we're going out to the coast or staying in Orlando those first two days. Last time we stayed at the Raddison, but it was pretty dingy. The kids loved the pool, but the rest left ALOT of room for improvement!!

I guess we need to make a decision soon, though. I'm sure all the hotels will be packed on Friday night!

We are driving down, leaving brite and early on wed am, should be there thursday afternoon. Staying in Rocky Mt NC wed night. I booked all star sports for thursday & Friday nights. I had thought about going over to the port friday night, but we are planning on hitting the parks (MK at least) on Friday, so if we are staying at all star, we don't have to worry about heading to the coast that night, we can just head back to all star.
