April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

I haven't even thought about it yet, but our TA said there are a couple of places she tends to put people that are right near the airport. I go back and forth about wanting to save money and wanting to start things out right by staying at a nice place for that first night.

Usually airport hotels have shuttles back and forth starting very early in the morning so our plan is to head over to the airport in the am and hop on one of the first disney busses out of there.

If any hotel suggestions or recommendations come up, please post. In the past we never had a problem meeting the boat on time when flying but this time I just have a bad feeling. There have been so much news about delayed flights and flight cancellations it has me a little worried maybe we should fly to Florida on Friday night.

Hi everyone,
just saying hello i see my families name is on the spread sheet its official:cool1:
we did book our pre cruise at the country inn and suites looks nice
where is grills from the country inn and suites?? what time would everyone plan on going?? we might show up if our flight doesn't come in too late. still waiting for sw to open the next time slots and from what i heard it will be the slot after that one, so i just have to wait and see:surfweb: .

We are so excited about this trip, i have been reading so much about this cruise line and for the most part everyone says:thumbsup2 . right after our
''''''free dining"""" trip that we are going on in 3 days, me and my dh (jim) are
going to lose a few lbs so we look good for our cruise:rotfl2:

has anyone ever done the dune buggie tour?? looks really cool how many people do they put into a buggie 2 or 4.

grand caymen island....we have done the sting ray tour before
we have used capt marvin and i have to say it was great:goodvibes
however, last time we went we rented a jeep we drove to "hell" (town)
and went to the turtle farm it was kind of cute however, my kids were not too interest:rolleyes1 . after that we drove to a place called:
red sail http://www.redsailcayman.com/gc_index.html it looked like paradise:cloud9: . we only stayed maybe an hour since we had to get back to the ship....it wasn't really crowded clean quiet just beautiful. jim wants to do this for our next trip.

not sure if jim and i are doing palo yet, i believe my ta said 60 days before you can book?? I think if we do anything, we might do a brunch.

Hi everyone,
I have not posted in so long!! Last night I was trying to book my hotel for the Friday night at the Country Inn and Suites ( because didn't everyone say it was only 100.00 per night?) ANyway, I could not find that deal, maybe all the lesser expensive rooms have booked up?! Is it really a big deal where one stays at Port Cavernal?? Is it a small enough place that it wouldn't really matter? It would be nice to find a hotel that had a shuttle to the boat. Does anyone have another suggestion? Is Cocoa Beach in the area? I was going to book it on Hotwire.com but you don't find out where you are staying until you pay and I didn't really know if it would matter or not where we stay.

Thanks everyone. I can't believe how fast this trip is coming up!!

Angie (room 2108...sorry Anty!)

Angie, In reference to hotels....I heard sometimes if you call the hotel directly sometimes you can get a better deal. Just ask for discounted rate such as AAA or business rate. Do you have any Amex or hotel chain points to cash in. That's how we are getting our room at the Residence Inn. Are you renting a car? If you are then you don't need to worry about shuttles from the hotel to the port.

Excursions - I can't decide what to do!!!!! :headache: We are thinking of doing the land ant stingray tour with Native Way, I read positive feedback on the thread. As for cozumel, my husband wants to do the dune buggy tour but I'm worried about the heat and my dd (8) and ds (6) not having fun. I also read that sometimes the buggy's are pretty beat up and can occasionally break down. My dd really wants to do dolphins but I know my ds can't do the swim. Someone help me too, I'd like to book something soon if I decide to do it on my own!!!!

Thanks a bunch. Also, thanks for the feedback on the spreadsheet!

-Joan

Hi everyone:)

Has any of my fellow Long Island, NY shipmates got their airfare yet? I'm starting to get a little nervous. Jet Blue and Southwest fares have not come out yet for April and the airlines on Expedia and Orbitz prices are insane and they also don't have any early morning flights out. ::surfweb:

I hate not having everything settled:sad2:

I have been checking Air Tran daily. Nothing yet. I guess we have to wait til Oct. or so. I wouldnt worry because we are going in the off-peak season and the prices shouldnt be that high. Knock wood.:confused3

Yeah, I'm not too concerned about the flights. Getting a flight to Orlando isn't exactly difficult (especially from NYC).

Does anybody know when the reservations open up for Castaway Club members? I think it's 90 days out, but I'm not sure specifically on what day that is. I know I've seen a web page out there that can determine it for you, but I lost the link. :sad2:

I hope you are right about the prices but many of the NY and NJ schools have off that week and I'm sure the airlines know that.

I have been checking Air Tran also. Are any of their flights non-stop?

I fly out of Westchester non-stop on Air Tran. Last 2 times I paid approx. $145.00 rt. Jet Blue also goes non-stop out of Westchester. I just keep checking everyday. Nothing yet, but as soon as I see something I will post it. :thumbsup2

Hello. Expedia is showing a RT fare of $184. today out of Westchester. However, if you go to the Air Tran site, they are not showing anything. So, I am guessing the Air Tran fares will be out in full sometime over the next couple of days. :thumbsup2

We live on Long Island and the closest airport to us that Air Trans flys out of is Laguardia. Unfortunately it looks like the do not fly non-stop from there so Air Tran may be out for us.

I was talking with my TA today and she said that jet blue and air tran have not released their fly times for April yet. She advised me to fly on another airline at $504 a round trip ticket from Stewart airport with a 2.5 hr layover in Philly. This doesn't sound right to me and I'll wait to see what else comes around.

I want to go non stop and from stewart airport - has anyone else flown from this airport during the month of April from this airport? When I was looking at their general fly time schedule all their flights were first thing in the morning to go to Orlando and the flight home from Orlando is in the morning also - which would not work because of when we can get off of the boat.
