April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

Hi all,

Not long now!!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Quick question for you. Since we now have these rolling coolers (found a really cool one at Walmart for only $20) are we allowed to roll them up to the pool with a few beers in them and just sit and enjoy them all afternoon? Or must they, as I suspect, stay in the stateroom?

Good morning...

I have a rolling cooler too. I am not going to bring my rollercooler to the pool, because we have a smaller one that might hold 4 bottles of beer/water we tend to purchase those special drinks on the ship:rolleyes1 & of course I won't drink too many :rotfl2:

since this is my 1st disney cruise :goodvibes I don't know if there would be enough room for the cooler maybe someone else who has been on this cruise could answer this. But, I have been on other cruise lines and sometimes they really cram the chairs in & you wouldn't have any room to put a rolling cooler. hth

MassDisLovers & Denise: Thanks for the well wishes for my GF. She had her 1st dose yesterday and did well.:thumbsup2

As for the rolling coolers at the pool. I have personally never brought a rolling cooler onboard, however I can verify that the chairs are squeezed in tight around the pools. There is barely enough room to put your legs to the side. It is good if you are out of the sun at a full table, but if you want to sit in the sun and drink a beer you should try going to the deck 7 "hidden" spot.
One of those fun little "secrets" is the Deck 7 aft verandah and Deck 8 aft overlook. These areas are rarely crowded and offer some nice relaxation.
If you want to see pics, just go to castawayclub dot com. I cannot put the actual address here because they will remove it. :confused3

Thanks for the answers on the rolling cooler. A smaller carrying cooler is a great idea and I already have one of those so it won't be another expenditure (see KC... I do think of you :rotfl2: )

Going out to the aft spots on decks 7 and 8 also is a great idea!!! I have a feeling we might spend a bit of time out there, eh, KC? :cool1:

Just heard this from DCL:
Disney Cruise Line

Corking Fee Increase

Effective immediately, Guests who request a Wine Steward to open and serve a bottle of champagne, wine or liquor brought onboard one of the Disney Cruise Line ships will be charged $18 per bottle (previously, the corking fee was $15 per bottle). Also, if a Guest opens a bottle in their stateroom and brings it into one of the dining rooms, they will still be charged the corking fee.

Policy for Bringing Alcohol/Beverages Onboard

It has been brought to our attention that there is some confusion about the Disney Cruise Line® policy on bringing alcohol/beverages onboard the ships. Disney Cruise Line does not prohibit Guests from bringing alcohol/beverages onboard, however, please be aware that any fragile items and beverages must be hand carried onboard in a day bag and/or carry-on (which cannot exceed 22” wide, 14” high and 9” deep). Please note that beverage coolers are not permitted onboard (they cannot be checked in or hand carried).

Great info! Thanks.

Is anyone taking anything other than US Dollars to spend in ports?

is anyone planning on doing the wine package that disney offers?

how does this work, do they give you certain wines every night or can you
chose from a list of what you want??

No. But I'm planning on bringing a bit of foreign currency back, if just for scrapbooking. I'm also planning on checking the exchange rate before I go just so I can keep track of how much things really cost before committing to a purchase. I just checked and $1US equals $10.624 pesos. So if I see something that I like that's 100 pesos it'd be nice to know we're really talking about less than $10.

Of course, in Grand Cayman I'll have to be careful. $1USD equals $0.82KYD so something that I think is $8.20 will actually be $10.

Also good to know.

We do the wine package on DCL cruises.

There were two different package-one "regular" and one "premium" wines.

You chose your package and charge it to your KTTW-you have 7 bottles (one for each night presumably) - if you don't finish it your server will put it away until the next night (or whenever you ask for it they will being it).

We find it easier since we always have wine with dinner anyway.
Also not a bad idea to split the package between 2 couples.

Oh no, change in packing plans, I guess we will have to bring an extra suitcase to fill with water and wine instead of our rolling coolers?

Hey everyone! Our computer got a virus and we have been without a computer for a few days. We have decided to put off getting another one since we had one (not hooked up before) for our daughter and because all of our extra dinero is going on VACATION with us IN 3 WEEKS!:cool1:  :woohoo: Can I hear an AMEN on this thread?

Anyhow, other than popping in and saying hi and reminding everyone that we are going on VACATION in 3 WEEKS, I am also posting a request for the following since I had them saved on our now defunct computer:

Mickey Ears for stateroom door and various accessories for the ears..one was a minnie bow, one was a sailor hat, one was a pirate hat, one flower, one socerror (not spelled right..sorry) hat etc. Does anyone have a file that they could send me or post here with this?

You can google mickey sailor hat and it usually shows up or go to disney-stationary dot com....they have the ears, sailor hat, princess hat, pirate hat and scorcer hat... havent found the flower yet. My daughter loves these... we have them all ready for our door... not long now!!

Picked my cruise docs up yesterday. Just finished my on-line check-in. Will print my door magnets later and now all I need is April 18th to be here!!!

Bahama Mama's here I come:banana:

Hi all,

Since we bought the cooler at Walmart the other day, I've been concerned today about the whole cooler and carry-on issue. I asked Shirley (have y'all met Shirley? She's the one that started the "Helpful Information for You" thread and if you haven't seen that thread you need to check the DCL forum for it becuase it's amazing). Anyway....... I double-checked with her. Now I still need to check the dimensions in my documentation from Disney, but I believe my cooler's going to work. Just wanted to share with you guys in case you were in a tizzy about this like I was.

Anyway... here's what Shirley said:

But are you understanding the DCL person to be saying that soft-sided coolers won't be allowed at all even if they fit the size limitations? Or are they still allowed as long as the size limitation is met? I'm just so confused. If I need to take this cooler back to Walmart and get a regular carry-on type suitcase I can do that.

Like I said... hope I'm not ticking you off. Just really want to understand. Maybe I'm just being stupid or my stupid crazy day around here is making me stupid, but I'm still confused.

OK lets take a step back AND NO YOU ARE NOT TICKING ME OFF SWEETIE HONEST NOW!!!!!!!!!!!

- ALL SOFT SIDED COOLERS WILL BE ALLOWED IF AND I MEAN IF THEY ARE THE ONES THAT CAN PASS THE XRAY MACHINES AT THE AIRPORT. You are allowed to bring beer, wine, sodas, water (NO FOOD) in your carryon so if you have this type of soft sided cooler, you will be fine - you are NOT allowed the hard kind and that will be disallowed - you will be just fine with what you have. hope you now can relax and enjoy getting ready for your awesome cruise
As always
Shirley

I
My GF that has the breast cancer starts chemo Mon. Send some prayers please. She had a bit of good news. It has not spread to any other part of her body. Just the lymph nodes in the surrounding area. It is really good news because they thought for sure it had gone to her bones or liver or ovaries, and it did not. So we are expecting the chemo to do its job and wipe it clean. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is doing well.
I cant wait to meet all of you. :grouphug:
Three more weeks, yeah.

Antoinette:flower3:

We will continue to keep your GF in our prayers. Chemo is tough, I can't imagine what she will be going through but I have seen it first hand. :grouphug:

The weather was beautiful here today! Spring is hopefully finally here! :flower3:

Yep.. spring has sprung! I wore a tank top to work today. And let me tell you... after the day I had today, I'm surely ready for this cruise!!!

Hey... I know there's an 800 number to call to find out what movies are playing while we're onboard but I can't find it. Does anyone have the number or has anyone called and can share this info?

BTW.... hope I didn't sound snitty or something about the roll on coolers. Just wanted to share the info I'd found out but DH says I sounded snotty or something. If I offended anyone, I apologize.

I figured I'd finally get a chance to see Enchanted and National Treasure 2. Cool! I hope to see Ratatoullie (sp?) as well. (I know... I haven't seen it yet.... does that mean I lose my Mickey Mouse club card now?). Do you know when/where these movies will be shown?
