April 19, 2008 - Western - VERY Early Roll Call - Anyone??!!

On my past Disney cruises I have seen very few men even wearing tuxes. Unless it is something you really want to do - I wouldn't worry about.
There are the few who wear what I would call traditional formal. You will see a few women in gowns but most just have on a nice dress. I see more people wearing what I would call semi-formal attire and yes you will even see people wearing jogging suits to dinner on formal night.

Thanks for that. That takes a bit of pressure off. So basically could he even just wear a shirt and tie on formal night? What about Palo? Would he need a jacket for there? He leaves all the worrying for me, he just shows up!

By the way, how lucky are you to be going on 2 cruises so close together? What is the second cruise, is it the Eastern?

Angie

Anybody making shirts for pirate night? I was thinking of making one for my DD7, she doesn't like anything scary. I did see a design on the creative board I may use. Never done this, any tips?

:yay: Hi Everyone, I was just on the DCL site and a couple of dinner ressies at Palo's is available. Just wanted to let those of you who were not able to get them before...

Just got a call from my TA and she said my Docs are in, come pick them up. 3 more weeks!
:cool1: :banana: :woohoo: :dance3::cheer2: :yay: party: :jumping1:

For Palo -At dinner, dress shirt or jacket are required for men; a dress or pantsuit for women. At brunch and high tea attire is "cruise casual" — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops.

At dinner in the main dinning room you will see people wear all different types of clothing.
My cruise on May 1st is a 3 night cruise on the Wonder

Any experienced cruisers give me an idea of how much alcoholic drinks are on the ship (you know...the frozen kind or bahama mamas, baybreezes, etc.) trying to get the spending money in order - have no idea what to bring!!!

Can't believe just 3 short weeks!!!!:cool1:

Joan, welcome back, hope everything is well. I'm thinking its crunch time now, have to do a lot of shopping for misc items. Two suitcases-I'm impressed, I think we are taking 5 plus wardrobe bag. I'll be packing next weekend, it will be interesting. The cruise pile keeps getting bigger.

5! Who's going to carry all those through the airport? I just told my husband that I didn't think we were bringing enough and he looked at me like this :scared1:

Does that include your carryons?

-Joan:scared1:

:Girl, we miss you too!!!! Hey, are you still looking at getting your computer next week? If you end up having any problem printing Tyler's thing, just let me know and I'll print it and slip it to you Fri @ Fishlips.

Thanks for the offer. :goodvibes

I better have a computer by next week. Please, don't get me started, I've been fighting with Best Buy everyday!

Next week my hubby goes to Chicago, I think we will have more information on if we have to move or not. I"M SO STRESSED!!! I've already started drinking! I NEED A VACATION!!! 3 WEEKS - YEAH!

5 is without carryon(backpacks) and probably cooler(for the water). We usually travel with 3-4 for our 10 day trips, so we are used to it. No need to worry, no lugging-curbside check in and cart to rental car. I'm hoping we will not need as many as I have planned for. Will get an idea next week. How do you pack for everybody in so little-we have 16prs of shoes to pack(at least)

Hope everything works out your way in Chicago.pixiedust:

Hi all,

We're trying to put together a general hour by hour plan for the week of the cruise. I know we have 2nd dinner seating so that'll be between 8 and 8:30 so I'm blocking out 8-10 for dinner every night. But breakfast and lunch -- do we have assigned seating for that? I don't remember seeing that but then again, if we don't, how do they make sure that the folks that sit at our table for early dinner seating don't show up at the same time as we do for breakfast and lunch? How does that work? I know... stupid questions but I'm being hyper again :rotfl2:

I'm with you - we'll have 5 bags, too. One each for me and the girls to pull along and 2 for DH. I really can't figure out how to do it with any less. We each need 9 days of clothing - multiple outfits/shoes for most days, swimsuits and other beach/pool thing, toiletries, dress up clothing, all the stuff I'm convinced we must have for the cabin, the list goes on and on! I do pack one bag with everyone's toiletries, pajamas and outfit for Saturday so we don't have to open up every single suitcase on Saturday morning, then I'll do the same when we leave the ship since we're not flying home until Sunday.

I'm open to suggestions if anyone can tell me how to reduce! :confused3

You only sit at "your " table for dinner. Breakfast and lunch are served in Topsiders (buffet) which is open seating or in one of the dining rooms if you want a more leisurely meal. You can also eat up on the pool deck and the"fast food" type places for lunch. If you want to eat breakfast or lunch in the dining room, you are seated as you arrive. You will not be at your assigned table, and more than likely you'll be seated at a table with other people. We've had some very nice meals and conversations with peole we've met at breakfast and lunch.

These aren't stupid questions at all - they're asked every day on the main boards - you just got to ask your friends the questions! :grouphug:

Yeah, that's definitely true! Can't wait to meet you guys!!! That's kind of how I thought it was but we weren't sure. Thanks for such a quick answer!

Hey there all....

Just found something in my Passporter newsletter I thought I'd share with everyone. Many of you returning cruisers might know this but it was news to me so I thought I'd share.

SPLENDID SHOWERS
"As a cruise passenger, you have complimentary use of the on board fitness center, but you don't have to be workout junkie to enjoy the facilities! While most staterooms have split bathrooms, they don't have more than one shower. If you are running late for that reservation at Palo because your significant other is taking too long in the shower (or you just want to indulge yourself), you can use the showers in the fitness center/spa. These are not your typical health club communal showers... These are the finest showers traveling the seven seas! The water pressure is much better than in the staterooms, and there is a lot more room. The men's locker room attendant on the Wonder advised me to use the shower on the far right, with the waterfall spout. It was the best shower of my life! I will go back at least once on every future cruise! Make sure to get a locker as they come stocked with flip flops and a bathrobe."

I have not even started thinking about packing. We are very light packers. :confused3

3 pairs of shoes per person, 1 garment bag with dress clothes, and 2 suitcases (1 for DH & I, 1 for the 2 kids). Plus each kid brings a backpack on the plane with their "stuff" (i-pods, DS's, books, etc.) and DH carries on 1 small bag. We also pack a backpack that is empty for goodies we buy. :thumbsup2

Dont overpack! I always read on the boards, "pack your bags, and then take half of the stuff out". That seems to make sense.

Hi Everyone!

Denise, thanks fo that info. I just have to say that even though this will be our third disney cruise, there is ALOT of stuff I'm just learning! We had just found out about this board in Jan. and VERY GLAD we did!!! WE ARE GETTING CLOSER TO VACATION!!!! BTW, us northern people are pretty sick of this SNOW!!! (just had some snow squalls this morning!):scared1:

HAPPY PACKING EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

I'm starting to think two is unrealistic. I think I need a suitcase for just all my stuff. I probably need one for toiletries, one for the kids and one for the hubbby. Unless I can somehow combine my husbands with the kids? Oh, yeah, and I need a garmet bag. Boy, it adds up! My husband is in for a rude awakening!

I am hoping to have only 4 suitcases and 2 carry on. 1 garment bag, 1 shoe and toiletries suitcase, and 2 regular suitcases. I hope we don't need to take a 5th. There will be no room left in the rental car.:goodvibes I have only started to think of what we need. The kids need alot of new clothes. They are growing like weeds. Especially my son. He needs a new suit too but I'm waiting for a sale. At least he will be able to use it again for graduation. ;) My husband and I are pretty much set, just need a few odd and ends and my daughter is pretty much set too. I am getting soooooo excited. I am going to pick up my docs at the TA tomorrow and on monday do my online checkin and print my door magnets. Only 3 more weeks!!!

One more stupid question for me to ask my buddies :grouphug: I remember reading that the character breakfast is assigned based on your dining rotation? Or is it on a certain morning (i.e., same for everyone)? I'm so confused!!! :confused3 (what else is new :yay: ). Anyway... when is the character breakfast and how does it work? Just want to make sure I put it in our planner as appropriate.

Thanks!

What will you be doing at this time 3 weeks from now? As it's currently 12:51 I expect to be onboard having lunch somewhere ... probably on the deck at Topsiders!!! :cool1:  :cool1:

I think your character meal is the first sea day after your first night at Animators Palatte so you really won't know what day it will be until you board and get your dinner rotation.
