April 18, 2010 - 4 night Wonder

Carrie - thanks for sharing your story. Wow, I can't imagine how exhausting all that must be. I hope you all can get some real R&R on the Wonder!

BTW, not sure if you meant it as a question or just a comment, but I saw your concern about Southwest airlines. My sister has had some issues with them too (along with that musician, although sis didn't get the attention of national media! :). I don't know the details exactly. But I think you should call MAW and discuss it with them - I am totally sure they and/or Southwest would work it out and much better to get that done now than on a Saturday morning when you arrive at the airport, run into a problem, and can't get anyone on the phone because it's Saturday! Just MHO.

See you soon!

Add us to the group. I am sorry I am jumping in on this so late but we will have 9 cruisers on the April 18th sailing. Myself and DH, DS-14, DS-11, DD-10, DS-4. My friend and her two children are also joining us. She has DS-13 and DD-12. We will be spread out in three cabins.

This will be our second DC.

Anyone planning on doing fish extenders?

We have booked late dinner seating.

Is there a certain place to go and find art for printing on magnetic paper?

Thanks, I can't wait!!!!

We have never done an excursion in Nassau, so I'm no help there. However, Nassau is pretty easy to do on your own. If you really want to do the Atlantis water park, I would suggest looking into getting a reservation at Comfort Suites. If you have a room there, you have full access to everything at Atlantis and it would probably be a lot less expensive than doing the DCL excursion. You can check in and check out, all at the same time and never even go to your room. They will give you what you need to get the wristbands at Atlantis. A taxi to/from the port is $4 per person each way and they are plentiful, both at the port and at Atlantis.

Not to scare you, but if you do go off on your own, be sure to stay in "touristy" areas. They have had a spike in crime there in the past few months, so like anywhere else, you need to be aware of what is happening around you. Also - be sure to be back on the ship before the departure time that will be listed in the Navigator. The ship will not wait for anyone not on a DCL excursion. The ship is a pretty sight as she sails away, but not if you're supposed to be on board.

Carrie - I just read it as well. It sounds like things are somewhat back to normal for you all, and I'm sure this will be a really special vacation.
Oh, booking at the Comfort Suites for access to Atlantis is a great tip! I was looking at the cost of the different excursions there, and they are so expensive. Will doing this give all four of us access then?

Welcome! My crew will be excited to hear that there will be others their age aboard! There are 4 of us: DD:13, DS:11, and DS:9!

Comfort Suites allows up to 4 guests per room, so you should be able to have access to Atlantis for all 4 of you. I agree that the DCL excursion prices are very expensive. We did the tour of the aquarium/dig on our own a few years ago for less than $40 per person, however that did not include access to any of the water/beach activities.

Thank you! I agree with you completely, I will be contacting MAW today to see what they suggest ;)

Welcome Aboard!!

As far as I know, no one has organized a FE gift exchange.

You might want to take a look at this thread for magnet ideas:

I can use some good thoughts and happy wishes. I have an appointment to see my orthopedic surgeon tomorrow after work. I have been dealing with a sore shoulder since the first big snowstorm we had the week before Christmas this past winter. I can't lift my left arm more than halfway and if I try to go any farther, I have severe pain. After just having the total knee replacement surgery last June, the last thing I want is to have another operation so soon. I'm "hoping" physical therapy might do the trick.

Welcome! My DD10 will be SO excited to have others her age!

27 days! I can hardly stand it!!!!

Here's best wishes and some pixie dust Andy!! pixiedust: Like you, I hope they can get you "all better" with some PT. Do you think shoveling all that snow did you in?

Well..... we have a slight change of plans for after we leave the ship! I found out last week that the place we had reserved is doing pool maintenance starting on the day we get off the ship and were supposed to check in. Since DS "loves" his pool time, that is just NOT going to work!!

So....... DW did some checking around about staying at one of the WDW resorts, but none of the ones we like was available when she was checking over the weekend. Just for grins, I checked again this morning and low and behold, I was able to grab a lagoon view room at the Polynesian using the current discount program they are offering! There weren't any rooms showing available there over the weekend, and DW even called to be sure of that (unless we wanted a $1400 per night suite - I don't think so!).

Now we are really excited about this trip! We love the Poly and can't wait to go back!

Outahere - that is great about the Polynesian! I spent a few days there with my family (mom, dad, siblings) in March, 1972 - just 5 months after it opened. Then I made my second visit last April with my newer family (husband, kids). I couldn't believe that it seemed basically the same (with some modern upgrades of course, but same vibe)! We had SUCH a good time and I think that's the only reason I was able to convince DH to take the cruise - he has faith in Disney now!

We have only stayed there once (for a week, that time) but we loved it. We have toured all of the deluxe resorts and stayed at WL and the villas at WL a few times, but the Polynesian is definitely our favorite!

Now I'm not sure which part of the trip has us more excited! :dance3:

Thats wonderful. I  the Poly although I haven't been able to swing staying there yet! One of these days...

We're getting to be a decent size group arent' we. Outahere did you put together a list? I'd love to see everyone listed out :dance3:

It was either that, or one of the four times I fell down in the snow and ice while reading meters. It's a pain aging!!! :lmao:

Congrats on getting a room at the Poly Ed!!!

We changed our night, before the cruise, plans. We are now going to be using my mom's car and will be staying at her place and drive to the port on Sunday morning and parking at the port. This way we will be able to spend some time with my mom before and after the cruise. :goodvibes

The main reason we decided to splurge (some more) and grab the room at the Poly is because we're celebrating our 20th anniversary and our DS's 16th birthday. Both are in May, but this was the only week we could get away. Pretty important dates so...... what the heck :rolleyes1.

As for the list.... so far I only have the info for four families (including us) so I'm just putting everything into a small Excel worksheet.

For all of you newer additions to our little group - if you would like me to include you on the list that I'll pass out at our DISmeet the day we board, please either PM me (I think you need a minimum of 10 posts on the DIS before you can use PM) or send me an email to ersimpson@charter.net, with names of all the people in your cabin (please include your DIS username if you send email), ages of any kids, your cabin number (if you want that on the list) and any events you are celebrating on the cruise.

Our thoughts are with you! I hope PT will do the trick for you. We're sending positive vibes your way :)

We're a lot bigger group than I thought!

I just finished updating the list with all the info I received since yesterday, and our "little" group isn't so little anymore!

We're up to 39 people!!!

Thanks to all for sending me your info!

Arrived home a few minutes ago. I have to call tomorrow to schedule an MRI, my surgeon is rather sure we are dealing with a rotator cuff tear, but wants me to have an MRI to confirm this. If, this is the case, I am looking at another surgery, but "NOT" until "AFTER" my birthday cruise!!! My body can fall apart, but I am not missing this cruise, I have my priorities!!! LOL!!! ;)
