April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Hey Amy,

Thank you for sharing your photos. You look like you were having a great night and an unforgetable birthday.

I saw him a "long" time ago. I'll be 43 this month. When I saw him I was between 16 - 18.

He does put on a great show.

Have you enticed your eldest yet to join the tween site??

Donna

I just turned 46:eek: not sure how that happened, lol. Can't quite get Matti to post. I have the site bookmarked and have read some of them to her, so hopefully I can get her to join. She is going into 5th grade and has always been clingy. Last cruise I couldn't get her into the kids club for even a minute. The last night when I went to pack we peeked in and they were doing Flubber and even then she would not go in. Afterwards though, she wish she would have at least tried it as some friends at her school went on a cruise and their daughter(an only child) absolutely loved having kids to play with. I would really like to have some "me" time this cruise... not alot of it, but an hour here or there and I think it would be good for her to be away from me a bit too. Literally she will not walk to the next isle at walmart without me 2 feet from her. We know it is a problem and are working on it. She will be 11 in October and although I love having a momma's girl, I also need her to feel confident in herself. She goes to a small catholic school, so she is really used to being in a very secure environment.

I have always gone to Disney in November and paid between $180-$210 per person for airfare. I sure wish prices were out for us now, very impatient here!!!

We have the two nights after the cruise booked at Universal Studios. It just now occured to me that it is Easter weekend! Uh-oh! Since we will be checking out Saturday and driving home, we won't get home until sometime Sunday. Easter!!

Looks like we'll be missing Easter Mass this year. Wow, this is freaking me out. My kids (and myself!) have never been anywhere but home on the mornings Santa or the Easter Bunny visits!

My DS really was hesitant to post on the tween board--he also goes to a small school--sometimes it's hard to meet new kids, he's been with the same kids pretty much from kindergarten. I sat with him and kinda walked him through the first post or 2 and he was sooo excited when he received a reply. Now he and Gabby are 'gabbin' away. I think he finds it easier because it's a message board so he can erase what he writes if he thinks it sounds 'corny'. Now when he comes home, he checks the board first-- for a reply or someone new to say 'hi' to.

Hey Bridget,

Tell Jacob "corny" is great and Gabby (the gabbin' girl) checks constantly to see if Jacob, Bailey, or even one of the other girls (like Scootch's Matti) has posted.

She is super excited. We seem to have a few things in common, one of them being I hear is musician husbands. :rockband: (The life of a roadie many years ago.)

I personally can completely empathize with Jacob and Scootch's Matti. I grew up going to parochial school from K-8 with the same 25 kids. It becomes pretty insular. My first year in public school for 9th grade became a whole new world. I've only become a little more outgoing from my husband's personality.

Scootch, maybe if Matti just posts a Hi :wave2:, she'll see how quickly everyone responds back :grouphug: and how easy everyone ends up making it for her by asking her questions.

Donna :)

Hey everybody :wave2: !

Called SW about an hour ago. The Customer Service lady said that on October 5th they will be opening the dates from March 12th - June something. Can't remember the June date. Was way to excited :jumping2: that the April dates we all need are in the span.

Just wanted to share good news. :dance3: ( And yes, sad but true, I probably look like those three smiley guys when I dance.)

Awesome news--I was wondering when they were releasing April fares

:thumbsup2

:bday: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :) :jumping1:

Yes :bday:

We're the same age. I'll be 46 in January!

Ugh! I kinda wish SW had waited until November. I need more time for saving airfare money.

I just opened a Chase checking account to get my Disney debit card. So at least I'll be earning Disney Dollars when I buy the airfare. :)

VA is famous for lots of cops and HUGE ticket summons (over $1,000 :scared1::scared1:) - do NOT rush in VA. ;)

::yes:: I live in VA, and agree 100%. We aren't allowed to have radar detectors, so you must be careful! Whenever we drive to NC it's always comical to cross the state line when coming home. Welcome to Virginia! Then the signs "speed limit enforced by aircraft, no littering, no radar detectors," blah, blah blah. Quite a slap in the face I think, from welcoming to "here are the rules, now behave yourself!" ;)

Thanks for the bday wishes. Seems like yesterday I was 30.

Thanks for the southwest info. Gives me a date to obsess about! I am so ready to book airfare. Airtran keeps teasing me as they have April on their scroll down box, but no flights listed yet for April. Kids love the idea of going to MK on Thursday even if it will be busy, so going to look for a late flight home. We already have some old tickets nonexpiring ones, so wont' cost me anything more now and will actually probably be cheaper than taking the bus back to the airport to rent a car for the day.

The Tag Fairy is still around and was last seen last month and again in June. So you never know when one of your clever or silly or strange sayings will show up as a tag.

Jill, do you by any chance watch Project Runway? Its one of my guilty pleasures and I am just loving a woman on the show (Peach) who comes up with these one liners that literally have me :rotfl2:.

Last night was primo! When questioned about the length of the skirt she was designing for her model, she said it was going to be short, but not short enough that the model would be "showing the good china". Some of these poor models have had to wear outfits of questionable length, so that just had me howling. Perhaps a tag line in the making?

Love the tween board... sshhhh... Gabby and Jake are just too cute. Still trying to get Matti to post there!!!

OMG Scootch, your books are wonderful and your girls are just too cute!

I switched to digital scrapbooking but of course I never have enough time to scrap as many books as I'd like too. I am now officially INSPIRED :thumbsup2

And I'm still on airfare watch. The Southwest date is not to far off. We prefer to fly out of Newark but will do Long Island if the price is right!

Amy,

Kudos on your scrapbooks. Your photos are awesome. I know I mentioned it when you first post pics of your girls but, they are two cuties :cutie:. You have caught some very nice candids with all the wildlife and the girls.

It seems that you may spend your vacations they same way I do; behind the lense of a camera.

Did you use a disposable water camera or do you have one of the new waterproof cameras for all the Atlantis & Discovery Cove photos?

Good luck with the compilation of your mom's recipes. I am sure that the collection will become a treasured item in your families' homes and become something that is passed down.

Thanks for the compliments on the books. If it were not for shutterfly, I would be so far behind on my pictures but it is so easy and they print so wonderfully, that I really enjoy doing them. I would love to figure out digital photography, my husband's tech guy for the school even downloaded an older version of Photoshop on our computer, but I have never figured out how to use it.

Yes, I just used a disposable underwater camera at atlantis, but loved it, so I am looking to buy a real one for this coming trip, probably will be my Christmas present this year. I even just took the rest of the Atlantis pictures with my youngest dd's kodak digital camera as I didn't want to risk losing my better Canon camera at Atlantis. I did find the lockers just before we left there, so this time I won't be so worried about my stuff. They are very close to the pool area.

The problem with this cruise is it is Easter break for many of us in the USA and the ship has met its maximum kids for the kids club. You may get lucky to snag it if you keep checking and just happen to be online when someone might have cancelled it that has kids. I cancelled and rescheduled my last cruise twice,:rolleyes1 so there is still a chance.

Scootch, your books are fabulous. You must take tons of pictures!
I love Shutterfly, but I have never done one of their books. I may have to give it a try now.

My Matt is in the process of getting his DIS ID approved, so he should be on the tween board soon, too, I hope.

Don't you just love Shutterfly??? I made up a book for my dd last spring..it covered her first two years in high school. She loves it. Just put one together for our two week trip to WDW this summer. It is so easy to use their site...and it's sooooo much better than working with the actual photos. I love digital photography and the terrific sites to work with.
