April 17, 2011 on the Dream

Six now. ;) Our anniversary is 8/24. We will celebrate 14 years in just a few weeks. Time flies!

Awwwww we just missed the cut!!! 16 years July 17th, oh well:laughing: I have just semi-sucked my husband into my addiction (is that even a word?)

Congratulations to you all! It is a big achievement!

I think I need to haul out some pictures of our last cruise today.:wizard:

I think I would have real trouble knowing there was a Disney ship in a port so close to me. Honestly I had some real trouble "coming down" from our last cruise. There was an infant with colic next door to us and with no sleep I was trying so hard to do lots of things that I didn't want to get off the ship. Not that I ever do! I wanted so bad to suck every moment dry (you know even just laying by the adult pool) but honestly I was exhausted! It did turn out that I was severely anemic. Anyway for days afterward I went though like a depression and withdrawal. I kept thinking, "snap out of it you are supposed to be an adult!" I think booking your next cruise on board may help this. The Disboards also help me a lot, I look at the trip reports sometimes and feel like I went on their trip with them! Goofy huh?

I do the exact same thing. I never want to leave and I'm just not myself for a week or so after...I just miss that ship so much. I also read the trip reports and vacation vicariously.:hippie:

I am so in the same boat (pun pun pun) There is a very close local airport and a direct flight on jet blue to Orlando. Trouble is they haven't even opened up their schedule that far yet. I did wrangle enough points for two flights through a cc offer but spring break is hard to get. Good luck to you:cheer2:[/QUOTE]

WPoohGirl: Are you talking about the Newburgh Airport? I live in Fairfield County CT, so if anyone sees flights out of::
1. JFK
2. LGA
3. Newburgh
4. Westchester or
5. Hartford

Please let me know so I can book asap. I will do the same for others if I see something quick. I'm on Airfarewatchdog but am wondering if Kayak or another service is better.

Also - WPoohgirl, I have a DD, 11 as well so I'm sure we'll all get to meet each other on the boat.

Thanks Everyone!

Yes SWF, Stewart airport in Newburgh. Jet Blue goes nonstop to Orlando, great flight you are there in about 2.30-2.45 hours depending on the tailwind. It is the best flight. Since I do not like to fly much anymore (bad flight, story for another time!) the tv's really distract me and love the extra leg room. Airtran has some good flights out of White Plains but the parking there is really expensive. It was like 22. per day last time I was there. Also although their rate looked good you have to pay for the seating and luggage so by the time I was done it was not such a good deal...

I get direct mail from JetBlue so I will post as soon as it opens up. I book right away and if the price lowers they will give you a credit. Since I have mega points with JetBlue I am pretty sure I will wait to see what they offer.

We will be sailing with friends in April. Children include: 2 girls (15, 14) and 3 boys (12, 11, 11). They (especially the girls) would love to connect with others their age that will be on the ship. Any suggestions?

One thing that made a big difference for our kids was going to their respective "kids' club" area right away, especially the first organized get-together. That way, your kids will start the cruise knowing all the other kids in the group, rather than coming in later as a "newcomer" and trying to join in with kids who have already formed frienships. (Hope what I'm trying to convey makes sense.)

One advice: Facebook :grouphug: if other children on this cruise are interested, they can add each other to their friends list and get to know each other prior to our cruise.
Our DD is 9. She loves Webkinz. Anybody else? It is usually a great breaking point for kids her age :wizard:

I'd love the idea (since my daughter is also 15; here in neighboring CT). How about a teen forum on the disboards? We could get them all registered and start chatting and/or facebook.... not sure how "safe" all this might be....

I'm sure you cruise pros might have a better idea :idea:than this rookie though since I have no idea how to go about this :upsidedow

I think my daughter may have started a thread for teens on the Disney Cruise Meets for 4/17.

Hi TeachNJ,

I checked but didn't see it listed anywhere. I'm sure it's right in front of me but I still have disney dust in my eyes

Can you shoot us the link please? If she didn't create it yet, let us know please and we'll start one immediately! :cool1:

Thanks!

Sounds like a great idea.

As the cruise gets closer, we could schedule a live chat for them even in the chat rooms.

Can we do something like a facebook page also for the 12 year olds? My 12 year old DS is the gregarious one. My 15 year old DS is the sulky teenager.

But your right about going to the first teen get together. Last cruise my sulky teen had a close group and some of them still facebook to this day~!

Can't seem to find it....O_o Perhaps you can start one????

Ok, the sulky one helped me start one off of my page. He wouldn't do it off of his page and I'm not facebook literate.

They need to be logged into facebook before clicking on this link. I figured we would prefer it to be closed so I will accept anyone who asks to join but their first 'post' message whatever should be the word: aquaduck

4/17/11 Teen Disney Dream Cruise Facebook Group

If a teen wants to step forward and be a group administrator so I can bow out, let me know.

If this works I'd like to set up one for the tweens too.

Hey everyone!

Okay, I know I haven't posted in awhile, but wanted to let you know that I am lurking and anxiously awaiting any group decisions on meets, etc. I've been working on FE gifts and have a good reserve going for peeps who decide to join up in the next 8 weeks, so I can focus on my upcoming Masters class (starts Tues.):teacher:

Please keep sharing, I'll be lurking and checking in as my guilty pleasure on study breaks. :surfweb: And day dreaming of riding the Aquaduck...

Elizabeth
