April 16 2005? Eastern Magic? 4/16/05

Hi guys

Sorry I haven't been around in a while. Work has kept me busy.

I have booked airfare. We will be flying in on Friday night and staying at the Hyatt. We'll get in about 9:30 so it shouldn't be too bad. Flying out we leave at 3:50 and get to albany about 11:00. This should make for a long day. We got the airfare for ~280 through Travelocity. Things seemed to be filling quickly so we took it.

We got our Hyatt ressie too. We booked the family package for Me, DW, DD, DS and MiL and FiL. One room was $152 (AAA). The scond room was a family package for 82.50. Unfortunately we have to pay $50 extra for 2 additional adults. We still saved some but not as mucha as I thought. We will keep looking though.

How is everyone else.

David

:) Good to hear from you all!

Wow, DavidOh...I haven't got my airfare yet...guess, I better get a move on:hyper: We will probably be staying at the Embassy Suites Friday before cruise. We stayed there last time we cruised and enjoyed the free shuttle and full breakfast.

I am still lurking over at the cruise boards to try and figure out if we should do some excursions or just hit the beachs. ??

Anyone have excursions or plans already?

Hi everyone. We just booked the April 16, 2005 Western cruise last week. It will be myself, dh and dd 13(well 14 at sailing). This will be our first cruise:Pinkbounc I'm still surprised that first seating for dinner was booked. I had us put on the waitlist for early seating, but I'm not holding out much hope in that regard.

Anyone have any advice for first-time cruisers? Any other cruisers from WV sailing April 16th?

Toni

Hi Toni

Welcome aboard. I too am a first timer so I won't be much help giving you advice. This cruise filled up rather quickly since many schools are taking their spring break around this time instead of around Easter in 2005. I assume that is why you go late seating. Friends of mine were given late seating when they booked in early April.

BTW. This cruise is an Eastern Carribean Cruise.

Have a great day

Hello Toni,
I have been on 4 other cruises but I wouldn't consider myself and expert. My wife and I have been to both St. Thomas and St. Marteen before. We have never sailed Disney so I don't know anything about the ship other than the information that I have gathered from this sight and others. If you are adventuresome, I would suggest taking excursions on your own but do keep in mind you have to be back on the ship on time or the boat will leave you. I believe that both of these islands can be done on your own at a much cheaper cost. If you have any questions, just post on this board and I am sure that you will get some good advice.

Gosh, I knew it was an Eastern cruise. I have no idea why I wrote Western in my message. Starting to get old, I guess. lol

Our spring break is the week of April 16th also, which is why we chose this week to cruise. We decided back in March(when the prices were about $500 cheaper) to go on a cruise next spring, but had to wait til the school board decided on next year's calendar so we could book for spring break week. Of course they didn't post the calendar until after the school year ended.

As this is our first cruise, and first time out of the country, dh is a little timid about us exploring the islands on our own, although I think this would be the way to go. I do know that a lot of the excursions Disney offers will be off limits to us since dh gets motion sickness extremely easy(anything that involves a trip in a small boat is off limits) and since dd was stung by a portugese man of war a few years ago she doesn't want a thing to do with snorkling or even getting into water over her ankles. lol

We're all looking forward to the cruise though. This will be the longest 10 months of my life. :)

You can read people's trip reports, especially those for the Eastern cruise to get a lot of insight and tips. I was on the April school vacation Eastern this year. There were a lot of people from New England (including me). The CMs were joking about the state of Massachusetts being empty with everyone on board...

Hi everyone!

Hope your all having a great summer! just about 9 more months to go!!:bounce:

Well, I finally got the airline tickets to MCO! and working on hotel and rental car.

How is everyone?

Hi all,
Please add us to the list - me, DH, DD11 and DS6. We were on the Wonder lat Nov and loved it so much we want to do it again!!

We are in Cat 9, booked with DU early and got a great rate. We requested late dining as we are late owls.

Been keeping my eyes on airfare, but looks like I missed the 331 days mark and will pay dearly for it!!

HI Sue-

I have a 12 yr old daughter and 3 yr old son who are very much looking forward to our April cruise! I am looking forward to it also, we had such a great time on our last Disney Cruise! but not looking forward to the 6 or 7 hr flight from San Diego:tongue: heh, heh!

We also have a Cat 9 and booked with DU...our room is 2114. We had 2500 on the last cruise.

we also just booked our flights. We are coming in Friday night around midnight. Not sure where to stay. Considering staying close to the airport and finding someplace with a shuttle to take us back to the airport to catch the transfer.

Just for the record, we are leaving for a week at disney in 3 weeks.

hi everyone. we had to postpone our trip. now we are going on the 12/17/2005 western cruise.

have a great time everyone

Bite the bullet and booked airfare with Delta. Going down 4/13 and coming back 4/24. Paying 265 pp, $15 more than I want to pay but am afraid it just gonna keep going up and up.

Made ressie at BCV for before and after the cruise.

Also found a nice dress (on sale) for formal night, so I got 3 things down this week!!

We're on our way!!

Sue

:bounce: Wow! I just checked w/Disney for availability for our April 16th cruise (we where thinking of upgrading to a Cat 6) and only Cat 4 is available at a GTY (means, you are quaranted a room at the 4 Cat level or higher) Everything else was sold out!

Looks like we are sailing on a full to capacity ship:crazy: I was really surprised to find it sold out at 8 months out.

Hope everyone is having a great summer! just thought I would share the news

Stephanie:D

It must be a very full ship. We have two connecting cat 6 rooms that both can sleep four. When we originally made the reservation it was for 7 of us. We just tried to add one more to our rooms and couldn't do it because of capacity. Wow!

Hope everyone had a great summer!! It actually still feels like summer here in :sunny: San Diego...it's 100 degrees this afternoon! I am ready for a little winter:rolleyes:

Has anyone secured a hotel before the cruise? or how about transportation? I am still kinda looking into those two. We might end up renting a car to port and then using a towncar service to take us from Port to Disney then back to MCO.
