April 14, 2007 Eastern Cruise!

I e-mailed our travel agent yesterday asking her about when we should expect our cruise documents and I got an e-mail back from her saying that she called DCL to inquire about it. DCL said that they were printed up just today that we should be receiving them in the next few days!

Paperwork/docs should be coming in for all of us soon...Whoo hoo!

Since I am a first time cruiser who better to ask than all of you. My DD and I are traveling with my parents, but we are booked on seperate ressies (two seperate rooms). With this tipping that goes on at the end of the week, will I be expected( maybe not the right word) to pay the recommended amount for both my daughter and myself or is thier a lower child recommended rate? I hope that isn't confusing, but everything I read says per person. So I guess I am just trying to clarify is per person meaning adult and children. I want to be able to tip the right amount, but I also want any extra money to go towards the fun!!

On a side note, my lime green shirts from zazzle came today.:yay:

I always tip the same rate even if it is a child. IMHO

Check out this tip calculator

http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/

This is a box to take out full tip for a child if you are interested.

I usually end up tipping more than recommended depending on service

My experience on my cruise in February was I "wanted" to tip the full amount and would have if a child had been traveling with me. The service was excellent and our room hostess went over and above what was needed to make us comfortable.

We are cruising again on this cruise and am looking forward to the same great service.

I would like the black boarder taken off too. Maybe we should ask on the creative board?

The person who set this up with the lime green/red/and black colors is AMY.
She seems VERY talented.
She has here own threat on the creative board.

Email her and she'll change it so everyone can see on her page.

Before you do this, how do we want it set up?
Take the red out too?

Jeff

I wanted to bring our hostess home! She was so wonderful. On the last night of the cruise she made sure I had enough extra of the little chocolate pillow mints to take home that I can still have one before bed now! If I can just hold them out a few more weeks....maybe I can get another stash...LOL!

Anyway, I think that you will most likely want to tip at least the minimum suggested amount. I suppose the relationship you have with the host/hostess is very individual...but we just really had a great time with ours.

Thanks so much for the opinions. I wasn't sure which way to go, but from everything I have heard I figured that I would end up tipping more anyway. I have no problems with paying for my daughter as an equal, because I know that hopefully the servers will give her more attention ( if you know what I mean) than they will with us. I hope this didn't come across that I was stingy or anything, just wanted to be clear on it. We are going all out for this cruise.

We both are looking forward to meeting all of you soon. No school tomorrow, so let the packing begin!!!

We'll try to stop by at the meeting and say hello. We got our luggage tags and what nots today. Getting excited now, can't wait.  :woohoo: :yay:

The shirts came out good. We had Sorcerer Mickey on the front with Magical Memories written underneath. We put our first names on the back. The only thing that I forgot to check was that anything white comes out the color of the shirt so MIckeys gloves are lime green. But the image looks good anyway. My DD loves it and can't wait to wear it.

popcorn:: Hello all you Eastern Caribbean cruisers... I've never posted to this board before, but after reading, I'm compelled to ask a few questions...

I've been lurking for a while now, and we (me and my family) will also be on the Eastern cruise. We're HUGE :earsboy: Disney fans and having lived in South Florida for many, many years, I can't even count the amount of times we've been to the "World" or been on a cruise to the Caribbean. Alot of you have been planning this for a while now (I think the first call out was back in 2005). Anyway, I have some questions, and please, don't take any of this the wrong way, I'm just a bit curious...

Q1) How can you stand it, waiting for almost two years to go on this cruise? I'd be crawling the ceiling by now... It would almost be anti-climactic.

Q2) Whatever happened to spontaneity? Does anybody believe in leaving anything to chance? Sometimes, the best expeiences are the ones that are UNplanned. Reading some of the post, it seems like alot of you have already planned what dessert you're having on the third night at exactly 7:36:27 PM. Don't get me wrong, I love to plan things out, but I like to leave a bit of it to plain, good 'ol fashion luck...

Q3) All of the information that are on these boards, (i.e. Your names and where you're from and the names and ages of your kids) Plus the fact that you'll have all this information displayed on your stateroom doors... Personally, I'd be afraid. Now, I'm no freak or anything, but you don't know me, and these boards are wide open, and anyone could be reading. Maybe I'm just scared of what I see in the news these days, but IMHO, I'd try to be as anonymous as possible. I know that this is Disney and all, but scary people are everywhere.

Anyway, I'm really excited for this cruise, and I'm sure it will be lots of fun, and I'm not trying to be mean or anything, just speaking my mind and getting the word out there... See you all on the 14th... I'll be looking for all the Lime Green shirts....
:hippie:

OOh...Now I wanna get out of here and get home to see if mine are there!!

Of course, I am the crazy person who has the CD of music in the Sail Away party (just before the countdown...which is actually the stop music from the Tokyo Disneland Mickey Mania parade...but I digress) to get in the mood...

Since I'm def. one of the posters who date back to 2005, I could answer this. I'm not in the position to go on a cruise every year. Booking far in advance saves a ton of money on DCL. I find anticipating a vacation is part of the fun of having one. We're all built differently.;) My mother loves to lay out her clothes for vacations way ahead in the spare room. I can't stand packing and put it off until the last minute.

Q2) Whatever happened to spontaneity? Does anybody believe in leaving anything to chance? Sometimes, the best expeiences are the ones that are ....

Totally agree! We booked no excursions and are winging it. Although, I'm nervous about the ferry in St. John. Little more than anticipation for me on the planning as one of my little guys is autistic. I try and remove obstacles for him as life is difficult enough for him.

If you go back you'll notice that we all disclosed varying degrees of info. Some feel more comfortable (or spontaneous :) ) than others and nobody has pushed. Personally, I wasn't going to put our actual names on the shirts, for instance. But usernames would have been fine.:confused3

Anyway, I'm really excited for this cruise, and I'm sure it will be lots of fun, and I'm not trying to be mean or anything, just speaking my mind and getting the word out there... See you all on the 14th... I'll be looking for all the Lime Green shirts....
:hippie:

Don't you mean lurking for all the lime green shirts?;) Nothing you said was mean and I hope you step out of your shadow to say hello to us lime green shirters or show up at the cruise meet.

~Sincerely, .....a former serial lurker myself. Really!

My family has been planning this vacation since last April 2006. We needed the year to save for the trip. I've been on the Disboards every day reading the dismeets, trip reports, Dis questions etc. What a let down it'll be once the cruise is over. :sad2: I think I can seriously say that I've got a Disboard addiction. I feel like I'm missing out on something if I don't take a peak every day. :surfweb: I know....it's pathetic. All I'm hoping for out of this vacation is a great time with my family, to finally meet our Dis friends, eat yummy food, drinks delicious cocktails and most important to get through vacation without any of us getting sick

The weather in Florida and in the Caribbean has been in the mid 80's. :cool1:

I had a quick question before I before I pick up a pirate costume for my DS.
He wants to do a scary (skeleton type) pirate.
I wasn't sure if it was 'Disney' like for him wear something like that.

HOWEVER, I do think the costume looks really nice in the picture.

Any thoughts?

Everyone IS dressing up for pirate night, right?
(at least I told my wife that. :rolleyes1 )

I love to plan and that has been half of the fun. I booked last March so I could have the year to save and Plan.

I have only booked simple things to do, so where this is our first time cruising, we really don't know what to expect and plan to go with the flow more or less.

I have only disclosed my first name and my daughters first name and that I live in Maine. Good luck trying to figure out where we live since I know at least 5 of each of us in our own town. I am not posting anything on my door since I have never cruised before. I work in a school and know all the ins and outs of internet danger and would never do anything to put myself or my daughter in harms way.

I guess you are right, when it comes to Disney we all kinda of assume safety, but sometimes we have to step back and make sure we are taking all the procautions. I hope that you do introduce yourself to us, from what I read on these boards, this is going to be a great group.

Myself, hubby and son will only be wearing pirate shirts, pirate tattoos etc.

I found embroidered Mickeys at AC Moore. They don't need to be sewed just stuck on. Not sure if they will last and not pull off first wash, but if I run out of time that will do. My eldest will wear his Nauset School shirt which coincidently is lime green so I just have 3 to deal with.

I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M LEAVING 10 DAYS FROM TOMORROW!:scared1: SOMEBODY PLEASE COME PACK FOR ME! (they need a begging smilie) t-shirts, jeans, shoes, sandals, bathingsuits, dress clothes, pirate clothes,

Sorry about the passports! :( Shelling out all that money and not even getting them in time for the trip!:sad2: That bites!

pirate: All my pirate stuff is still sitting in a bag to be worked on. I would rather do that then pack, but work before play!:coffee:
