April 11th 2009 Magic Eastern Easter cruise--UPDATED WITH ROLL CALL PG 1

Ok, so when I got home tonight the phone rang. Of course I couldn't find a handset so I picked it up on speaker phone and said hello, there was a second pause then a loud horn sound (like a cruise ship horn) and a recorded voice said "Hello, this is your captain speaking...." I didn't hear anything after that. I had to hang up as fast as a could since my 10 year old was standing next to me and still doesn't know. She asked me "what was that". I just said "Oh, those telemarketers are probably just trying to get us to buy something."

So, was this a Disney Cruise line call?? Did anyone else get this? If you did, what did it say??

This secret is making me tense, but I hope it will be worth it.

**Update**
I went looking on line and found some people complaining. This is a telemarketing call advertising something about a free cruise. My paranoia is just driving me nuts.

Update from Illinois:

We've got our docs so we can do the dace too
It's starting to warm up here, but no matter how warm it gets it will not compare to sitting by the pool on the ship or sitting on a beach. . .
I CAN'T WAIT!

My extended family (14 of us) will be dressed up for formal and semiformal nights but nothing extravagant. The guys will have shirts and ties and the women will be wearing short dresses.

I'm excited about pirate night. My mom has made outfits for all of us!

I'm in for the FE. I will PM to be added to the list. I plan to do a small item and candy during the cruise.

A new question for our group: Does anyone scrapbook? I want to buy the cruise album but I've been told it is hard to find replacement pages. Can anyone help me out with this question?

I plan on buying the scrapbook on the cruise. I hadn't heard about the pages being hard to find. Hmmmm...

Anjiellisvt - I want to get a phone call like that!!!

Hi all...

With all this talk about clothing for Formal Night, my question is: what do people wear on the Semi-Formal night? I found a beautiful Calvin Klein cocktail length dress at my local Nordstrom Rack which I will wear for formal night and my DS will be wearing a suit for formal night (he is looking forward to wearing his "fancy suit"). I am looking forward to the two of us taking portraits in our snazzy gear. But how dressed up do people get for the Semi-Formal night? Do I need a similarly snazzy outfit as Formal Night, or can I take it down a notch?

As far as FE's go, I am planning on doing tiny little things on multiple days. I think the whole point of the FE is to enjoy the surprises and "magic" that come your way by participating. DS is looking forward to making deliveries!

Is anyone taking the Disney Cruise Line shuttle from Orlando to Port Canaveral on Saturday morning? We will be. Although we have received our docs, I haven't personally laid my hands on them because they were delivered to my mom's house. I will get the details when I go over there this weekend.

Oh and by the way, we will be on Deck 7, cabin 7116. :wizard:

5 days to Disneyland / 23 days to Orlando / 24 days to the Disney Magic!

We will be on a Disney Shuttle from Orlando. The travel agent e-mailed us that it was set to pick us up at our hotel at WDW at 11am on Saturday. Do you know what time your p/u is? I was going to contact TA and see if I could leave Orlanda a bit earlier.

All parent are given pagers when they register their kids. For the younger ones who do not have sign in/out privileges the counselors will page you if your child wants to leave or is upset, tired, etc. For the older ones who can sign themselves in/out they can ask the counselors to send you a page when they are leaving letting you know. Ex: "Justin is leaving the Lab and going back to the stateroom." It looks like your DD will be in Quest. I don't have any experience with that program but I would imagine it's along the same lines. I'm sure someone who is more knowledgable about it will post soon.

If your youngest child is in Ocean Quest, you will not get a family beeper. This group coes and goes as it pleases. If you requst one, I'm sure they will get you one but I wanted to make sure you knew it was not automatic.

I'm not sure why anyone would have trouble finding replacement/additional sheets for the scrapbooks? I bought ours onboard in January of this year and I had to add some pages to expand the book.....it took regular 12X12 sheets that I got at JoAnns. :confused3 You shouldn't have any troubles. :woohoo:

Oh...but I just thought of something....they do have 6X6 and another size too .... I wonder if they meant one of the off sizes that they were having trouble finding?

Big Wille -- Okay...your family ROCKS! I will be totally happy if I get everyone out of bed, dressed and to the port on time let alone looking so good!!! :rotfl2:

HURRAY for everyone getting their docs!!!!!!! Can you believe it is getting SOOOOO close now!?!

F.E. Gifts - We are doing small gifts and will probably make 2 deliveries during the cruise.

Weather -- It is getting HOT....and I do mean HOT here in Florida. We've up past 80 all week with no cloud cover. Don't forget to pack your sunscreen!!!!! And make it waterproof if you can -- that way you won't sweat it off so quickly. :thumbsup2

Formal Wear -- When we went in January -- we saw a little bit of everything. I just plan on wearing a casual dress to dinner every evening and something along the lines of a cocktail dress for formal and semi-formal night - the girls will wear fancy dresses but nothing like a prom dress and DH will bring his suit for formal night only, he is wearing just the shirt, tie and slacks for semi-formal. I know lots of people love dressing up to the nines on these nights but honestly....I have to "dress up" every day for work and just can't bring myself to do it. :rotfl:

I am a huge scrapbooker. I buy the scrapbooking kit on board each time but I use the Creative Memories new Disney album. It's beautiful!!

Thanks for clarifying Kelli. Having never cruised before I am not entirely comfortable with the come and go as they please thing, but my daughter seems thrilled about it. Guess you just set clear ground rules? Any suggestions specific to cruising that I should know about?

Saw that you are also spending a few days at the park before the cruise - your boys will LOVE the pool at Coronado Springs. Have stayed there and really liked it, but was there for a convention at the time and there were a lot of people there without children. There will probably be more families than conventioners at the time you are going. The food court is great and probably one of my favorites because of the unique menu selections. The resort is very spread out though, so your enjoyment of your room will depend somewhat on location. Each section has it's own special "feel". I'm sure you will enjoy it!

I'm encouraged by your praise of the Coronado Springs. We have never stayes there and chose it based on the food court and pool. We requested the Cabanas section but who knows.

This is our forth cruise and the first time we are allowing sign out for the older two boys. We wil have a beeper because we have a younger one in the Lab so we told the older two that they have to beep us when they leave OQ and tell us where they are going. If they then go somewhere else, they have to go the room and leave us a note on the interior white board. That way, Dh & i know that if they are not where they beeped us they'de be then we go to the room.

When we stayed at COronado Springs, we were originally in the Ranchos Secion which is a hike from everything. We asked to change rooms and they moved us to the Cabanas area. Has a really Carribean feel to it and best of all was close to the pool. Think you will be happy there.

Thanks for sharing your plans reagarding your older boys. I was thinking along the same lines, but it's nice to hear it from someone who is a cruise veteran. Will probably bring along walkie talkies just in case I am not able to get a beeper.

Birds of a feather really to flock together!!! :grouphug:

Hi All - Busy night on the boards it seems!!:surfweb:

SDZM/Kelli/GoofysGrl/Had2DisneyCruz: I just finished my last year's Cruise Album at a 'Crop Weekend' in Cape May, NJ! (I used to be a Creative Memories consultant) - I used the new Mickey Coverset with the true 12 x 12 pages - I had purchased the Cruise and Pirates kits from the ship last year - It came out great (if I do say so myself!) - It's BIG...I was a little worried I'd have to split it between two albums - but I managed to squeeze it all in. (this year I was thinking of just doing a Milestones album...but we'll see)... I'm not sure I remember seeing a Cruise Album but I'm a CM purist when it comes to the albums...and then I 'accessorize' like crazy with other decorator sets and stickers and memorabilia!

Kelli - we've stayed at Coronado Springs 2x before (last one just this past September) - the entire family really loves it there - plus it's on a decent cue to getting to and from the parks without too many stops in between and it's usually pretty 'close' to park entrances (especially great when you're exhausted at the end of the day)

GoofysGrl: Our DS(11) had a beeper last year and we'll be sure he gets one this year too - he had sign-in and out priveledges and reallly stepped up and was very responsible about it. Even our older daughter used the beeper (through the councelors) just to give us a heads up (or tell us she locked herself out of the room...lol!!!)... it really worked out so well for everyone!

Small world. I am currently a Creative memories consultant going on ten years now. I use only their albums but have branched out to other lines accessories. I love the Mickey coverset. That is what I am doing this trip in, already ordered it! The weekend after we get back I am off to my tri-annual scrapbooking retreat at a nearby inn. I plan to complete the entire album there! Thanks for the good words about the CS. I had done a lot of research before choosing it and it seems like I made the right decision. We are not renting a car so the buses were important and we are only doing one day at the parks so the pool had to be good. On Friday, we are going indoor skydiving in Orlando!!:scared: The boys are so excited!! I am starting to try to get organized and making lots of lists!!

Thanks for the scrapbooking info. I'm glad to hear that it will not be a problem getting additional pages.:)

I am glad to hear that there are other die hard scrapbookers out there. I have heard from others that you can get supplies there. A month or so ago I was searching some of the other threads and someone had shared this link to her scrapbook she made from her DC. I always love to look at others' scrapbooks to get ideas, so for those of you who enjoy that too you may want to check this out.

I love scrapbooking too. Although i've never bought the pages on the cruise they look really nice. Our last cruise last May had a scrapbooking type workshop. I don't remember to much about it but i remember we visted it for a short time.

I admire all of you who do scrapbooking. I wish I had the time and patience for it! I have so many pictures just sitting on my hard drive or in a drawer and I would LOVE to put together a book for my DD...maybe this cruise will motivate me to do it :goodvibes

Got up at 5 AM this morning thinking about the PARTY tomorrow, so I am already in decorating mode!!! I can't believe DD's birthday party is already here and it is time to tell her about the cruise! Don't know if she'll be able to handle all the excitement...at 10 o'clock a bounce house is being delivered for the party that she knows nothing about, and then after everyone leaves she goes on the scavenger hunt to find out about the cruise! I tear up just thinking about it! :lovestruc

After this weekend is behind me I need to get in gear on last minute shopping and packing. Tops on the list is finding a swimsuit. Anyone have recommendations on who has really cute ones out now? I prefer the skirted suits ;)

Good Luck tomorrow!! Let us know how it goes.

To the scrapbookers...I am so jealous. I started a scrap book about 10 years ago when my first was born and got about three pages done and have just never had the time to get back into it.

To All...21 MORE DAYS TIL WE LEAVE, 22 MORE DAYS TIL WE CRUISE!!!!:cheer2:

I feel like I am running out of time. I have kids activities all this weekend and next and then I will only have one weekend to get everything ready to go.
