Tuesday Grand Cayman
We had anchored in Grand Cayman by the time we got up. It was beautiful out and we looked forward to a great day. We ordered room service and had breakfast on the verandah while we waited for the clearance to go ashore. We had an excursion booked with Capt. Marvins so we wanted to get on a tender as early as possible. Concierge called and told us when and where we could go to pick up the tender. Alyssa and Nanny were staying on the ship. They had fun swimming and Alyssa went to the lab in the afternoon.
There were several of us DISers who had booked the same excursion with Capt Marvins so I had requested we all be on the same boat. This worked out great except for one family who got there later than the rest of us and they ended up on another boat. (Sorry Jeff & Beth). There were a total of about 5 families from the DIS boards on the same boat and we did the half-day excursion, which runs from 10am to 1pm. We first went to a small reef area to snorkel
and then on to stingray city. At the first snorkel area there was an incident which shows how Brittany comes by the nickname Dale. After snorkeling for a while with Rich I decided to see how Chip & Dale were doing. When I looked up I saw Dale swimming around in the water and Chip standing on the back of the boat. Both looked a little bewildered.
Apparently while swimming back to the boat Dale had taken off her mask and while trying to take off her fins had dropped her mask and it sank to the bottom. Now everyone was looking for Dales mask. Rich couldnt figure out why she would take her mask off to begin with. DUH!!! Luckily it was found and we all went back to snorkeling. She is such a sweet and smart person, but sometimes I think all the lights are on and nobody is home.:confused2 At stingray city, Paul from Capt Marvins got into the water and captured a stingray for us to touch and hold. Dale actually held the stingray. I was impressed. After stingray city we went to another reef area to snorkel. Paul got into the water again and this time lured out an eel for us to see. The eel was like 4-5 feet long and he would lure him out with a piece of food and then try to get it to swim around some. This was so cool. There were actually 2 eels at this reef and I got some good pictures of them from about 2-3 feet away. The excursion with Capt Marvins was awesome and I would recommend them to anyone. They are very efficient and knowledgeable about the areas. We will use them again when we return to Grand Cayman. One thing to know. We had a videographer(sp?) on board with us and she filmed everything and sold it on VHS or DVD. She told us for future reference if we want a videoagarpher we should request one. They only have 6 and there are 10 boats so unless you request one it is luck of the draw.
Rich and I really wanted to go to the Bernard Passman store so we sent Charles, Chip, & Dale back to the ship. Bernard Passman is a famous jewelry designer (among other things) using black coral. We had seen his store in Vegas and really like the pieces. We found some beautiful pieces including matching his and her rings which had to be re-sized. Because they could not get the sizing done in time they decided to order new pieces made for us and then they would be shipped to us. Bernard Passman is 88 years old and he was actually in the store that day so we got the chance to meet him and have a picture taken with him. Even if you are not looking to buy any of his pieces, if you have a chance you should stop in the store and see his stuff it is exquisite. We had to hurry back to catch the tender because we had an appointment at the spa at 4pm. Rich & I did the Elemis Absolute Face and Body. It was wonderful. They start with a back & leg massage and then you get a facial. We both really enjoyed it.
We ate dinner in Palo again and had a superb meal. Chip & Dale were eating dinner with Joe and his little brother Zack because their parents were eating in Palo also. It had been a long and tiring day:sleep: so we had a few drinks in Sessions while we waited to pick Alyssa up. They had a camp out in the lab and she had a lot of fun. Chip & Dale went to the dance in The Stack again.
