Apply Now For Disney Visa Card

Thanks for the link!

Thank you so much - I am calling today - cannot wait!!! We are going in December so I will be able to use this card.

Think about it long and hard though. Read everything and evaluate it carefully. Their petty rewards could be outshined by other cards offering far more.

I was one so anxious to apply, I wanted to wait to pay for our vcation with it. But I feel insulted with what they have to offer cardholders and decided to keep using other cards that give me far better rewards instead...

...I agree with you. (of course, I want the card too!) Are there any other cards that you use with better benefits/rewards that you could tell us about?? :)

Wow...

They really don't offer much of anything, do they? I guess it's not surprising though

I too am having a hard time with the vagueness of the benefits. It says reward dollars may be redeemed for "most Disney merchandise, park tickets, hotel nights, food and more . . ." I'm curious as to the most part - does it only refer to merchandise and not tickets, hotel, or food? It also says "Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM will have to be transferred to a designated card or certificate before they can be redeemed" - again, what does that mean?

We currently have an airline credit card that we get miles on and can earn miles faster with certain vendors - including the Disney.com! It is also linked to more programs - i.e. we can get miles from Marriott instead of points. So, depending on how expensive the ticket would be we "earn" minimum 1 dollar for every 100 spent and maybe more! I may have to think about this disney card - I wish it was linked to more programs so that there was greater earning power.

Earn 1% or more in Disney Dream Reward Dollars.SM
You'll earn Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM equal to 1% on purchases charged to your Disney's Visa® card. Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM may be redeemed for most Disney merchandise, park tickets, hotel nights, food and more at Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts - including theme parks, and Disney Cruise Line®, Disney Store, Disney catalog and DisneyStore.com. Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM can even be used in combination with special offers and discounts.

Special Disney Bonus Offers.
In your statement and online, you'll get special bonus offers that let you earn double, triple or more Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM on selected Disney purchases or get more with your reward dollars when you redeem them. As a Cardmember, you'll also receive special bonus offers, such as special deals on vacation packages or merchandise when you use your Disney's Visa® Card. For example, you'll receive a $50 onboard credit when you or your travel agent book a Disney Cruise Line® vacation with your Disney's Visa Credit Card. The offer is good for sailings through 12/31/03.

Pay No Interest for 6 Months on Disney Vacation Packages.2
You'll pay no interest for 6 months on cruise packages or ticket-inclusive Disney vacation packages when you or your travel agent book through Disney Cruise Line® or the Walt Disney Travel Company and charge the package to your card prior to arrival.

I don't know. Doesn't seem that bad to me. I think the no interest for 6 months when you book a package or cruise is a pretty cool idea.

...do you pay an annual fee for the airline card that you mentioned? Would you mind posting the program that you carry?

thanks!:Pinkbounc

I agree. That alone made me want to apply for the card. Also the shipboard credit is good too. Wonder if you can combine that with the Disney Club $50 credit.....would be nice if you could. Oh well, something is better than nothing.

I'm curious to find out how that translates to actual dollars??!!

For example......are they saying that for every $100 spent it gives you 1% towards Disney purchases......does that mean $1 .....at regular prices or what???

What does a Disney Dream Rewards Dollar equal to????

Or will it work like an airline miles program??? For example you use 25000 pts for a flight regardless of what the actual cost of that flight is!

So will it mean that you will "purchase" certificates, etc to use on various things. Another example.....with AmerEx...you can use points to "purchase" car rental certificates. And depending on what car rental you use will decide the actually savings!

"""Disney Dream Reward DollarsSM can even be used in combination with special offers and discounts. ""

This is good!!!

I still say we have to wait and see the DETAILS of the program and how it translates into Dollars saved...

What they explained over the phone is that you get $1 of credit (spendable on Disney purchases) for every $100 you charge with a maximum annual credit of $750. Thus, basically, if you charge $10,000 a year, you get $100 credit to spend toward purchases with Disney. That is very typical for credit cards that have awards programs. The "special bonus" awards where you can get double or tripple credit or actual discounts for Disney items or trips are not really listed yet except for a $50 on board spending credit if you book a cruise. The no interest for 6 month on a cruise booking doesn't really make it fab as other credit card companies run similar specials now and then. In other words, thus far, we are looking a credit card that really is not that much different than many others except bonuses are all limited to Disney. In comparison just to other cards it is perhaps worht getting with no annual fee. But remember this is supposed to be the fantastic replacement for Disney Club and right now it is a piece of junk in comparison. Whether it will end up better or worse than Disney Club will depend on the actual "special bonus" programs not yet announced.

I too am disappointed with what this card has to offer. I expected the benefits to be a little better. 1% is not that much of an incentive to use this card over some of my other reward type cards. I have just applied for this card anyway in hopes that the benfits they offer get better. With the end of the Disney Club I thought that maybe this card would also offer the 10% discounts on some purchases like the DC membership offered. I will have to wait and see. So far I am not impressed.

I too, was a bit disappointed with the reward program... I really feel bad for those who have had the Disney Club Card (old MKC) and could get 10% off of merchandise at the Disney Stores, and breaks on vacations and rooms... this isn't much of a compensation, in my opinion.

I did apply, but mainly it is because I want that pin. The little bit I would put on it would never amount to much in reward bonus points, anyway.

Howdy Disneyfan551. I don't remember about the annual fee so I'll have to check at home and get back with you on that one. Even if we do I think we get miles for it anyway. We currently have Northwest Visa card and get 1 mile for every dollar spent anywhere so we use that as our daily expense card and pay off the balance each month. Periodically they have special programs where if you use their partner vendors you can get extra miles and such, you also get miles just for getting a card, signing up for e-mail etc. Then if you go through their website they have a NW Worldperks mall where if you link through there you can get up to 6 miles for every dollar spent. Right now I can get 4 miles for every dollar spent at Disney.com. It works for us b/c we have a NW hub here so just about every flight we would take is Northwest.

Now that being said we're probably moving to NE in a few months so I've already figured out that Delta is bigger there and signed up for their card. Again I think we get 10,000 miles just for getting the card and a mile for every dollar spent. Not as many online partners but what can you do. Again it works for us b/c we aren't keeping a balance and worrying about finance charges - just getting the benefit of miles for daily expenses like groceries and such.

I applied for the card yesterday and I'm with eeyore0062 the rewards aren't too great, but I must have that pin!!!

Carla

From what I remember, it varied with credit rating, and was betwen 10.99 and 13.99%.

Based on the current prime rate, the rate would either be 11.15, 13.15 or 15.15 for purchases, and 18.99 for cash. They are variable based on the Prime Rate.

The rewards part seems in line with other rewards offers, provided the "special bonus opportunities" are actually something of substance. Disney's rewards seem no better or worse than others, which seems to be their overall goal these days.

As others have noted, its the lack of any announced discounts that is causing disappointment. Since both the Disney Club and American Express White Glove program offered actual discounts, it's a bit disappointing none have been offered with the Disney Visa.

It is possible not everything has been announced.

Could Disney really afford that? I don't think they have hidden benefits yet to be discovered...

the rewards aren't too great, but I must have that pin!!!
I think that is the main reason why most people are applying. That and the "Day 1" inscription on the card. But remember guys, it all goes on your credit report and eventually it could harm you more than benefit you. Opening a lot of cards does not look good in the eyes of some companies.

You will find that pin on ebay or even trade for it in the parks. I am sure it will not be so limited, as they expect thousands to apply.

Overall, I am disappointed and still getting the feeling that Disney is not pampering guests as much as they deserve to be. Limiting your rewards to $750/yr, restricting their special offers to cruises and packages feels like dejavú all over again. Here we go, having to complain and yell out for better benefits all over again...
