Can someone tell me if buying the apple care for ipad is worth it? I only have a few days left to purchase it.. We didn't get it when my daughter got hers and now Apple is offering it for $69 for an extra year. Is it worth it? What can they help me with over the phone?

Also, my daughter would like to know how to get her ipad and ipod touch on the same track... We have to buy apps for each seperatly... I am so confused. Who do I call about this?

Definitely get the AppleCare, if just for the peace of mind. I bought it for my MacBook and am SO glad I did - I needed a new battery a month after I bought it and it was completely covered by AppleCare. I also needed to replace a frayed power cord and the rubber on the bottom of the computer and both were covered as well. (The generation of MacBook I have had some known issues.... I still love it, though, and knock on wood I haven't had any problems in over a year....)

I plan on purchasing it for my iPad next summer. I've never purchased it for my iPods (those last a long time, though - my last one was almost 5 years old when it died) and never thought to get it for my iPhone... But I will definetly getting for my iPad when the time comes.

I haven't bothered with the apple care program for any of my apple products (two MacBooks, iPhones, iPods, etc). I think it's a personal decision, really. We rarely, if ever, buy extended warranties for anything and we've never regretted it. It's possible we've just been lucky.

AllisonK, wouldn't the battery have been covered by the existing warranty? I'm not trying to argue, just wondering if AppleCare provides something in that first year that the regular warranty wouldn't have.

For your second question, if she's syncing her devices to one iTunes account, she shouldn't have to buy the apps twice. I have the iTunes wi-fi sync on with my iPhone and iPad. I know when I buy an app or song from iTunes, it automatically downloads the song to my phone or iPad. It could be she just needs to change her settings so they sync.

Apple Care Plus covers your IPad for a cracked screen or water damage also. I guess it depends on how careful you will be. I did not get it for my IPad but will definately get it for my IPhone 5.

If you have really young kids I would probably buy some sort of warranty for it but otherwise I would skip any extended warranty. I can't imagine an adult dropping it so hard the screen cracks or water damaging it somehow.

The display was starting to go on an iPad, that was a little over a year old and thus out of warranty. Brought it into the Apple store and walked out with a brand new iPad thanks to Apple Care.

Got it. I agree with other posters, then. I'd definitely get it if a younger child would be handling it. And get a nice protective cover. I've been thinking about getting an m-edge case for the iPad. The Griffin survivor is a bit OTT (dirt constantly gets trapped under the screen cover).

It is almost certain that you got a refurbished iPad, not a new one.

I think Apple Care is a waste of money.

Vickie46---did they email this offer to you?

When it comes to apple care, I get it. I've had to get a screen replacement (something about things weren't originally connected right?) and new drives put in and the extra care was definitely worth it because the screen alone would've been around $1000

Refurbished but guaranteed like new. We get warranties through square trade but if apple care now covers water damage, I'd get that next time

no they didn't email me the offer... I called for help one day on my daughter's Ipad and they told me I could get it for that price.

Since the iPad is the ultimate in droppable items, I would recommend getting the AppleCare.

Since the AppleCare+ for iPad/iPhone do cover accidental and water damage now, I recommend it. Before that, it was a little useless on mobile devices.

because my daughter won an ipad and the purchase date was more than 30 days from the date my daughter won it.

Then 5 months later she dropped it and it shattered. It's a nice Ipad 3 with 3g capabilities

$299 for a replacement. With Applecare the replacement would have been $49.

worth it. They offered it to us at a reduced price with the replacement. Bought it.

I think you have 30 from the day you buy it to buy the Apple Care. By the way a refurbished IPad is just as good as a new one.

So I am presuming this is the Apple Care extension they offer once the device is a year old and the standard warranty has run out. If that is indeed the case, I believe this is the basic Apple Care coverage, not Apple Care+, so accidental damage would not be covered.

Be sure to read the fine print and understand which coverage it is you are getting.
