My brother throws a large bash in August, outside, for kids and adults and I want to bring a different appetizer other than taco dip or veggie tray. Any ideas for a dish that is a winner for you? I could put it on an ice bed, so keeping it cool isn't a problem. Thanks for the help. :cool1:

This a hot dish--but still good after it cools off. Everyone requests it when we go somewhere. I would like to bring something new but I always get asked to bring this.
Hot Chicken Dip
2 pkg. softened cream cheese
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 pkg. dry chili mix--I like the McCormick brand
1/2 cup sliced green onions
jalapeno peppers chopped fine--I use the jar kind--we like it spicy, but you can add as many as you like.
2-10oz. cans canned chicken breast, well drained.
Mix everything together and bake in a shallow casserole for 30 min. at 350 degrees or micro until hot. Serve with tortilla chips or wedges of fresh pita bread. This dip can be kept warm in a small crockpot if you have one.
Enjoy Deb

mmmmm, thanks. That sounds like a winner to me! :cool1:

Do you have access to using a crock pot? If so, I have a couple of good recipes. Otherwise how about stuffed celery?

1-3oz. package cream cheese
1/4 tsp. worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tablespoon finely chopped pistachio nuts
12-2 inch long pieces of celery

Blend cream cheese, worchestershire sauce and lemon juice until smooth. Stir in pistachio nuts. Fill celery with mixture.

How about deviled eggs? They are always a hit with my family and friends. I make mine with horseradish and pickle juice.

I love ham roll-ups.

Take sliced ham (deli ham, usually). Pat the ham slices dry. Spread cream cheese thinly over each slice. Lay a midget dill pickle on each piece of ham. Roll up and cut into bite-size pieces. (You could also do green onions instead of pickles, but I'm not an onion fan myself!)

Another good one is BLT dip. This is the one I always have to take places!

1 cup sour cream
1 cup mayonnaise or Miracle Whip (whichever you prefer)
1 pound bacon
1 tomato, seeded and diced

Fry bacon till crisp; cool and crumble. Combine sour cream and mayonnaise; stir in bacon. Add tomato just before serving (otherwise it gets runny). You can serve this with Fritos, crackers, tortilla chips, pretzels....darn near anything.

These are pretty, refreshing and simple to make. They taste like strawberry cheesecake, although they may sound a little strange.

Take a package of cream cheese and slice off part of the rectangle (lengthwise), so that you have a smaller, more square shape. Roll this log in a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar, to make a brown coating on the outside of the log. SLice this log into thin slices. Place a slice of the cream cheese on a Triscuit, then top with a halved strawberry. YUM!
